this has always been our go to place for takeout. The last two times have been very, very disappointing. And last night I actually had plastic wrap in one of my rolls. And the rolls just didn't taste right. The spider roll I think had Kewpie mayonnaise on it or something and it not only looked gross, it ruined the roll. Neither of us finished our dinner. Very sad because the woman at the front desk is so friendly and sweet . Unfortunately, we won't be back.

Ordered a carburetor roll which was not like they used to make it. Small piece of shrimp tempura in the center topped with a small amount of crab. Veggie Tempura was watery and soggy not crispy. Feels like the quality has gone down from what it used to be.

I was at Sushi Tozai today as they aced their new health certificate today. I had to go food but the place was really clean and theservice was great. Try the Sebastopol roll. VERY PLEASED with the place !!!

This place is exceptional. The miso soup is usually an afterthought at many places, but it really shines here. We got a variety of rolls, including some daily specials (California roll topped with Eel was a stand out) and some standby rolls. The Carburetor roll, while not the most appetizing name is worth ordering. My favorite roll at any sushi restaurant is Salmon Skin, and this was probably the best I have had almost anywhere. Little bits of nicely seasoned belly meat and crispy skin were honestly the star and everyone at the table really liked it. The pink lady was the only roll that didn't rock me, but the quality of the tuna in there was undeniably good I had just never tried the soy wrap and I missed the seaweed flavor. All in all fantastic quality and price. Would recommend.Vegetarian options: Vegan rolls and specials abound with a few other options.Parking: Small on site lot, on street parking.Kid-friendliness: There were plenty of kids in there early. No kids menu, but they had some kid friendly rolls like fried chicken and veggie rolls.

Avocado roll is $7 for 6 pieces, mostly rice... Other than that, quick and simple service. Highly reccomend getting an air filter to have for the small dining room. It was a bit stuffy and uncomfortable and I won't be returning in person due to that. Thanks!Vegetarian options: Avocado roll is $7 for 6 pieces, mostly rice. Always delicious and fresh! Tozai is my favorite sushi spot! Great service and ambiance. Prawn martini is better than anywhere else! I used to have to share it with my kids but now they demand their own! My favorites are the new wave roll, hamachi nigiri, escolar nigiri and sake nigiri. My family loves the Sebastopol roll! Mermaid roll is really good, too!
Beautiful ambiance. Super friendly hospitable staff. And delicious food. The price is right, too. Totally recommend for a cozy, yummy meal that leaves your belly happy & your heart warm.

We placed a takeaway order for the veggie dragon rolls from their specials menu and were not disappointed at all. They are so so incredibly flavorful - especially with the creamy sauce on the side. Highly recommend!Vegetarian options: So many options to choose from which is unusual for most sushi places - you willNot fall short of choice here as a vegetarian.

Absolutely love coming here. This sushi spot has been a tradition for us after every Halloween night. Food is delicious and love all the vegan options. It's a cozy little spot that offers lots of specialty rolls. The service is excellent here too. This is my fav sushi spot on this side of town. We really enjoy the atmosphere and feel super satisfied every time.
