Garys BBQ is a great neighborhood hangout. The management is always very friendly and the patio seating is amazing. Basketball and golf for the kids outside and always a good wine selection. One thing’s for sure: Gary knows his meat.

We were in Walnut Creek looking for a quick but good bite, and we found they Bounty Hunter. Ok, so it wasn't so quick, but it was worth the time we spent here. The food was very tasty, and the drinks were too.

First visit, weeknight, not crowded. Food very good to excellent. Beet trio appetizer superb. Not clear if the 3 dipping sauces were for beets or brisket but good either way. Fiancee had wagyu burger, excellent. I had the combo plate…brisket a tad dry, fried chicken very good, corn bread muffin & cole slaw great. Extensive wine list, top labels. We shared a flight and each had a glass of bubbly. Portion size good … I had leftovers for breakfast. Server Jeff casual but on the ball with advice. Menu somewhat limited, especially for vegans.

Nothing beats Gary’s meat

Great bbq. Really knows how to smoke them meats. Takes the extra time and care of the meats, and adopts the low and slow methodology with preparing the meats. Not like those Texas bbqers who churn out their bbq like a McDonald's. Must make requests in advance.

We have tried to walk in serval times and it was not happening.. we arrived early last night randomly out shopping.. got a little table and enjoyed the bbq plate that had ribs and pulled por K and chicken..all very good. Way too much food for 1..get that and share it. The beer can chicken at table next to us looked fun actually -not as messy as you would think and people were sharing using forks and having it in middle . We tried Brussels sprouts and shrimp cocktail . Cole slaw wasn’t amazing..just ok -mayo based. It’s a cool looking blue paneled interior , sultry hip bar and wine cellar area w some good bottles . Nicely done on atmosphere ..incl clean nicely tiled and styled restroom ...place was busy, service very attentive. Really good Defiantly will be back. Enjoyed it and took half of it home to our son who also enjoyed it .

Had lunch here with a group of friends recently, my first time at Bounty Hunter. Nice yet informal atmosphere. We ordered the olive appetizer for the group, and I had a pulled pork sandwich. The sandwich came with fries, which were very good, and couple of small pickles - also good and guessing they were made in-house. The sandwich itself was fine, and there were three types of BBQ sauce brought out to go on the sandwich. I tried two of them - neither had much kick and both were sweeter than I would have preferred. There’s an extensive wine list (a specialty of this place) with a fairly good selection of bottled beer though not many beers on tap. They did have a hazy IPA from Fieldwork on tap, and that was very nice. Service was fine, and the price was somewhat high but probably what you’d expect for downtown Walnut Creek. Overall a good meal if not a particularly memorable one.

The prime rib was a perfect 5. I have been to many steak houses and found this to be the best. Understand that I have very high expectations about service - I give it a 4.5. The desert menu was rather uninspiring.

Bounty Hunter is a new venue this year in Walnut Creek. We stopped in after shopping in Broadway Plaza and decided to get a bite to eat. they have done a beautiful job of changing this space that was formerly Tommy Bahama retail shop. It has very high ceilings, a beautiful bar area and a retail shop for wine. We sat at the bar and received excellent service. We also learned from the sign outside that they had a HH from 3pm to 6pm M-F. We thought that would be great and decided to return after our continued shopping trips the next day. We arrived mid afternoon and saw that the sign (see picture aattached) for HH was out and said that's great lets try that menu. It was Christmas Eve Day so of course the bar was bustling. We finally snagged two seats at the bar and we asked our bartender from the previous day if we could get the HH menu/drinks. He said, we aren't doing HH today but it is a secret and we can get you HH cocktails (why put the the sign outside that they were serving Happy Hour if they were not). It seemed like forever before they took our drink order - another bartender finally asked us if we wanted to order. We said 2 HH whites....he said the same thing, no HH today but we can give it to you but it is a secret. When our drinks finally arrived, I said to him "if you are not honoring Happy Hour today, may I suggest that you take in the sign outside that says you are serving Happy Hour today". (I attached a picture of that sign that they place in the middle of the sidewalk to entice customers) Nuff said about that - we ordered the following items over two days:- Caesar Salad - OK portion - lettuce was very pale but tasted good - $12- Market Salad - very good portion with fresh greens - topped with mild goat cheese $11- French Onion Soup - Excellent! - Artichoke starter - this was the WINNER of everything we ordered. They gave us 3 halves of an artichoke with this great dipping sauce a MUST ORDER $13- 1/2 rack ribs served with fries - Dry rubbed - very tender and smoky $17 I prefer wet ribs but these were delicious. They give you sauces to pour over your meat selections. When we arrived and sat at the bar, it seemed like they were understaffed and the servers.bartenders were very overwhelmed. Nonetheless, once we were able to order, our bartender did a good job of staying on top of our order. He did a good job of placing the orders so that our selections were well paced. This is a beautiful place and is very popular and well located. If you are shopping in the WC area, give it a try if you like BBQ.

