“Good quality food. Healthy options. Great service. My favorite is the braised beef and mushroom with mashed potatoes. The mango tart is amazing.”
“First time here & I will say that this little hole in the wall was fantastic! The food was great, but the service was beyond phenomenal! We told her that this was our first time & she made recommendations & even brought us a few things to try (on the house)! After dinner, she brought us hot tea & even sent me home with a few tea bags for later! We will definitely be coming back!”

“Nothing to compare with locally because we are from Colorado Springs where the best local ramen (Rooster Ramen) closed years ago and we haven’t had anything good since other than a few hit pot places. Otherwise we were impressed by the service (Lucia paid closed attention to our table) and the speed at which our ramen and katsu was placed at our table. Broth, noodles and meat were excellent. No complaints from us and reasonably priced!”

“We celebrated a Bday and they made it such a memorable experience. The staff was amazing and the food was incredible. Tasted just like Japan 😋. I 10/10 recommend and will definitely be coming back 👌”
“What a fantastic discovery. I was craving calzones and used to have a spot in Los Feliz which I would go out of my way for. After trying a few places which fell short of the mark in South Bay, I almost gave up on finding authentic Italian food locally. The search was worth it as this is now going to be one of my forever places to come on a regular basis. From the calzone, to the pizza, salads and even the Cannoli Siciliani Pistacchio, everything has been nothing short of amazing. To top it off, it’s family run and they are all the sweetest and most warm people I’ve encountered at any local restaurant. If you haven’t tried them yet, you need to stop by.”

“My daughter and I had the Curry Chicken Pizza with a side of masala sauce, a mango lassi, and lemon pepper wings. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious. We had great service with Nitin. Highly recommend!”
“They offer a wide variety of dishes, ranging from traditional Chinese cuisine to creative Western cuisine, and there are many surprising combinations. In addition, the restaurant pays attention to the selection of raw materials and the innovation of cooking techniques to ensure that each dish can bring you the most extreme taste experience”

“Great experience. Gives that local vibe that I love. Great selection of beers and food with multiple TVs for your viewing pleasure. Our server was great as well. I believe her name is Ashley. She had a friendly personality and I can see myself coming in asking for her next time.”
“Stopped by today and had a great experience! The staff were friendly and inviting. We asked to customize our 2-taco plate with one fish and one shrimp taco, garden salad and black bean salsa sides. It was delicious! A great value at just under $10 including 2 sides.”
“Food was EXCELLENT! All staff made sure to check on me and whoever was waiting showing good care and tentativeness. My waitress Aurora recommended the Spanish Latte and it was delicious. I ordered the Stuffed French Toast and I swear I could’ve teared up. Great menu selection and the atmosphere is pleasantly simple for having such high quality food. Definitely a place to keep coming back to! :D”
“Excellent beer and cod fish and chips. I had a good vist this past Tuesday. Plan to return with friends. Thanks.”

“Came in for lunch and we were the 1st customers. We sat down and viewed the menu. Waitress did not bring us tea and after 5 minutes I had to call her over to take our order. It was definitely different than my experience with my mom. The food was good, but not as good as my previous visit.”
“Great place to hang out with friends! It’s our first visit so didn’t realize it’s more like a bar than restaurant -.- we ordered too much… the roasted chicken is soooo good! We ordered garlic rice as a side of roasted chicken. And all fired dishes are highly recommended! People at next table order grapefruit drinks and smells so good! Already plan to go a second time and order the grapefruit drink!
2nd review: Add one more pic for grapefruit drink & orange soda! Yes we went there again”
“First time trying this because I saw the sushi burrito photos and ITS SO GOOD!! Genuinely so good I ordered it twice in one day, I tried the spicy tuna/baked salmon burrito then to-go I got the salmon/baked salmon burrito! Cant recommend this place enough the freshness, taste, and price is all on point!”
“Best authentic Japanese food! My husband and I live in the LA city, and we drive to Torrance occasionally on the weekends, just to get Hachi! It’s so delicious. I can’t stop 😂
I wish they had one in LA. The food is consistently good and on point, and so authentic and high quality like the foods that I had in Japan. My Japanese friend recommended this place, so I knew it would be legit but it’s quite mind-blowing. I love getting motsu nabe, saba roll, and the beef tongue here in addition to suntory draft ✨and make sure to get a reservation ahead!”
