I've tried the Daeho in japantown SF and I've had the Daeho in San Jose...but I feel like this Daeho tastes the best??? I'm not sure if it's the meat quality, portion sizes, flavor or what but this is my favorite location out of all the Bay Area locations.Daeho specializes in galbi-jjim, which is Korean braised beef short ribs in the most delicious sauce. You MUST get the cheese on top because they torch it at your table and it makes for a great IG story haha. I also like to get rice cakes in it. The large size can feed a table of four. The spice level is kind of inconsistent among the chains or even on certain days. I usually get spicy and I thought it wasn't spicy, during my most recent trip. (Maybe my spice tolerance went up? Maybe the chef just made it less spicy?) If you're unsure what spice level you are, I would err on the side of less spicy because you can always add spicy to it later.Aside from the beautiful galbi-jjim, I think everything else on the menu is pretty good. I like to pair my galbi-jjim order with a cold noodle to offset the heat. I think the soups here are so good. Their galbi-tang (short rib soup) is perfect on a cold day.

I went to the daeho San Mateo location because I considered the SF location too far, the restaurant was incredibly busy, and I did consider some of the food expensive. But it comes with authentic Korean cuisine within the area because meat and rent is expensive. The restaurant is very dark, but that is their aesthetic be prepared to either go early or make some sort of reservation if possible because there is quite a lineup.

The oxtail bone broth was hearty and tasted good even before putting in salt and pepper. I got the combination seolleong tang and the meat was tender and flavorful. The kimchi was super yummy too.

Excellent Korean food, excellent if you’re craving soup and stews. Most folks come in for the kalbijim where you choose the spiciness level and any additional toppings or extra meat. The glass noodles are an excellent addition. Beware that it is very, very spicy. There is a line-up at nearly all hours, so be prepared to wait or spend some time in the mall across the street.

Always love going to this place!! Yes, it’s always crowded and long wait to be seated, yes, it’s always fully packed and loud, yes, they’re a little bit on the pricier side, but also.. YES, their food is always amazing and never disappoints!Ordered braised short ribs and nothing else. Came with 3 other people and that seems to be a great meal for us. The ribs were tender, sweet, and packed with flavor. Love me some more ribs!

am i cray cray to feel that the san mateo daeho is better than the milpitas one?? somehow i feel like they gave "more" and ive gone to both locations twice!!! i love adding of course cheeeeese and the glass noodle, it really hits the spot with the combo! i got to try kalbitang and the soup was very light and delicious and also they can keep refilling it!!! i also really like the yukhe tooo! fine balance between the yummy raw beef with the pear strips n now i am craving it!!!!!!!

First time getting galbijim here and I am impressed! I got the regular galbijim with cheese and noodles as an add on with level 2 spice. It's honestly on the expensive end compared to another place I had but it was still a dish worth eating! I wasn't really used to the cuts of the meats used as I don't eat that type. The potatoes in this dish weren't my favorite and honestly I don't know why I thought this but I was imagining the viral thick clear noodles to be in the dish rather than the smaller one. For the seoullantang, I love it!! I want to go back solely for this being honest. Also I judge Korean spots based on their kimchi. Holy cow, this is the best kimchi I had in over 10 years! Not only is it like usual kimchi but there is a hint of sweetness and then boom, all spice from there. I would buy a jar of it ngl. Service was pretty good. Staff checked in if it was my first time dining there which is really nice! Vibes wise, got a mixture of family and friends in the building. I came there at 12 and didn't have to wait. However, if I needed to wait, I would not mind. I am definitely going back here!