First off: 1. Will make this as brief & concise as possible. 2. Dined here on 11/14/19 & had a lovely experience (Open Table review 11/14/19 under 143sfo in case you want to read). 3. Bottom line.......Very disappointed! Made reservation over a week ago for tonight 12/14/19 at 4pm for 3 of us. Requested a booth & said it was a special occasion (our anniversary) + our good friend joining us. Arrived 10 minutes early & lady guided us to the smallest 3 person table they had. I asked about my requests & then next thing we knew, a guy came over (he did not identify himself) but said he could not accommodate us not only at a booth but at no other table because, 'in one hour,, this place will be packed'! OK, I get that, but how does that concern us? We made our reservation & there were plenty of tables available & plenty of time between our dining experience & the next folks coming in. Needless to say, the poor attitude & total lack of understanding really was a huge turnoff!!! He became red-faced & defiant & so....you guessed it...we elected to leave. Walked 100 steps to the right & had a delightful meal at Va de Vi. This was unacceptable IMO. We specifically made our reservation at this desired time to avoid the crowds & so not to be offered a suitable table, especially when more than 1/2 the restaurant was empty at that time, makes no sense. Yes it is the holidays but why even bother stating special requests if one can't be told (at least upon arrival), that they could not honor it. Don't walk us back & try to stick us in an unsavory spot & assume we will agree. Very poor customer service, so good luck fellow diners & Happy Holidays. I know where I'll be spending my dining dollars from now on.

My husband and friends and I enjoyed lunch together at the Bounty Hunter. We were seated immediately because we had a reservation, which is recommended. We liked the homey, warm feeling. We were seated in a booth. Our server was efficient and friendly . We started with the grilled artichoke and theHouse Smoked Salmon. Both were yummy! I ordered the seared raw ahi Tuna Salad, which had kale, frisée, carrot, red bell peppers, jicama, avocado and miso dressing. The menu listed appetizers, salads and soups, sandwiches, and their signature items such as their Smokin’ St. Louis Cut Ribs: Full Rack or Half Rack. Our friends ordered the ribs which they said were mouth watering. The dish was enough for a doggie bag! My husband ordered the Grilled Flat Iron Steak, which he loved. We were all too full for dessert but finished our meal with coffee.

Great Sandwiches and salads, Have not tried main menu items as yet, If you enjoy good whiskeys, they have an excellent assortment. Would consider them to be above average in cost, but then what new restaurants in Walnut Creek aren't. Main eating area is noisy so if you want quite get one of the booths in the front.

It was so fun to hang out on the comfy lounges with friends for a drink before dinner. The service is excellent, friendly, and professional. Excellent wine list and the food menu is terrific. It’s rare these days to see prime rib on a menu for a reasonable price. The large portions of ribs and the prime rib were phenomenal and the vegetarian in our group found plenty of wonderful choices to satisfy. Get a reservation as the place is popular and packed.

Great addition to the Walnut Creek restaurant scene. Napa wine-based retailer and barbecue joint. Their specialty whole chicken cooked on top of a can of beer didn't disappoint. Spicy cajon-spiced skin and enough chicken to feed my wife and I and leftovers for dinner the next night. Pairing option with their Waypoint Pinot Noir (@ $40 retail) was a great deal and delicious. Extensive wine selection, family friendly, and the butterscotch pudding dessert was divine!
