“I finally got to try Bake Sum! The bakery was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. Because of the small standing room, it was sort of hard to tell who was waiting on their order and who was still in line. They also offer few gift items along the wall, including Taiwanese chocolates, matcha powder, greeting cards, and cute shopping bags just to name a few that I saw. There is no seating, but luckily Lake Merritt is close by, and the perfect spot for a picnic. On a Saturday you might also finding seat at the Farmer's Market a block away. We tried the jasmine milk bun, pandan milk bun, ube cookie, and a coffee. It was around 11:30am on a Saturday and they were already low on inventory (when I got to the front I hear them say they JUST ran out of sesame cookies and I ordered one of the last jasmine milk buns). Of everything I tried I liked the jasmine milk bun the most, it was quite fragrant (just the way I like my jasmine flavored things)! These milk buns reminded me of my favorite melon milk buns that I had in Japan. I have no idea if they make them here...but that would be a dream to have that right here in the neighborhood! I will definitely plan on coming earlier next time so I have more of a selection to choose from.“

“I absolutely adore Arzimendi! I've been to this location and the Valencia st location in SF and everytime I go, I am reminded of how much I love it. The baked goods are delicious and affordable. The pizza is divine and it's so fun to see what new slice comes out each day. Arizmendi is also a co-op so I'm happy to support them with my service as much as possible!“

“The polenta and blueberry muffins are out of this world. That being said, one day they made polenta and raspberry muffins. I don't know if it was a fluke or not, but I actually like those better. Either way, you have to try them!! Every Friday my coworkers and I treat ourselves. The best ever!!“

“My daughter and I walked into such a great bakery. The ambiance was amazing and the customer service was great. We met the owner and couldn’t believe how young he was. “We came by early Saturday morning & it was pretty busy! There is plenty of street parking and a parking lot in the back that is part of the apartment complex. It was hard to choose just a few items because they all looked so good. We got the Cookies & Cream donut & the Mango Crème donut - both were filled with a delicious, light/thin cream. The Caprese bun was pretty average but it is nice that the pesto is nut-free! The Churro, Dulce de Leche donut was a delicious not-too-sweet sugar donut. My favorite was the Jalapeño Cheddar Biscuit - not spicy, had a crunchy exterior and a soft interior. The donuts & biscuits all range from $4-$7 each. I definitely want to come back for the Jalapeño Cheddar Biscuit & to try the other menu items!“

“You know a place is good when the young kids are working their. This place has amazing fluffy malasadas. Their selection is creative and unique. The flavors are awesome. The chive savory malasadas was to die for. Their service is amazing and patient. The line does get wild. They do run out of donuts.“

“I am supprised that my daughter loved this place. Everytime, I ask her what do you want to eat, " In and Out ". After this place, we have 2nd choice. Service is fast. People are friendly. Sure the dining area is not great - this is not a lavish place with amazing ambience. It's more of a people's play - you get some really good, cheap and authentic bagels here. Not everything that glitters is gold and the vice versa is very true for this place.“

“I ordered a birthday cake for my 3 year old from here and I wish I had known about this place sooner. The design was SPOT on, executed perfectly, the cake itself was maybe the best cake I’ve ever had (and I do not like cake), the frosting was not too sweet, and the service was great.I have never seen my family and friends eat cake like this before. I’ve spent hundreds on beautiful but inedible cakes. Never again.I cannot recommend this place enough and will use them exclusively for all my baked good needs!!“

“We regularly come here for our pie fix. To be honest, before Pie Dreams I wasn't the biggest pie person. But the butter pie crust here is sooo good. I also love that that rotate flavors pretty regularly which is a good reason to come back and try something new. We've probably tried almost all the flavors already. Our favorites are the hand pies - anything with apple honestly. Recently they've got the blackberry apple which is a delicious combo of tart and sweet flavors. I've also gotten their savory pies and more recently got the Mama Lo's Mechado to bake-at-home. I will say the price was a bit steep, but I enjoy supporting local businesses and their flavors are good. In the future I'd probably just stick with their usual sweet pies though. My favorite regular pie is probably the French silk pie or caramel apple pie. The owner's kids are often handling the register and they're friendly. There are some tables indoors so you can enjoy your pie immediately if you'd like. It'd be nice if they offered in house drinks in the future, I think it'd up the ambiance a bit more. Will continue to support either way!“