“I have an unreasonable amount of affection for Nordstrom restaurants. West or east coast, if there’s a Nordstrom restaurant somewhere near me, I’ve probably eaten there. I’ve had a Nordstrom card forever. I’m the audience for this place. So Bazille in Torrance isn’t getting judged against some imaginary standard. I’m judging it against a lot of Nordstrom meals. And the frustrating thing is that the food here is mostly very good.
The chicken tacos are probably the thing I’ve ordered most. Crispy shells, ground chicken, avocado, cheese, greens, that cilantro chipotle situation happening on top. When everything is right, they’re fantastic. The flavor combination just works. They can get a little sloppy, the chicken has occasionally been aggressively salty and they don’t travel particularly well. My most recent delivery arrived with the tacos already getting soggy despite ordering the aioli on the side. Still good. Just nowhere near what they are fresh at the restaurant.
The cilantro lime chicken salad is essentially the same universe dismantled onto a plate and it’s another favorite. The chicken here is surprisingly good across the menu. The chicken katsu is solid, the burger is excellent and the kids’ menu is legitimately useful if you’re eating with young children rather than treating them as an inconvenience somebody accidentally brought into the restaurant.
The tomato basil soup deserves its own mention because that thing survived delivery beautifully. Piping hot when it arrived and tasted exactly as it should. Even the fries are good. Just do yourself a favor and ask for them without the rosemary unless rosemary on french fries happens to be your thing.
Where Bazille loses me is service. It’s wildly inconsistent. I’ve had one server here repeatedly who is fantastic. Warm, attentive, remembers what the table needs, everything you want. Then I’ve had visits where getting basic things feels like filing paperwork with a municipal government.
The host stand might be my least favorite part of the restaurant. The physical setup itself is awkward. There’s this strange barrier/bar arrangement where you’re never entirely sure where you’re supposed to stand or whether anyone has acknowledged you. The welcome can range from genuinely friendly to complete indifference. For a Nordstrom restaurant, where hospitality is supposed to be part of the proposition, that inconsistency is particularly noticeable.
And apparently I’m not imagining the service issue. Other recent reviewers describe staff chatting among themselves, difficulty getting refills and forgotten requests. That’s pretty close to the inconsistency I’ve experienced myself. I can’t speak to some of the more dramatic complaints in the reviews because they didn’t happen to me and I’m only reviewing what I’ve experienced.
The room itself is pleasant, although the architecture is a little peculiar and depending on where you’re sitting, the California sun can absolutely cook you through the windows.
But here’s the simplest test. Will I come back? Absolutely. There are too many things on the menu I genuinely enjoy, the kids can eat here and when you get one of the good servers, Bazille reminds you why Nordstrom restaurants have been such an oddly reliable part of my life for so long.
Fix the front of house consistency, pay a little more attention to execution and this could easily be a five. Until then, it’s a very solid four.”

“Indoor👍🏼👍🏼we opted for it but was surprised when they ushered us to the back portion of the restaurant. It makes you feel like you really are in an authentic Japanese Izakaya restaurant.”
“This was our first time eating Okonomiyaki! We didn't get a chance to try when were in Japan so was happy to find this gem. The food was a delicious as it looks! Noodles were perfectly crispy and the sauce really brought the whole dish together. It was SO good. Also got the omurice--tasted different than the one we had in Japan, but still good. Super nice staff and restaurant is baby friendly with a booster/high chair available for use. Great place, super authentic.”

“Always a great experience at this restaurant and we just love our regular waitress in fact if she’s not there we wait to sit in her section Elizabeth is our favorite server, we’re not saying that we don’t like the others but she is our favorite and is very nice and knows what makes us comfortable extra napkins & coffee creamer etc. just the little things that make us feel comfortable she really is the best in our eyes”
“PEARL AND ALEXIS WERE SUPER PROFESSIONAL AND I liked their uniforms..snazzy!!
Almost thought I would get a filet miñon they both looked so snazzy.
Great service!
My Double Cheeseburger w/o cheese, with an extra patty was perfectly made and the temperature was hot.
Fabulous visit.
I am posting here because I needed to give kudos yet the receipt was faded due to low ink, I guess, and could not take the survey.

“A friend brought me their Matcha almond croissant, the Black forest Cake even though it really wasn't a black forest it was totally delicious as well as the matcha almond croissant. The croissant can rival any French bakery. It was buttery, soft and absolutely delicious. Thank you ,JJ Bakery”
“Delicious, great value, and great service. Katsu Bar is an Asian fusion fast-casual restaurant with a bunch of well-priced options for lunch and dinner. We had the chicken katsu curry udon, the tteokbokki, and the rosemary pork katsu sando. Portion sizes were solid as well.”
