“Yelp does it again, helping us find another fabulous establishment. We were quite hungry after a drive and a little sightseeing and ready for a late lunch, preferably something healthy-ish. While there was an A-frame sign out front that said Bluefish, the establishment we walked into was more of a liquor store with small bar in front. We initially thought we were in the wrong place. Perhaps some of the reviews had mentioned this, but I hadn't dug deep. Luckily, after walking out of the store, we walked back in towards the back and located Bluefish. While there are some Poké combos you can choose from, you can also customize your own bowl. The four of us each decided to customize and we were not disappointed! At an hour before closing they were out of white rice, but we were all OK with eating brown rice (plus adds to health factor). You can select your protein, rice and/or salad, sauce(s) and unlimited toppings. I got spicy tuna, salmon, Yuzu something rather (Mayo) and garlic ponzu sauces and many yummy toppings. The fish was quite fresh tasting, the sauces on point (yuzu Mayo was great!) and the rice cooked just right. I really like that you can select an unlimited amount toppings when you customize your bowl, even avocado! The service was also good, especially the young lady working the front. She helped me with my canned margarita order, sharing a little story about the drink's creator, and was sweet enough to put my drink in a glass with ice. The liquor store also has quite a nice selection of wine, liquor, beer and other canned / bottled adult beverages (sorry, no pictures of their selection). And the section adjacent to Bluefish has a small selection of Asian market goods. My fam gave me props for finding another good place to eat at. 4.5 stars. Thanks Yelp for not letting us down!“

“Best sushi place in north shore! We first visited here several summers ago on a vacation and had all of our staples: sashimi, rolls, sake, etc. Everything was delicious, and I would say superior to what we even expected considering how few sushi restaurants are in the area. The location is great right in Tahoe City, and there's a nearby parking lot near a mall and a whole bunch of other shopping, so I strongly recommend making a day of it.“

“Best Japanese dining in Lake Tahoe. Dined at samurai several times before and after Covid. The food is always delicious. It's a gem in South Lake Tahoe. Samurai has a central fireplace seating area and sushi bar seating along with normal tables. Sapporo beer there was one server and assistant for all tables when I last visited. Our waitress and her assistant did great. It's not fair to compare samurai to other Bay Area Japanese restaurants. I will return to samurai next time I'm in South Lake Tahoe.“

“As we do as often as we can, our family gathered to our family cabin in Tahoma for the week. We saw the sushi banner in the parking lot of the post office and other small businesses and were very excited at the thought of picking up sushi that was just a 5 minute walk from our cabin! Well, we ordered nearly every roll on their menu as well as some daily specials items. It was all delicious and the fish quality was superb!! Such a friendly duo working there. What Ana amazing addition to the tahoe community! We will likely order again on our last night just to support them and have a perfect sushi meal!“
