Got the Mongolian beef lunch special, I was able to substitute the soup with a little bit extra rice, so hell yeah (I don't like soups much)! The beef was very tinder and good tasting, with a good amount of vegetables without overdoing it. The portion size was pretty decent and worth it. The only things I would change would be the decorations on the windows (so customers can see outside better), and the bathrooms were a tad dilapidated. Overall, I would definitely go here again, and might soon in the future.

First, I want to say I never write reviews. However, this really warranted me to write this review. Golden City used to be our go-to Chinese food restaurant. Unfortunately, we recently went there and were very disappointed. The food has changed dramatically, our order was wrong (received the wrong food item) and the food was incredibly salty! We have leftovers but can't eat them! So sad and disappointed.

Since ownership change, Golden City is either REALLY good or a bit bland, depending on who's in the kitchen. But with the dearth of good Santa Cruz Chinese restaurants, a decent choice.

This was the family go-to for many years. It was fine for Americanized Chinese food and we enjoyed it. I believe they changed ownership because the last (and FINAL) time we went for takeout there it was HORRIBLE, literally inedible and not at all what we were used to. The worst was the Honey Walnut Prawns which were heavily breaded fried with a drizzle of some strange pink sauce ( before it was lightly deep fried and tossed with a delicious sauce!). We ate the pot stickers which were burnt but threw the rest away.

I love Golden China. Their food is fresh, hot and tastes out of this world.. and they have never let me down. Ive been going here fot over 20 years. They are generous with their portion size. I always have enough left over to have another meal, the following day. Keep up the good work, and a big thank you. If you love chinese food, come to Golden China. You wont be dissapointed. I will be going there tomorrow and its all your fault. Lol

Now called Canton Westside and it is AMAZING!! First of all as soon as we walked in (Group of 3) we were immediately greeted and sat at a table. The food was amazing and the portions were great! Everything was warm and my favorite was the Sizzling Rice and wontons as an appetizer! Great customer service, my cup was never empty! Even took some food to go!

Now known as Canton Westside, same owners as Canton on 41st Ave. Been here a few times and it's a definite step up from the old Golden City. Despite the name, they have a number of Szechwan style dishes; the Szechwan string beans are one we keep coming back to.

Food is excellent! Very flavorful. Their pork fried rice is my favorite in town. I usually order online and the food is always ready when I arrive and the order has never been incorrect-even when special requests are included.

I got the Beef Chow mein and orange chicken. Food tasted fresh and was ready fast. This place really knows how to fry chicken period very juicy and delicious. Definitely got more meat than breading versus some other places

I did not realize they have new owners. I've been getting food here for years and it was always good. The service was good but the restaurant itself looked like it was in the middle of an unfinished remodel. The food we got was also very bland. Unfortunately their prices skyrocketed under the new ownership and at the new prices I expect food with much more flavor. Too bad.