“Authentic, high quality yakitori restaurant with a large Japanese clientele. We arrived at the restaurant at 6:45pm on a Sunday and the restaurant was full except for the 1 table we had reserved. We tried most of the chicken yakitori selections, and a few of the beef, pork and fish ones as well as the vegetables. They were all good and comparable to the high end yakitori restaurants in New York City. The service was friendly and efficient, considering there were only 2 people covering the entire restaurant. Overall a good yakitori restaurant.”
“BEST PIZZA IN THE SOUTH BAY! My boyfriend introduced me to this little gem a few years ago and I can honestly say any other pizza I try since doesn't come close to the amazing taste that Jack's pizza makes. We're lucky enough to live 3 minutes away from this place, so we usually pick up and bring the pie home, but it's always piping hot and perfection every time. I honestly don't go anywhere else for pizza since my first bite of Jack's pizza, and I can pretty much guarantee you won't either. This place has been around for a long long time, I think somewhere around the 80's and I hope they stay around making magic in the kitchen for many years to come. A sincere thanks to all the staff at Jack's! Stay awesome and don't change!”
“David is the definition of Dave’s hot chicken he greeted me with respect and said if I needed anything to call his name and he listened when I called his name. He deserves to be promoted or get a raise cuz of his me he loves his job. Whenever your here ask for him”
“We are blessed to have this King Mediterráneo in Torrance. The food is delicious and very generous on the portion served. When I go there, I always try to say hello to Ara or Norah. It is such a pleasure to see and talk to them, they make me feel that we are long time friends. For sure I recommend this place and give them a FIVE STAR rating. I assure you will not be disappointed. !!!!!!”
“Went there today for a light snack. I bought a Nutella and Bananas Foster Mochi Donut (it really did taste like Bananas Foster) and it was soo good. Service was far out, the guy manning the counter (wish I got his name) was super friendly and cool. Overall really good experience and would def be worth going to whenever you’re in the mall.”
“Food was EXCELLENT! All staff made sure to check on me and whoever was waiting showing good care and tentativeness. My waitress Aurora recommended the Spanish Latte and it was delicious. “Marsha was incredible. We were looking for someone who could provide all the dessert for our wedding, bring us something other than a traditional wedding cake experience, and also bring some extra flair to our big day. Marsha did all that and more. Our cake table was decorated so beautifully! She made the most delicious cupcakes of all different flavors for our guests to enjoy. She even made an ADORABLE cake topper for us that everyone raved about. In addition, Marsha made us a gorgeous, delicious, moist 3 layer cake , and she even was able to bring a ROLLED ICE cart too! People could not get over how cool it was to have rolled ice cream at our wedding, especially because Marsha had extra cupcakes to put in with the ice cream. She was so collaborative, easy to work with, and fun. Everything we asked her to do, she accommodate, often gently giving her sage advice along the way. We could not possibly recommend Marsha any higher than we do. She is absolutely incredible and soooo many people raved about their experience with her at our wedding. 10/10 for everything!!”
“The menu offers a large selection from which to choose, however, there are, also, weekly specials that run every weekday. I should mention the Happy Hour bar menu which has six to eight tasty selections at a great price. My favorite are Bob's mini tacos. I prefer the beef tacos and I wish that they would put them on the regular menu, they are that good.
The real star of the establishment is the ale. They are all good and even better than good. Particularly the IPA, the India Pale Ale. Bob has crafted one of the best IPA's in the world. A west coast style (very hoppy) IPA that does and will bring IPA enthusiasts from all over to enjoy. Fortunately, one can enjoy the IPA, as well as any of the other outstanding ales, at home due to the availability of the growlers. Then again, the pub is an enjoyable place to have your ale. A friendly and attentive staff makes it a comfortable environment whether in or outside the restaurant area or sitting at the bar. The bar is separated from the restaurant by a decorative wall that has enough open areas and glass to enable patrons to see the other side, yet still feel separated from each other. Situated in Old Torrance, just off Torrance Blvd., it has a free parking lot next to it as well as free street parking in front. The building is an old power company building that has a semi-industrial feel inside, yet comfortable. There are outside tables and chairs if you wish to eat/drink outside.
And the food is first-rate. Come for the ale and stay for the food.”
