Good place to hang and watch sports but honestly the female bartender working right now (afternoon 4/1/24) is BEYOND rude. Never checks on you unless you're a male and is more interested in playing with the pocket knives they brought in rather getting you another beer. Super stuck up for no reason which is very comical.

Worst service ever Bartenders are rude This is a worst place I ever visited They don't care about you ,,, I got splashed with a drink from a bartender. And she didn't even apologize No go for this please Really is not worth your money

We were in the area late on Thursday night, so we decided to stop by Barney's Beanery at around 10:30pm. I've been to the location in Santa Monica many times, but I'd always wanted to check out the original historic location. You seat yourself at whatever table you can find, and it was pretty packed but we didn't have trouble finding a table. People were sitting and leaving tables constantly throughout the night so I don't imagine you would ever have to wait too long on a Thursday at least. The crowd is definitely on the younger side and I'm 36, but I felt like a senior citizen, older by everyone by at least 10 years lol. It's a packed, loud, rowdy type of place with music blasting...not really my thing anymore but it definitely reminded me of the places I would to go in my twenties. The food was just ok... and it seemed like we were the only ones that ordered anything more than an appetizer. We ordered the mozzarella sticks, nachos with chicken, and carne asada fajitas. The only thing I really liked were the mozzarella sticks, and if I ever do come back here at such a late hour, I would probably stick to items from the appetizers menu. Service was a little slow to get started, but once we started ordering food and drinks, the server would come by regularly to check up on us. The server was definitely overwhelmed with people constantly flagging her down, but she remained friendly and I never got any sass from her so job well done. They could definitely use some more help though. Like I said, not really my type of place anymore, but I can't say I didn't enjoy myself...especially once the drinks started flowing.

I absolutely love this place. The drinks are flowing and good quality. The pool table and old school arcade games also make this place great. I have not tried the food.

We dropped in for a few drinks before our dinner reservation. The ambiance was very loud and hectic but that seemed fitting. Definitely want to go back and try the food one day!

Just wanted to stop in for a quick drink before heading to the pier and I was greeted with a loud host who was blocking the only entrance, screaming about some awful story to one his mates. I sit and order their house beer and admire the warm atmosphere as I order on one of their many chewed up menus. Nothing delicious really popped out at me, so I decided to just stick with the beer. Didn't take long to finish it as it was tasteful and I really enjoyed it. Once it came around to paying the bill my server came up and wanted me to pay on her card machine, before I pay she touches the amount of her tip before I pay. Uhhhh....? Since when do servers pick their own tip? I almost wanted to say something, but I figured just never returning to the restaurant is better idea. Be careful and stay safe.

Long-time staple of LA (and West Hollywood, specifically). The place has been there since the 1920's.

Pretzel sticks, arcade games, trivia, and fun little paper menus? Ya, I'll be back.

I can see why this became the it-girl spot in LA. I consider myself an it-girl and loved the environment. Service a little trash but 5 stars because of the basketball shootaround game when I needed a break from my food.

This place is great! My friend lost her bag and Morgan was soooo beyond helpful in finding it for us. She was so understanding and friendly, and within the chaos of customers she found it. So great!
