...Mystified -this was one of the worst restaurant meals of my life. Rubbery chicken. Enough sumac to kill a horse. Plates that appear to be composed by a six year old. Possibly, some raw lamb. I just don't get it. What the hell??

This little place, where you order at the counter and then sit down and they bring your food, is a surprising gem. Everything on the menu is delicious, with unique variations on Indian, Indonesian, Moroccan, and Middle Eastern dishes, healthy housemade beverages, plus a couple great desserts. I'm an omnivore and often enjoy beef, chicken or fish dishes there, but at least half the menu is vegetarian and my vegetarian and vegan friends love it there. And the price you pay is a fraction of what such gourmet dishes would be in a larger restaurant.

First time I visited, super friendly staff, the cook Joe, came out and said hello to his customers, while his wife runs the counter.

A remarkable variety of Asian flavors. I had the gado gado and it was excellent. The staff is engaging. The restaurant was very busy but the order came out fast. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The condiment bar was remarkable

Update:The restaurant reversed the charge so good for them. Please adjust your ordering so there's no confusion.__Ordered food on their website (and paid for it) and were told the pick up time was 1 hour 10 minutes from ordering. What they won't tell you however is that they don't start cooking until guests arrive. So having waited for more than an hour we learned on arrival that "it will be another 30 minutes, that's how it is here". We were too hungry and annoyed to stay any longer. A $70 dollars mistake we are not making again.

One of the best I've been to ever only wish I would have found it earlier because now soon they will be closing. It's a shame that the employees could not continue running it.

This restaurant embodies santa cruz in a food form. Weird and experimental but you're going to come back as much as you can because there's nowhere else like it in the whole world. Also if you couldn't tell I think it's delicious!

We were a group of eight and our friends treated us to the most amazing feast! Meat, veggies, sauces, crackers...Variety and flavors galore. We were major hyped up for this, which can lead to disappointment. HA!!! The taste sensations were more than I'd ever hoped for! So glad to have experienced a Santa Cruz legend!!!

I really love this place! Great flavor, and all everyone is very kind and helpful. Amazing veg options. Their chai is among the best I've ever had; good and spicy! A Santa Cruz classic.

This place is a hidden gem! My boyfriend is temporarily working in Santa Cruz and has been asking his patients (who are, of course, locals) for their most recommended restaurant here. And this place won, and we totally get why. The service is homey and genuine, the decor is full of character, and the food is so flavorful, it's quite like eating a home-cooked meal (and as having grown up in an immigrant household, home-cooked meals are UNBEATABLE, and Joze did just that). We got the Gado Gado vegan (literally the best wok'd veggies ive ever had), Joze's hashbrowns with chicken (the mushrooms in this are cooked to perfection), tofu wings (the sauce is awesome!!), and naan. They have a sauce bar that was perfect for the naan. We also got to try their margarita, which went well with everything we ordered, and the baklava for dessert. I feel like I only ever write yelp reviews whenever I think the restaurant deserves more customers/ratings, but I overheard that the chef/owner Joze will likely retire soon. So if you're reading this, try this place out while you can! I promise you won't regret any bit of it.

Joseph Schultz is a genius. This is not an exaggeration. Simply go here and order as much as you can of everything! Nothing is over $20. Many masterpieces can be had for under $10. Don’t miss the chutneys. The desserts. The pakoras. Any fish. Mushroom Vindaloo. Calamari 5 ways. The lemon doughnut! Bliss any way you go.

After all these years, still some of the best food in Santa Cruz. Probably the best when you consider the value. The flavours just pop! Been getting take out quite a bit here during the restrictions. Parking lot is small and cramped, I usually don't use it. The kitchen can get slammed so I always order early. Their online system works great.

Wow, I would give more than 5 stars. One of my top 10 favorite meals in all of Santa Cruz. I can't believe I hadn't tried India Jose until now. My taste buds were so excited to finally eat the order I picked up curbside. I ordered 4 items knowing I'd have leftovers. The flavors were just amazing together. Oh, and the sauces... delicious! So many vegan options, too... - Gado-Gado Vegan: It transported me to Bali for a meal - Joze Hashbrowns Vegan: The combo of veggies is amazing. - Dawzzy's Tofu "Wings": You gotta order these. The sauce is so good. - Naan Vegan: Amazing to dip into the various sauces. I will be back here quite often...