Drive-Thru Restaurants
“We don’t visit the South Bay often but when we do, it’s a must to Yelp and find someplace new to eat. In search of a Japanese restaurant that offered a menu loaded with options and was both fast and affordable, we lucked out when we discovered Hoka Hoka Express. This place is everything Japanese wrapped all into one - food, beverages (leaded & unleaded), snacks, porcelain teacups, tote bags, cute collectibles, you name it!
I can’t say I’ve ever been to a restaurant that offered a menu item like the Normandie - salmon, spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, spicy ponzu, spicy mayo and served over your choice of base. I went with the Half & Half which was a mix of sushi rice and spring mix. So good! The only reason I didn’t award a five star was due to the service. The woman who was working the counter was not overly friendly, so maybe she was new or was having a bad day. Regardless, I highly recommend a visit to Hoka Hoka Express for all things Japanese!”
“Food is not bad. Grill is very small - good for 2 people but not for 3 or more.
Ventilation is pretty bad, your hair and clothes won’t survive the bbq odor with smoke directly hovering into your face most of the time. Some people might actually enjoy this dinning experience, but definitely not for all.
Price is on the higher side, quality is fine, overall value is average.”
“Johnny and Jorge made us feel like family. Great beers. Nice vibe to complement the vibe at the HB location. Now I have another amazing l place to go when in town. Love from Littleton Colorado!”
“Authentic, high quality yakitori restaurant with a large Japanese clientele. We arrived at the restaurant at 6:45pm on a Sunday and the restaurant was full except for the 1 table we had reserved. “Really liked this place. It offers quick prep moderately priced sushi that tastes good for moderately priced sushi. The only weakness was the shrimp nigari which was skimpy on the shrimp. My meal included miso soup, salad and roll, wrap & funnel sushi. I had 2 bites of the roll and drank some soup before I took the picture. I was hungry!”
“As a regular who has been hitting the Torrance taproom since year one in 2011 Ive Been a huge fan of Smog City and they are still the best spot in Torrance for a solid pour. Their tap list is completely inclusive, making it just as easy for a beginner to find a gateway beer like Smog Czech Lager or Lil Bo Pils and for a seasoned enthusiast to find a heavy-hitting IPA like Amarilla Gorilla. Also, a quick shoutout to their new Mo-Del-Ish lager—it is honestly amazing. I’m crossing my fingers they decide to make it a year-round staple instead of just a seasonal drop! Honestly if you been thinking about getting into the craft game Smog City is you!”
“Great service! The food was delicious and served hot and fresh. Homemade pie was being walked around for purchase; great way to sell delicious pie! The diner is cozy but there is outdoor seating as well. Super friendly staff, they get a lot of regulars which makes good for fun conversations.”
“Love this place!! Favorite restaurant in the Mitsuwa food court. The prices are amazing, especially for the kake udon, it's only $5.95 even after the recent small price increase. Their weekday lunch special is also such great value, around $10 for a kake udon + 3 tempura/yakitori. The service is quick, and the employees there are so polite and kind. Great place all around. It can be a bit difficult to find parking sometimes though, especially on weekends.”
“This hidden gem is a staple of Torrance. Kudos to Muy Pronto's for stepping up, upgrading the establishment, bringing back staff of closed Lucio's and keeping the menu the same. Food is consistent, you know every time it will be the same. Salsa is great, you instantly know the taste. And if you go enough, the staff will know you. Tip: They have the best Cheeseburger in the area!!!!!!!!”
“it was yakitori and izakaya place. it was sooo nice and good. it's pricey though, but that's what fine dining is right..!? so i think it is pretty good, to come with famz or colleagues 😃👍🥰”
“Absolutely love this place! My go-to bar in Torrance. The vibes are cozy and colorful. The drinks are great. And I especially love coming on Tuesdays for some karaoke. Great spot, highly recommend!”
“Exited the freeway to use the restroom, and the places looked great, and the lady at the bar was very friendly, greeted me with smile and welcomed me, when I went for the ladies room as soon as I walked in. I didnt have time to stay and try the food, since I had flowers in car, but I appreciated the friendly attitude, even when I was not a client.”
“Fabulous prime rib and lobster. The restaurant is definitely a landmark with amazing food and service.”
“Excellent store for supplements and health food. Very wide selection of products.”
“Still great after all these years A nice variety of meat selections and super tasty.”

“the chicken katsu was thicc!! btw the manager is hella sexy XD”
“Service was friendly, helpful and efficient. The kind of service hoped for in a dining out experience. My husband loved the spaghetti & meatballs and my BBQ Quesadilla was outstanding.”