“I like the pastries here but I usually come Sunday morning and they are either late to open - or not open it seems today. Also the pastries are extremely limited and seem left over at that time. I mean just close Sunday I guess. I doubt I'm coming back again that time.“

“Big craving for Churros especially after watching "The Brother's Sun"Best churros in the Bay area and I've ever tasted is in Hayward! It was a street vendor and his Google/Yelp hours are off since someone was controlling them. He is a very nice and sweet man! He is usually there by the Wah Jee Wah/ Mexican supermarket across the Hayward Chime cemetery from 12 noon to 7pm and off for one day either Monday or Wednesday or when it rains.It was crunchy and flaky. Airy. Good balance of a touch of saltines and sweet sugary goodness and cinnamon. $10 for a bag of happiness ❤️“

“Cute little bakery, and the cupcakes are amazing! I have never tasted better. The 'better for you' cupcakes use almond flour, less sugar, and taste better than traditional cupcakes. It is a nice place to sit and enjoy a conversation. The owner is very cheerful and friendly.“

“This place is amazing! The pastries are so good, the bread has a perfect balance and crumb. I love that the sugar level in the breads is lower than store bought. I buy all my bread there now. “I ordered an 8 inch 3-layer guava chiffon cake for my dad's 90th birthday and it was just fabulous. My party guests were gushing about how delicious it was. The workers were very friendly and I had no issues at all ordering and picking up the cake. I asked to add fresh strawberries in the layers and they were able to accommodate it. It wasn't cheap but totally worth it! I'm looking forward to another birthday so that I can have an excuse to order another one!“

“As we continued our cake tasting adventures we discoved this bakery and met with the owner: Jorge Flores who has been at this location for 18 years with 16 employees! An amazing cake artist who also studied with the REAL Cake Boss; Buddy Valastro! Jorge's cake was moist with a real "killer" buttercream. We bought pastries, (try the bread pudding...yummmm) AND special ordered my Birthday Cake from him which will be in the shape of my Westie Dog. I will post it in May when I get it. The display cases were fully stocked on a Monday with heavy foot traffic, this is a true landmark that merits our support with a kind, gentle, talented owner who cares about his product and staff. There no cake he cannot create“

“The food is good and the service is pretty fast. You have to order food and then the food is brought out to you. We tried the kalua pork hash, ube latte and mochiko chicken and pandan waffle. The food was very tasty. The mochiko chicken was perfectly crispy and the waffle has a great pandan flavor as well. We were not a huge fan of the ube latte, you can't really taste the ube.“

“I cannot express how much I love a dedicated gluten free facility. It makes it so easy for my celiac husband to find tasty treats and drinks. The desserts, particularly the cookies and cupcakes are so good you would never know the difference between non-gluten free items (I say this as someone who eats non gluten free items all the time). We love the desserts so much we ordered our wedding cake from here and it turned out beautifully! We could not recommend this place enough. I messed up my online order by putting in the wrong date, sent an email in a bit of a panic, and the owner promptly and graciously addressed the issue, ensuring that we received our cheesecake on time! The Banana Rum Cheesecake was the best cheesecake we've ever had. I highly recommend this bakery for both their incredible cheesecakes and exceptional service.“

