The bagels are pretty good. They ran out of a couple types of bagels and that's a good sign. The last three times I went there in the past month it appears that the bagels are not as fresh as they used to be. I'm not sure why! I Love the New York Bagel with Cream Cheese, Loxs, Onions. Sprouts and No Capers.
This place has been on my list for a while even though I'm not a huge bagel guy. We came at 9:30am on Saturday and the line was out the door. They only have 6 or 7 small tables outside if you want to "dine in," which we did - we wanted the nice vibe. We had to wait about 10 minutes after getting our food before a table opened up. Hanks is about a 15-minute walk from where I live. The Sherman Oaks location. You have to get there fairly early because sometimes they run out of bagels because they are very popular. (I am not a morning person and neither is my son. So to us fairly early means before 1 p.m.) But on the weekends we love to walk to Hanks, because they are so good!
