I'm not sure why this place isn't more popular on the regular?! Great food, great small restaurant vibe, cool interior deco and great service. Not to mention it shares the next door Sushi Roku menu! Outdoor seating available... Recommended 10/10!

It wasn't traditional Japanese Robata style but foods were very good. And service was excellent

Skewers are very delicious. There is no inferiority compared to the delicious robatayaki restaurants in Japan. Happy hour is a great deal. Correspondence of store clerk was very good, too.

This place is a hidden gem in Santa Monica some of the best tasting freshest sushi I've had in a long time I highly recommend

Metered street parking or you can park at the free 90 min lots nearby if you don't mind walking a block or so. Open for dinner only, Mondays and Tuesdays closed. I didn't find anything to be really exciting here. Everything I tried was meh. The only thing that stood out were the Brussels sprout chips and burrata salmon, those were yum. The edamame were too limp and not cooked well. The rolls were ok. The yellowtail diced chiles was lacking something. The popcorn shrimp tempura were ok, pretty good. I highly do not recommend the jidori chicken in teriyaki sauce. It was very dry, tasted like bad cafeteria food. I couldn't get myself to eat it. The japanois filet mignon was pretty good, cooked well and extremely tender. The service was the plus side to this place, very attentive.

We came here Friday 7pm and they had only 1 other party besides us. It ring the red flag bell in my head and I was correct- food was Bad. We came here for yakitori, it’s a rip off, every little skewer is 10 dollars or more- and imagine heavy salty ketch up on everything, that’s how they made it and how it taste like. I was traumatized after the 100+ dinner.

Celebrated my nephew's 21st Birthday here. They are closed Mondays & Tuesday's but will open for a party or special event. So we were there Monday with the Restaurant all to ourselves. The food was presented buffet style & everything served was absolutely amazing. They served the food in small batches because as we were told, they wanted it to be as fresh as possible. And it all was. The whole staff was incredible, they were so attentive to any request or need we had. The food was so incredible, really delicious. I don't remember the names of everything I ate but I tried it all & there wasn't a single item served that I didn't like. They served this steak that was so tasty, tender, melt in your mouth. Mashed potatoes that were seriously the best I had ever eaten in any restaurant. Grilled veggies that were seasoned to perfection. Sushi that was so fresh, you didn't know you were eating raw fish. This is a great place to take anyone you are wanting to impress to. I also want to mention that I have a sensitive stomach. I ate more than usual because the food was so delicious. I walked out & my stomach felt amazing, satisfied. Not a single thing I ate agitated my stomach. I will have to come back again!!

The food is absolutely awful if you’re looking to get quality skewers or sushi. The grilled oysters were super super salty, edamame tasted old, sushi was terrible, etc. Both bartender and waitress were great and nice but no amount of good service can make up for the horrible food. This place is fine if you want a beer, but by all means stay away from the food if you have any standards for Japanese food. I seriously have no idea why this place is above a 4.0

The service and the food were good but we were freezing as they leave their windows wide open and there was a cold spell happening. We had to leave our coats on the entire time.

Excellent Robatayaki, or fireside cooking as it translates to. By the same group that owns Sushi Roku, they deliver a near perfect dinning experience. That said, I will start by saying I wouldn’t recommend coming here if you are starving. The portions are small and expensive, usually one skewer per order. The bill really adds up when you want to try everything… and believe me you will want to try everything. The skewered meats were absolutely delicious. The American Kobe Beef with black pepper sauce was amazing. The Kohitsuji (lamb) and Jidori Chicken are great options, but by far the biggest sleeper pick for best dish was the Bacon Wrapped Jumbo Shrimp. The chili garlic sauce on it…. I almost wanted to order the left over sauce to-go it was that good.I was also happy to see that they brought over my favorite specialty roll from Sushi Roku, the White Lotus, with that signature wasabi truffle soy.Overall it’s a great restaurant, especially if you’re a person who loves sushi and Japanese BBQ. I highly recommend.

Our server was so sweet! We had our two big dogs with us so we sat on the outside patio, and they were very accommodated. They turned on the heaters for us and even brought a bowl of water out for our dogs! Great location too, it was dark when we went but I think there would have been a partial beach view from the patio in the daylight. We had ramen, a sushi roll, and one beef skewer. The skewer was pretty small but sooo good! Everything was really good. My mom was with me and doesn't eat seafood but I'm a sushi fanatic, so it's always so nice to find a place that has sushi AND a full menu of non-seafood items! She's always willing to tag along with me but I hate dragging her to sushi when her only option is teriyaki chicken. Overall great place, we'll definitely be back!
