This has become our go-to dumpling spot in the Peninsula. I have been looking for an authentic Northern Chinese dumpling restaurant around the San Mateo area for years. So glad we stumbled upon this hidden gem! Although it is a "no frills" vibe old Chinese restaurant, it's always packed for lunch on weekends, so I recommend going early before peak lunch time to get a table. We have come here 1-2x a month since we discovered Town of Dumpling

The dumplings in the hometown of dumplings are indeed good, and the noodles in the store are good. I have eaten them for several years, but the others are mediocre. The price is getting higher and higher.

You know it's authentic with the Chinese broadcast on TV, pictures of the dishes printed out on the walls, and menu in Mandarin. I loved being able to see the dumplings being made in the back. Excellent 水饺 and 小笼包, tasted like China!

First time there, we were a Party of 4 and we ordered 7 dishes. All were delicious. The food tasted really fresh.

The pork/cabbage dumplings were good. The soup dumplings were great. The hot/spicy fish filet was a perfect hot. Not too numbing.

Amazing. The sesame pork pancake was life changing and the pork and shrimp dumplings were great. We also had the spicy beef soup and chicken and corn dumplings which were good.Definitely a hole in the wall but that adds to the charm. You can taste the love in the food.

One of our top go-to places for takeout. The 5 stars is for that - it's a small restaurant without much ambience and inconsistent service (because of all the take out orders) so eating there would take it down to 3 stars. Food is authentic, flavorful and not too salty. A typical take out order for 4 people:* Farmers cucumber- the cucumbers are always fresh. Great if you like garlic * Pork and chive dumplings - get more of these if you like chives. * Pork and cabbage dumplings - get more of these if you want a more meaty dumpling. * Garlic green beans * Chicken fried rice - best chicken fried rice anywhere! The grilled chicken makes a huge difference If we want to order more, we will add chicken and corn dumplings, green onion pancakes (though they haven't been as crisp recently) and garlic broccoli.

Best little restaurant! Flavorful and tasty food without frills. Their dumplings are awesome, they have a great variety of flavors: chicken, pork, lamb, beef, shrimp and fish combinations with veggies like Napa cabbage, chives ,and corn. Best Farmer’s cucumber salad I’ve ever had! Their lamb skewers appetizers is addictive. Also make sure to try the beef pancake and the green chives pancakes, they are noting like American pancakes ,but fried breads with a filling. Don’t forget to use the provided sauces for best experience!

Very casual restaurant for a quick bite! There are plenty of things to order with pictures shown on the walls/outside the restaurant to help you decide what you want. We ordered Shanghai soup dumplings, pork and shrimp chive dumplings and sesame pancakes with marinated beef. The food came out pretty fast, the sesame pancake with beef was fresh, hot, very tasty. The pancake was flaky and the beef wasn’t drenched in sweet sauce which is a plus for us. We dipped it in the house made hot sauce for a garlicky and HOT bite. The pork and shrimp chive dumplings came out next, it was very hot, had plenty of filling and tasted so good dipped in sauce. Lastly the soup dumplings came out. It didn’t have as much soup as other places but the pork flavor was good, I wouldn’t order it next time— I would stick to their dumplings. We noticed bao buns on the menu and decided to order frozen lamb buns to take home, can’t wait to try it. They also sell frozen dumplings to take home as well. I think this place is cash only but I may be wrong. It is affordable, tasty, and fast service.

The mutton skewers are not charcoal grilled, the pot stickers are actually fried dumplings, and the pancakes and noodles are okay.

I ordered $12 crispy chicken wings & got this soggy disgusting box of mop water probably! Never go to this place! They didn’t even give me a fork or napkins! The guy just treated me rudely & dismissed me.. horrible business establishment.