“We tried this bakery for the first time last week. The owner was really nice and friendly. We have a daughter and son in law that are vegan. We purchased vegan rice crispie treats and brownies. My son in law said the brownies were the best he has ever had and everyone loved the vegan rice crispie treats. I also purchased a few non vegan Oatmeal raisin cookies which I just loved. We also purchased raspberry jammies MAJOR YUMMY.... they had other fruit but we love raspberry. We had everything to go so I did not eat anything there. The bakery was very clean and well managed. I now have a great go to place for vegan and non vegan pastries and cookies.“

Friendly service and a cute neighborhood spot. Not really a sit down space, but they do have outdoor seating for people to use while they wait or if it’s just two of you. “This place is like your local bakery in Oakland! There's a good variety of things to choose from and the cashiers there are super friendly and helpful. I only came here to get one thing, and it was this round foccacia that I ordered. Foccacia is one of my favorite breads and this one stood out to me the most. It was dense but had a good chew and I like the toppings that were added on top of this. If only there was a toaster or microwave, I would of loved to try this warmed up.“

“Phenomenal ! First time trying them (delivery) and this is easily in my TOP 5 food places in the WHOLE BAY AREA! I scooped two prefix 4 course meals (beef patties, oxtail, blueberry blue match lemonade, and dessert of the day - a blue pastry & currant pastry) plantains, Accra salt fish fritters and mango turmeric peach cobbler. I wanted to try a little bit of a lot. The smell was heavenly, the portions were generous and the first bite made my eyes roll back. I can't imagine what this must taste like in person. This was the PERFECT pre Valentine's Day surprise dinner! Small but amazing touches that put this over the top: The salad had tomatoes and cucumbers, not just random lettuce. And the dressing was on the side (so we can control how much) plus it was well balanced in flavor. The oxtail was separate from the rice in its juices so the rice didn't get mushy and the oxtail was flavorful and juicy. The desserts were the perfect amount of sweet. It didn't taste like just sugar, you could really experience the spices.“

“This place is okay. The ube tres leches was unimpressive to be honest I wouldn't get that again. The flan ube cheesecake was a bit better I enjoyed the cheescake part but the ube was quite subtle and the flan was on the denser side which was fine. My favorite was definitely the fufflernoodle (i think that's what they called it haha). Best snickerdoodle I have had in a while! I will definitely be coming back just for those. Wish they had more drinks than just the milkshake. I do like their cupcakes from the food trucks!I didn't notice much of a menu when I entered, just some photos around the front which made it a bit confusing to know what they offered and if they were out of anything.“

“Karin's baked goods are delicious! We go to her stand at the Menlo Park farmers market nearly every Sunday. We love the mixed fruit scones, the fruit cobbler, the flourless chocolate cake (it's amazing with raspberries on top). Really, everything is just great! It is the perfect bakery.“

“My daughter and I were hankering for a little bit of ice cream after lunch and walked around the corner and there was Tucker's ice cream. It was a little harder to find and I thought because the front door is in a bit from the street. Entering there was a typical sour milk smell, but we know that's why it is with ice cream. The entry, and the premises is very nice, and the scooper was a friendly fellow. They also serve other things besides ice cream. We shared a double scoop of coffee, brittle, and Heath crunch. The coffee was really good but the Heath bar crunch was a lot more ice cream and not very many Heath bar bits. The double scoop with tip came out to nine dollars. We sat and ate our ice cream. The ice cream is really creamy.“

“I randomly bought one of their loafs of bread specifically the Milk Chocolate Thick Toast. It turned out to be one of the most delicious breads I have ever tried. The bread is so soft and infused with what seems to be melted chocolate chunks. I like to devour it soft, but you can try it out toasted as well, either way it will blow your taste buds out of proportion. Hopefully one day they can make a Wheat bread version.“

“Concha dreams has made me fall in love with conchas. Growing up I would only eat elotes and cupcakes. Their bread is soft and flavorful and the topping is the best I’ve found. You dont even need milk to go with them. You can never go wrong with the vanilla but highly encourage you to taste all their flavors to find your favorite. When we pick some up me and my wife always eat one or two before we get home!“
