Ever dish is so delicious here. Can not wait for the reopening

I know people get upset about the prices of food when they could have ordered the same dish at a different restaurant but to be fair the establishment themselves usually aren’t as swanky, sometimes you’ll have 30 minute waits and bad parking at other Vietnamese restaurants. So it’s the same dishes at a nicer venue. Vietnamese bathrooms are horrendous and a lot of places are cash only. I don’t think it’s fair to be expecting more for the same price. Some people don’t enjoy sitting at cheap tables with tiled floors and that’s okay. Food is delicious and the people are nice.

Not open, despite yelp saying it was. I came at 12:30pm on a tues. Waste of time, since I drove from Santa Cruz just for lunch here.

Good food, done well. Look at appetizers as well. You can save a bit.....I did! Oh, and the grilled onion wrapped with beef.....Ohhh, sooo, good. You will love it. They where busy when I was last there, but the very first time, I sat near the door at this little cozy table next to the wall where the bathroom door is, I didn’t really get check on, which was a bit unnerving....but, anyway I was comfortable, had a Tsingtao beer and my fav., grilled onion wrapped with beef and a salad.

The Vung Tau Restaurant is a regular spot for me since moving to San Jose. If you want to dine inside make sure to reserve ahead. If dining outdoors both covered or open you may wait a little but it's worth it here.

Visiting my kids in Los Altos and they decided to revisit Vung Tau (I had never heard of it), a truly wonderful Vietnamese restaurant --- we shared 5-6 dishes; really loved the beef/onion rolls especially. The hostess greeted us warmly and the server, a young woman named Tramy, was exceptionally pleasant and helpful. great meal here. this is a very good restaurant. many Vietnamese people came in to eat. the calamari was over cooked but everything else was great

They do not serve Pho! The Papaya salad is good but extra sweet. The Onion Beef rolls over vermicelli noodle is a must try. The calamari with garlic and onion is the best we have ever had, be sure to put soy sauce over it. The owner and or manager has a terrible attitude toward patrons and has no idea how to treat people. We ordered ahead to go and by the time we arrived our plans had changed and the waitress asked if we wanted to go ahead and eat in and we said OK. The waitress came back from the kitchen and was obviously shook up and told us that we must never do that again meaning order to go and then decide to eat in. Apparently the boss/owner tore into the waitress because there would be a wasted take out box!!! There were hardly any customers at that time and we were so upset by the way we were treated that we took our food which was still in the take out boxes and ate it in our vehicle. Most of the food is good but we never trust any restaurant to clean their silverware, especially the forks. Be sure to look over the fork and spoons and knives and perhaps clean them in the tap water they server you to drink. Or ask for plastic utensils. They are closed between 3 and 5 PM. Prices are on the high side.

2 stars for food: I had to have the waiter take a dish back because there was a bug in the dish. Taste was just ok. This review is a little late so I don't remember the exact dishes I had. 4 stars for service: decent service. 5 stars for ambience: has a nice atmosphere with nice decorations. 5 stars for facilities: dining area and bathroom was clean.

Upscale Vietnamese restaurant. Service is okay. Food is okay. But I can get the same thing for a better price at other Vietnamese restaurants. However, nice decor and the bathrooms are quite clean!

Came here for special Vietnamese food that you don't normally get in pho places and they are good. They have their own parking lot, though small but better than impossible street parking. Come in late lunch and you'll find parking. Tried the fried shrimp cake as appetizer $11.5, a custom-build lunch selection of banh dap (rice noodle roll with a gooey layer in the middle) plus shredded pork and grilled pork chop $18.2, and caramelized catfish $18.5. The food tasted good, I'm a bit surprised the custom lunch costed so much. Service was ok but we didn't get any water refill. Would not come here day to day but once awhile to try something new.

Just a heads up, if you came here looking for pho like I did because I was craving it well, don't. Unfortunately they don't serve pho here but they do serve other vietnamese dishes such as soup noodles, rice plates, and main dishes. This place is more like "upscale" fusion food. I ended up getting the bun bo hue because I was still craving noodles with soup and it was pretty good. The soup was super fragrant and the noodles were chewy. The herbs and bean sprouts added more texture and the lime brought out the flavor of the broth more. My only real complaint about this place is how expensive it is! $14 (w/o tip or tax) for a bowl of noodles?!?!

San Jose Vietnamese restaurant Saturday lunch. They close at 3 pm. We arrived at 2 pm we ordered, ate, paid and left well before 3 before they closed. The food here was excellent we ordered pork won ton soup with rice noodles, tofu spring roll with peanut sauce and tofu and eggplant with veggies. This was a tasty meal. Was very impressed and agree with all the great reviews. David was our server and he did an amazing job. Thank you!!!!!

A local family friend recommended this restaurant to us a while back and i have been a fan since. Every time I'm in san jose i make a point to dine here. Their food is so good and the fact that they serve beer/liquor really sweetens the pot even more. So the girlfriend really likes the Bun cha Hanoi, not sure if the dish is obama's favorite has any bearing on her affinity for it. She has sheepishly denied the coincidence ‍ but I don't buy it. She orders the damn dish every where it's available. I like almost everything on the menu including the egg rolls and their ever fantastic catfish soup