“Love to eat here . People are friendly. Hit the spot ! Thank you”
“I visited for lunch and really enjoyed the experience. While having a happy hour beer, I ordered the steak and pasta. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare, and the sauce had a familiar, comforting flavor that reminded me of Japanese cuisine. I truly appreciated being able to enjoy this kind of taste in the U.S.
The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, making it a very pleasant place to spend time. I would highly recommend this restaurant.”
“Delicious quick Thai food! We got the Tom Kah, pad Thai, and pineapple fried rice. They also have some condiments for you to grab yourself if you want an extra punch. Worth it to come check out!”
“This is by far the best all you can eat AYCE Kbbq restaurant in Torrance. The staff were incredibly attentive and A++ for the cleanliness of the restaurant. 😊 I really like that most of the common cookable meats are out on the salad bar as well as vegetables, appetizers, all the sauces, fruits 🤤 all readily available to everyone - so you can easily get more. 😉 I highly recommend trying the beef belly, beef rib finger and marinated short ribs each cut was tender and flavorful. The cheesecorn, shrimp tempura, tofu soup and baked mussels were delicious side options and cooked to perfection. 😊💯”
“Jang Su Jang is a rather popular Korean restaurant in Torrance, Los Angeles. The main dining room is spacious and bright. However, the washrooms are not that clean. Staff is efficient. The authentic Korean cuisine is delicious and reasonably priced. Highly recommend the hot and flavorful Yukhae Dolsot Bibimbap (USD 26).”
“On a Monday night with no leftovers at home, I decided to check out Komatsu in Torrance after a friend recommended it. I headed there straight after work, but I would highly recommend making a reservation for your visit. They only seem to operate for about three hours for lunch and another three hours for dinner. The restaurant is run entirely by a Japanese husband-and-wife duo—the husband cooking and the wife serving—so things move a bit slowly, but you just have to be patient because the food is incredible! 🕒🍱
The place smells amazing, and the cozy interior feels exactly like a local neighborhood restaurant in Japan. The menu is quite diverse, mostly focusing on comforting Japanese teishoku (set meals) served with rice. It honestly feels like the kind of meal a Japanese grandmother would prepare for you, where every bit of the experience relies entirely on amazing, authentic flavor. Just a heads-up on the service: they are definitely not unfriendly, but do not expect the typical, hyper-friendly American style of service. They let the food do the talking. 🏡🥢
We ordered the #6 Hamburg Steak with Demi-Glace Sauce Combo, the #15 Black Pork Cutlet Combo, the #19 Black Pork Steak with Stamina Sauce Combo, and the spicy tomato appetizer. Not a single dish disappointed us. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the Stamina Sauce on the pork steak was a massive highlight. I am already looking forward to returning soon to try their Oyakodon! 🥩🍅”

“A very typical OG experience. The one thing that frustrates me is that we always order the endless breadsticks and refillable boat of Alfredo sauce and I swear they are trained to never ask if you would like a refill on either lol... You have to ask each time and then wait 10 minutes. Just keep em' coming please 😀”
“My experience was very good and the food was delicious. I would defiently eat there again.”
“The server was so Great. He is so respectful, attentive and helpful. He gives suggestions of what I will order being my first time in Wadatsumi. Thank you very much for the Awesome service.😊 I'll definitely come back with my friends.💯”
“My first review! My visit here last night was nothing short of a revelation in the art of sushi dining. Celebrating its 17th year, this gem of a restaurant has not just stood the test of time; it has set the bar for what authentic Japanese cuisine can embody. Though it is not your modern izakaya nor fine-dining luxury, it firmly facets itself as the "OG" restaurant in the diverse Japanese dining scene. Immediately upon entering, I observed details of its classic entity by old decos of art, calligraphy, signs, photos, and handwritten notes. It was an ambiance that exuded warmth. I immediately felt the history and dedication woven into the fabric of this place. The owners have crafted not merely a restaurant but a sanctuary for those who appreciate the finer nuances of Japanese culture and cuisine. I opted for the sushi combo course. Each piece of sushi was a testament to the chef's mastery over his craft, with every ingredient shining through in a delicate balance of flavors and textures with a properly curated course. All the nigiri boasted freshness in a blend of tastes that was above satisfactory by the plate. But what truly sets Sushi Anza apart is the heart and soul poured into every aspect of the dining experience. From the attentive, yet unobtrusive service to the meticulous presentation of the dishes, you can feel the love and dedication that the owners have for their craft. It's this personal touch combined with an "aged" ambience that transforms a meal into an experience. In a world where the genuine essence of Japanese cuisine can sometimes be lost amidst fusion and innovation, Sushi Anza stands as a beacon of tradition and quality. Overall, my first visit here was a nostalgic journey through the very essence of Japanese tradition, guided by the hands of those who know and respect it the most. I cannot recommend Sushi Anza enough and look forward to many more visits. I hope to regain the same authentic warmth, excellence, and quality that hallmarks the culinary gems of Torrance.”
