This was my idea of a authentic Mexican food restaurant at one point. They offered very good food and service at a reasonable price. But my last experience was nothing great. Great food, nice inside. Took a star off because of the 9 times I've been there, they never asked once how your meal is, if you need a refill on your beverages, more chips, etc. Many times the staff are standing around by the cash register and don't make eye contact or scan in room to see if anyone needs anything. It's almost impossible to get someone's attention when you need more soda, iced tea or whatever it is you're drinking. They need to fix that. Then it would be perfect.

Another one of my childhood favorites. I remember summers where I would come down to El Portal with some friends and order what I could with my allowance money. I'm glad to see that the restaurant has not changed and the food is still delicious like always.
