Great sushi that is very affordable. A bit of a hole in the wall but a WC staple!

Food was average, but the service wasn't good. The waitress seemed to be annoyed and impatient with us. The bathroom was also disgusting, there was food splattered on the walls near the kitchen.

Small old sushi place with dead atmosphere. We stopped at Walnut creek to have a lunch. The place is old and bathroom is comparable to gas station bathroom. There was No music. Food is ok nothing special with dead atmosphere.

Kaiwa used to be our go-to place for sushi and other Japanese treats. But, coming back for our first post-pandemic visit on a Friday night, we were struck with how few tables were filled on a bustling Locust St evening. I felt bad for the place, with a trendy new Japanese restaurant newly present just a few doors away. Kaiwa needs to rethink its identify and mission. Looks and feels dated and not cared for. In the past, the sushi chef was busy preparing many orders; now, he appeared sporadically and had little to do. I want this restaurant to make it, but urge the owners to rethink their strategy to appeal to more diners. it was striking how every other restaurant on that and nearby streets was bustling that Friday evening.

One of the best "Japanese-theme" american restaurants I've been to. This is the place for delicate taste buds. Even their wasabi is like soft mayo. It transcends space and time. It transports you to a different place. It feels like you're right in the heart of Oklahoma eating sushi.

A great place when you want good sushi without the premium price tag. It's my go-to, we eat here weekly. It's not a very pretty restaurant, but the food is solid and I'm grateful to have Kaiwa in walnut creek.

Been coming here for so long, & every time satisfied. Great service. Great food. Great ambiance.

Came here with the hub on a Saturday night because he USED TO come here and was feeling nostalgic. First red flag: the place was not busy on a Saturday night (dinner time). We were the 3rd table full of people. But like bulls / people in denial, we embraced the red flag and charged forward. Second red flag: the actual restaurant. Everything about the place felt sticky, aged, and old. The bathroom was dirty. The menus were sticky. The tabletop was roughly wiped. Think Mr. Lucky's across the street but seafood restaurant. We should've left but we stuck around so you don't have to. Third red flag: the food. Edamame looked like the frozen ones you'd get at a grocery store and heated up in the microwave. The tempura tasted like it was fried in old oil. The California and Rainbow Rolls both looked grocery store, pick-up-and-go-ready vs. restaurant prepared. Green flag: the service. The staff was friendly but not enough to wipe out the red flags. The only perk of dining here: the foot traffic that is Locust Street. People watching at the finest, from girls / moms night out to couples date night to sugar babies... this spot has front row seats. If you just want to people watch and don't plan on eating, this is THE place.

This is just your average sushi restaurant. It isn't bad and it isn't great either. The service is a bit lacking and you'll have to be patient but you'll get what you ordered.

The sushi is fresh and delicious. And the special rolls list is excellent. And don't forget the tall Asahi's and Saki to wash it down.

Awesome food and great customer service! I had heard a lot of good things about this place and finally went to try it. I was not disappointed. The fish was fresh and the tempura batter was light and crispy!! So gooood! I'll be going back many times

new ownership? Poor service. Had to get roll we ordered to go because it took so long. Hope they figure it out.

My goto sushi joint, which has been a part of WC for over 2 decades, for always delicious, fresh sushi, without pricey decadent frills. It's a repeat family hot spot to long-standing patrons.

Excellent food and service. Their Seaweed Salad is one of my favorites. Sushi is also excellent.
