I've been eating at Charlie Kabob since I got a job in the carpeting department at the Robinson's department store in 1985. They are the only restaurant that survived the reinvention of the mall and the move of the food court up the top floor. They don't have the lines today (at least not when I've been there) that they used to in in 1985, but they still have the same owner and the food is still wonderful. I love the beef kabob, the saffron rice and the charred tomato.

Very healthy food. The owner & staff we were always friendly . I miss it because of Covid-19 it had to close and had not reopened.

Ok, this is a review from the last time I was here, it was in the 80s and a middle aged person gentleman had started Charlie Kabob. It quickly became a great place for a savoy lunch of Kabob, I learned about rice with saffron sumac and a roasted tomato. The kabob rested on to of a pita bread and soaked up the juices. And after 30+ years still reminisce the food. Will definitely go there next time I'm in Santa Monica.

Upon arrival I was greeted by a friendly older guy so I decided to try the beef bob. It was very juicy but lacked flavor everything else was okay. This would be great if you're a healthy eater or need to watch your cholesterol. For the price it was not filling.

Had lunch here. The person who took our order was very friendly and recommended different options based on dietary requirements and preferences.Food arrived within a reasonable amount of time. The location is really nice within the food court so we sat outside.I ordered one chicken and one lamb skewer. Decent size portions size. The meat was cooked well.I was offered a traditional Persian desert, a baclava which is a small piece of folded pastry with some sugar and syrup. It was a bigger portion than I expected and whilst tasty it was too sweet to finish the entire piece.I'll definitely be back to try some of the other options.

I got the Charlie's Special and the meat portion was generous. The meat was well-seasoned for me and the kebobs were placed on grill in the kitchen to order. The price was reasonable and it is definitely one of the better options in the food court!

I have known this place for 30 plus years and every time I tell myself this is it and no more going there but again every tine I go there I hope that the food is warm but unfortunately the food is as cold as ice, I don't understand why the owner does not warm up the food and offer customers, I went there last Friday and same old, cold food. I do not recommend this place at all.

Food quality was not the greatest and slightly overpriced for what you get.

Had lunch here with a colleague. The person who took our order was very friendly and recommended different options based on our dietary requirements and preferences. They accommodated changes to a meal to make sure we got what we wanted. Food arrived within a reasonable amount of time. The location is really nice within the food court so we sat outside. I ordered one chicken and one lamb skewer meal with a side salad. It was a decent portion size. The meat was cooked well. I was offered a traditional Persian desert, a baclava which is a small piece of folded pastry with some sugar and syrup. It was a bigger portion than I expected and whilst tasty it was too sweet to finish the entire piece. I'll definitely be back to try some of the other options.

Fours stars for the quantity of food and the price. The food itself was actually pretty good considering the food court setting. I've had better Persian food and I wouldn't go out of my way to get it again from here. If I'm shopping in the mall and hungry I will most likely return. The flavor of the food was tasty, but what threw me off was the steamed texture of the meat. I saw the guy putting the meat on the grill but I'm wondering if they were precooked? Located in the mall on the third level you can find adjacent parking in the mall lot with first 90 minutes free. The quantity of food in the Charlie Kabob plate is literally enough to feed two people.
