Haven't been to this restaurant in 40 years, but I remember having a great meal then so I wanted to give it a try. It's pretty much old school ambience. The staff are really nice and we tried the family style dish with lots items along with Octopus and the roasted lamb. Everything was great and we had plenty of leftovers for a couple of days. I particularly liked the humus and other side dishes. It felt like we were having dinner at somebody's house. If you are looking for authentic greek food I would this is one of your best options.

Absolutely delightful experience. This place is a gem. Staff went above and beyond, offering quality service. The food was delectable. I ordered the Grilled Chicken dish and the potatoes, rice, sauce and chicken were cooked to perfection. I highly recommend getting the flaming cheese cooked with Cognac, it's a gourmand experience waiting to happen.

Three star food, five star environment, two star service. They're octopus is unlike any octopus we've ever had before and not in a good way ...we checked with our neighbor sitting next to us they thought the same I would avoid that. The Spanicopita was great, lamb shank was good, but some areas were dry. Will be back to order a Greek salad next time. It's very loud with a party environment. The outdoor areas a little quieter. The band was six stars!!!!

Disappointing. The food was meh. The tables were very tightly squeezed together to accommodate as many diners as possible. Did not feel like a comfortable dinner where you can enjoy your meal. And the food itself was mushy, bland and warm (not hot). Seemed like they reheated the food. Pass.

I really wanted to like this place. I've driven past it so many times and always thought of dining there. The ambiance was cute and there was live music but the food was not good at all. I tried to eat a few bites but could not continue. Even the salad I got was super mediocre - close to no dressing.

The chicken Greek salad here is INSANE. It's pricey but honestly the best chicken salad I've ever had. It's also a large portion so you can save and have for leftovers next day. So much flavor, really tender and well seasoned chicken. Both filling and refreshing.

The Great Greek restaurant on Ventura Blvd is an authentic Grecian eatery in Los Angeles, CA. The environment is charming and the service is outstanding! The food is mouthwatering. The Greek Meatball and Pasta in red sauce is a fantastic heavy dish!

We went here recently because it had been a few years since we last visited. Arrived at lunchtime which is great because it's not crowded then. The inside appears clean and well organized when you walk in the door. Service was very good and attentive. Food came out in a timely manner. The lemon chicken soup is excellent and different. Many things to choose from on the menu. There's live music I believe because in the back is a small stage with string instruments and a sound system. Food is unique to Greek tastes and tastes good. Highly recommended.

I made a spontaneous reservation for a belated birthday celebration. It had easily been 10 years since the last time we dined at the Great Greek. What I remembered about it was better than average food, noisy children, and people getting up to dance to the loud Greek music. Well, it was a perfectly lovely evening. Our servers were professional and helpful without being pushy, or nowhere to be found when we needed something. The music was a little loud, but not disturbing, and the crying babies left shortly after we settled in. I chose the Peasant Salad which was ample, and a side order of Greek Meatballs "Keftethes." My husband had the The Blue Mediterranean with Chicken, and an order of fried artichokes with tangy yogurt tzatziki dip. Our nephew had the Combination Greek Platter which looked and smelled delicious. He was in heaven eating their oven-roasted lamb, and took half of his meal home to enjoy the next day. My salad was crisp with just the right amount of dressing and the meatballs were yummy. I cut a couple in half and wrapped bread around them to make an improvised sandwich. Good, but I would give a 'B-' to the quality of the bread. They sell a basket of pita, but I was craving good, crusty Greek bread. A bit disappointing. When I made reservation, I mentioned it was my nephew's birthday, so I was delighted when they presented him was a large glass of rich vanilla ice cream, sitting atop a nice pool of caramel, with whipped cream and walnuts -- and 3 spoons! So thoughtful, so good. We were the last customers to leave (even the balalaika player left before us!) But they were happy to let us linger, and did not hurry us out, even though they were beginning to close up. We had to ask for the bill. We'll be back sooner!

Amazing vibes no matter if it's lunchtime or dinner time. I highly recommend the vegetarian platter. The brown butter pasta and lamb burger or gyros also top favorites. I'm obsessed with the cold hummus trio, the Spanakopita, the Cognac-Flamed Cheese "Saganaki" & my favorite soup in all the world Avgolemono. Their bread is amazing and so if their pita bread; get both don't cheat yourself. Service is immaculate everytime. Local spot great folks work here, you're treated well and food is amazing. There's live music in the evenings too.