“I originally learned about Red Rock when I was in Japan. A local girl told me about this roast beef place that serves this tower of thinly sliced roast beef with a horseradish yogurt sauce.
I don't even like horseradish, so that didn't exactly sell me lol, but somehow the sauce doesn't really taste the way I expected and the whole thing works.
So when I found out there was a Red Rock in Torrance, obviously I had to see how it compared.
I came right when they opened, so it wasn't busy. They make everything fresh to order and even have a sign telling you to be patient. I ordered the smaller roast beef bowl and added the egg. Still good, and the egg definitely makes it better.
But the surprise was the hamburger steak.
It was only around $13, and normally this isn't something I'd get excited about. I'm usually not a huge fan of giant meatball/meatloaf-type things because I feel like the inside never has enough flavor. Then this came out covered in this super dark gravy and I wasn't expecting much.
It was bomb.
I actually think I liked the hamburger steak more than the roast beef, which I absolutely wasn't expecting. The roast beef is still good, but I'm really glad I tried something different instead of only ordering what I already knew.
There were several other things I wanted to try, including the omurice, so I'll definitely be back. There's also a dessert place next door that I need to investigate next time because apparently one stop wasn't enough lol.”
“My hand was for a size reference. This place is so good! I've been going often for lunch and the quality is consistent! I ordered the spicy bulgogi bento. It comes with a side salad, kimchi, pickled radish, cucumber, noodles, gyoza(1), rice and miso soup for $20. Can't beat a fresh meal (-:<”

“When you think about authentic Japanese noodle houses from the movies, this place is what probably will come to mind. Servers and entire staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food came quick and was very good. This would be my go-to sushi spot to bring friends just to show off the atmosphere. Highly recommend if you're looking for a good place to eat.”
“Absolution is a great place to catch a have on TV, Jane a beer or two, and food from a pop-up vendor. My buddies and I were there for the first World Cup game, Mexico vs S Africa.”
“Master tempura style cooking, light, airy, though fried the fresh taste of ingredients are still intact. Wait was not longer than 10 mins. Their new sushi, tempura box set meal, melt in your mouth , fresh ingredients, truly worth the trip and dining in for… must try”
“This is the best pizza we’ve had in the South Bay in years! The wings were also delicious and the fries were perfect. The live entertainment was also a huge perk. The musician was great! Can’t wait to come back!”
“It’s one of the cheapest buffets, now that everything is so expensive . They kept their prices , ITS THE BEST HIDDEN SECRETS around 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾”
“Authentic, super fresh sushi. All dishes ordered were delicious. Their uni was unbelievably fresh and sweet. Their service was also very quick, accurate and friendly! Plus all our favorite restaurants are all close by. We will be back!”
“I’ve been coming to Yamaya for years, back when dinner was the reason to visit. The quality of the beef has always been solid and while I still think places like Manpuku are a little more memorable, Yamaya has never really disappointed me.
These days, though, it’s lunch that keeps bringing me back. In a city where fifteen dollars barely buys a sandwich, Yamaya somehow serves one of the best lunch specials in the South Bay. It isn’t trying to impress you with theatrics. It simply gets the fundamentals right.
The yakiniku is grilled just enough to pick up a little char without drowning in sauce. A few thicker pieces can be slightly chewy, but the flavor is consistently balanced. The salad is simple, the miso soup is comforting even if it’s usually closer to warm than hot and then there’s the rice.
The rice deserves its own paragraph. Perfectly cooked, unlimited refills and paired with unlimited mentaiko and house pickles, it’s the kind of combination that makes you slow down and wonder whether another bowl is really such a bad idea. It’s simple food executed with enough confidence that it doesn’t need to hide behind unnecessary complexity.
The service has been a little inconsistent over the years, but on this visit it reminded me why hospitality still matters. Our server was warm, attentive and genuinely welcoming without feeling rehearsed. The restaurant was calm, a Japanese family chatted quietly at the next table and for an hour lunch felt refreshingly unhurried.
Is this the best yakiniku I’ve ever had? No. Is it one of the best values I’ve found in Los Angeles? Absolutely.
