I have visited The Cave twice, a week apart. The first time was for a wine pairing dinner, which we did with another couple. There were 5 courses (appetizer, salad, two entree courses, and dessert) and each dish was delicious. We decided to return a week later to see if it would be as good for just an ordinary night out. The restaurant was not too busy (it was a Tuesday) but each of the dishes we enjoyed was well prepared and very good. We ordered the Macadamia Crusted Salmon, a chicken special stuffed with goat cheese and spinach, and another chicken dish. The restaurant is attached to a wine shop, and if you don't want to sample wines by the ounce or order wine off the restaurant list, you can go into the shop and choose from literally hundreds of wines at all price points and then bring the bottle into the restaurant where they will serve the wine for a very minimal ($10) corkage fee. Done be put off by its location in an industrial park. This place is a gem! Inside it looks like a wine cave and they usually have some quiet live music at dinner time. This is definitely one of the better dinner spots in Ventura!

To be honest the only good part of our visit was Rachel. Rachel was polite, helpful, and delightful.This is my first time coming here since the change in ownership. I used to come here all the time and loved it.Zandra (?) took over and was incredibly rude and aggressive. The food we got was all bad, it used to be great. Pizza was bad. Miss the old risotto, this risotto was watery and bland. Crème brulee was cuddled and basically charcoaled.

This place is the best, there needs to be more like it! We went for dinner and wine on a Friday late afternoon. It wasn't too busy yet and we were seated at once. I love how it looks like a cave inside and you would never know from the outside of the building. We decided to do the wine tastings. They give you a card and you can try as many wines and sizes you'd like with it. You enter the card on the machine if the wine you want to try, pick an amount and press the button for the wine to pour in your glass. It's such a perfect way to sample lots of wines. For dinner we got the charcuterie board, Margarita pizza, truffle fries, and ahi tuna. Honestly, we shouldn't have ordered so much because we couldn't even eat half despite how amazing everything was. Next time if we do the wine tasting we'll probably just get two appetizers but if we go for dinner then we could do more food and just a glass or two of wine. Afterward, we went to the shop just outside the restaurant to find the wines we liked(we took pictures of the labels so we wouldn't forget). Such a fun place and a must if you're in to wines.

Our server, Tania, was knowledgeable and attentive. Chef Gary Daniel has to be one of the best and most creative chefs in Ventura County.
What a find! Such a great experience with all of the amazing wines and spectacular food. Tonyi was our server and so pleasant with great suggestions. We also needed a tutorial on the wine dispenser I would make the trip to Ventura just to eat here. Looks like a great place to throw a private party, tooor just shop their amazing selection of wines.

Food fantastic. Great wine selection. Service was also fantastic... live music on A Thursday was a lovely surprise. Our servers, Megan and Rachel were very attentive and just a pleasure. Many thanks ladies! Great date nite for the wife and I.

Fun night, last night ! We went to celebrate my dear friend's birthday. Rachel was such a great server. Super friendly and she would often come and check in. We were there from like 5 pm to past 9pm. Such a great place. They had live music. It does get a bit loud as it is a small space but it's ok. It's part of the experience. The place is made to look like a cave. People get wine cards to go to the machines around the spot and get their wine fill. We purchased a bottle as we just wanted to sit and enjoy our food. We shared a few things - meat pizza, pasta in a white sauce (added grilled chicken) and fries with buffalo sauce/ blue cheese. We got the birthday gal a pecan cheese cake. There's no comp for this as other places and we didn't expect it . Just letting others know. The food was great. As everything now, a bit pricey but worth it for a celebration. My girl deserves it and we wanted to treat her. I don't think it was terribly expensive but something I would only do on special occasions. The Cave was packed and it had a nice vibe yesterday. We all had a blast. I took a few pics but unfortunately, we had dug in already. We couldn't resist. If you want a different experience, romantic/cool place for a celebration- check out The Cave. The exterior looks like a plain building but once inside it's cool. I believe it's locally owned too as the owner was there greeting people. He was also helping to serve food. Nice to have supported as we were told the last two weeks had been empty. Support local y'all.