Some restaurants chase spectacle. Yamaya earns repeat customers instead. That’s a much harder thing to build. One of the lunch deals I recommend most often in the South Bay.”
“Tried all 7 of their empanadas and each one was so delicious! Pizza is great as well! I dont think I've ever ordered something that didn't taste delicious from pesto's.”
“Truly my new favorite Korean restaurant in LA area. Everything, from the banchan starters to the service, was perfect. I ordered their mushroom tofu soup, beef bibibamp, seafood pancake, and mackarel — every dish was flavorful and steaming hot. So comforting, I felt like I was in a halmeoni’s kitchen! Already can’t wait to return to try more of their extensive menu :)”
“The good variety of food, the craft beers, the good service from the waitresses and being in the Restaurant is super cozy, like being at home with family.”
“Great restaurant, I love the staff and the kimchi is phenomenal. The cheaper option has great meat options and the included bibimbop and steamed eggs are delicious. I'm a regular here once a week or so.”
“I've tried a bit of sushi in the area and this might be my new favorite.
I've had Waka Sakura in the Tokyo Central Gardena and the BluFish in Torrance. Those have their time and place but if you want high quality fish with a mom and pop feel, this is the spot. It's also been around 22 years at the time of my review!
Everything is a la carte and you know it's a solid place when there's no rolls loaded with crab meat, cream cheese and spicy versions of everything (aka when they try to get rid of past fish).
First I got salmon, fatty tuna and Japanese mackerel. Delightful all around (but I'd skip the salmon to have more of the other two). This cost $7-9/each fish and they come with two pieces per order.
Next - sea eel tempura ($12). A simple crispy treat and a change up from the usual shrimp or vegetable tempura. I probably wouldn't get again but it was nice to try!
The steamed egg custard is the cutest little dollop of sunshine. I would end or start the meal with it since it's a nice palate cleanser ($6). It comes hot. Be careful #experience
My last round of fish was seabream (my first time and it was sooo soft/buttery), Spanish mackarel, and sea eel. Like the other round $7-9 each for an order of two. I liked the saltiness of the Japanese mackarel better personally.
Great meal and I'm already making mental notes for things I want to try next time.”
“Beautiful outdoor seat in the shade
Delicious margarita and enchilada de mole negro on happy hour. The mole is incredibly delicious!
Madre! Was recommended by a friend and I can't recommend it enough to you!”
“I dropped by in the morning and pretty sure they were closed, but Santos was nice enough to hook me up with some beers anyway. Cannot wait to try out these unique drafts.”
“Found this place on DoorDash I’ve never had the food dine in but it’s great even in a To-Go box 25 minutes later. 😊😊 Been ordering here often the food is always on point huge quantity makes great leftovers. Everytime we order we choose different items. My goodness haven’t had a bad meal. I hardly ever write reviews but with restaurants currently struggling so much I def. want to make sure people give this place a chance. Would love to share a photo but ate everything before I got a chance to photograph it. 🤣🤣🤣 Can’t wait for things to go back to normal to actually Dine-In. Btw everytime I have questions about the menu items before ordering I call the owner and staff are always so nice. Keep up the good work”
“4.4? Y’all are crazy. $70 for the seasonal menu is an insane bargain, considering the quality of the sashimi and steak, let alone the 7 courses. Beautiful restaurant and wonderful service.”
“What amazing food, which is surpassed only by the professional and attentive service. I was fortunate to discover this gem in Torrance, California and it’s menu that features well executed classics created with care. The experience is one I recommend to anyone who loves good food and a welcoming atmosphere. Cheers to the staff who prepare and serve such fine food with genuine care. Try it and you’ll find yourself happy to discover this wonderful culinary experience.”
“First time here had the lasagna and it was delicious and so was the bread that comes with it”
“Excellent experience last night! We ordered the Avocado Eggrolls and shared a Hawaiian pizza…delicious! Madison is fantastic server…she was lovely and very knowledgeable on the menu. A+”
“This spot is great! Andrew took care of us from the beginning, welcoming us and showing us the menu! Food was delicious a bit pricey but worth your money! Cookie is fire as well! Definitely going to be back!”
“Great food - Great service! I came here 2 times in a week, each time greeted like a long time patron! The people are friendly, kind and attentive! The food was great each time with fresh ingredients and the salsa is awesome. Also, honest people, who kept my son’s jacket for several days after he forgot it at our last visit.”
“Good taste noodle, great customer service! interesting old Torrance neighborhood.”
“Really great food + specials and we had such a fabulous waitress we shall be back!”
“Nice place to go with friends to hangout. DJ on the weekends is very good, great music to dance to.”
“Antonio is the best chef in the Southbay, he pours a great glass of vino! Jess, provides great service.”
“We ordered noodles it was good. Crab rice fair and the stew was dry and not so much taste. Sticky rice was good. Nice cozy place. Would recommend. Lots of parking and neighboring asian stores.”
“Love Beaux, I can stop by for a quick drink and some appetizers to full dinner 🥘 I just love that this place reminds me of Tokyo back in my young days in Tokyo lol 😂 great cocktails and awesome Japanese whiskies🥃 Waitresses are super friendly and attentive, and this place is great for Nijikai nightcap as well ✨”
“This location has great ambience and beautiful decor. I had a reservation and it took about 10 minutes to be seated. Once we placed our order, it took an hour to receive our food. Our appetizer which was white truffle bread came out pretty quick but our entrée took an hour and we were starving by the time it came. Our waiter checked in one time and apologize for the wait but we still waited another 20 minutes. If it didn't take as long to receive our food, I would've given it five stars. He offered nothing but an apology which was disappointing. ”
“Came in to the restaurant while on vacation with family and the food was delicious, but our waitress Jasmine made the experience sooo much better! I’ve never been here before and she definitely sold it for me. Excellent job Jasmine. Will be coming back before we leave for sure!”
“Great food and value. Staff is friendly and I love the atmosphere, the food is overall pretty good, but on some days it may be lackluster, perhaps due to a different chef. It's basically the quintessential entry price buffet experience, but better for what you're paying than most.
Would definitely suggest visiting”

“We had the good fortune of stumbling across Moom Maam gelato when deciding on someone to cater our company's summer event. The flavors were delicious and many were options that you really can't find anywhere else. Their homemade waffle crisp was a surprise hit as well (and gluten free!), and with several vegan options, they were a caterer that truly could have a little something for people regardless of diet restrictions. And despite the whopping number of flavors they brought (15!!) the lines moved along at a good clip--managing to serve hundreds within 2 hours--and the portions were generous.”
“The quality of everything is great and so is the service. Everyone here is very kind and patient. There were a few people that helped us but Aliya I’m not sure how to spell her name was so sweet and had great recommendations. No frozen meat the Tom yum was delicious seafood was also great. The beef chuck eye roll was my favorite”
“Clean relaxing atmosphere. Service was very kind and warm. They aim to please. We had the Channa Masala, Garlic Nan, and Fried Cauliflower. Nice even flavor, very enjoyable, medium spicy but mild for me. The chef came out and greeted us. Very personable. We will be back to try other entrees. 4.85/5”
“Pho Hue Oi is a straight up hidden gem in Torrance and I am OBSESSED. Family owned, incredibly warm, and the service is next level — the kind where you feel like you’re eating at someone’s house and they actually want you there.
The food? Let me get into it. Their Lomo Saltado hits different because they put a Vietnamese spin on it and somehow it works even better than the original. Bold, saucy, wok-fired perfection.
Now. Mom’s rice cake dish — I cannot pronounce it but I CAN tell you exactly what’s in it: shrimp, crunchy pork rinds, finished with fish sauce and Thai chilies. It sounds simple. It is NOT simple. It is layered, funky, crispy, savory and I was not prepared for how good it was. That dish alone earns all five stars.
No alcohol here but their Thai tea is genuinely elite. Thick, creamy, cold — does the job beautifully.
If you haven’t been to Pho Hue Oi yet, what are you even doing? Go. Bring people. Order everything.”
“When for a Drink
And I came out with cheese bread and coxinha 😋😋 everything delicious 🤤 found a new spot and very nice service too.”
“I want to give a shoutout to the manager and rest of the team who accommodated our large group of 30+ people for early dinner (before heading to the LA Galaxy game in Carson)
We placed some orders ahead of time on the app for extra discount and to use gift cards, and place the rest of the orders when we arrived at the restaurant. The manager and team efficiently consolidated those orders for dining-in and everything came out quickly and fresh.
If the weather was cooler, their large patio would've been perfect for our large group but the manager allowed us to use the indoor space given the heat wave.
My only regret is that I didn't take advantage of their catering order menu to make a large group meal easier on myself. It's incredible how this Shake Shack team handled individual orders for 30+ people with various customization request.”
“muy bueno, lo recomiendo al 100, comida koreana.”
