I'm a food connoisseur I enjoy eating Delicious meals that are tasty, appetizing, scrumptious and yummy. Sorry to say that this place is not it.When asking the owner for a recommendation you expect something enjoyable.I had the worst recommendation fish with a shrimp sauce that smelled so strong and unappealing it made me gag.Never again it's overrated not worth it.I rather go to Taco Bell.

Extremely rude and poor service if you don't speak their language. Older lady and older man walk away if you stall ordering and help others then come back when they have time, making you wait. The restaurant is busy any time of the day. It's family restaurant where all ages are eating. Porridge of variety is good for all ages. Their wonton soon with egg noodles is pretty good also. They only deal cash so make sure to take plenty of cash to try all kinds of dishes with friends or family. If you can tolerate waiting then I recommend it. I would have given 5 stars but rudeness can't be accepted.

Sometimes I crave a bowl of chao and Canton hit the spot. I came here while I was sick with one other person. I wanted something not too heavy on the stomach and congee sounded good. Canton had over 10 different types of chao. Besides their wide variety of chao they even had noodles and rice dishes. Everything was very affordable and reasonably priced. The only bad thing is that they are CASH ONLY. However, they did tell us they will probably be able to start taking card soon. For lunch, I got their Chao Thit voi Hot Vit Bac Thao, which is salted pork with perserved egg rice porridge. The person I came with got com tam. I liked that my porridge came out in a cantonese bowl thing with some chinese donuts on the side. The congee was good but I wish it had more meat and egg in it. I also wished it had more flavor and I had to add more fish sauce in it. It was a tad bland. The person I came with liked the com tam but the meat was a little over cooked. Oh I also got a soda chanh that was really good. The service was good and the food came out fast. I loved how affordable it is here. The inside is very casual. It's great for small groups. Overall, it was a good experience and I would come back for chao.

So happy I found this place. Great mom and pop spot for congee. Their congee is what they're known for. You can't go wrong with whatever congee you get. Comes with cut up Chinese donut youtiao. I also got a bowl of wonton noodle would with bbq pork which was avg hence the 4 stars. My bad. The other excellent dish was the fried fish. Will definitely be visiting again the next time I am craving something warm on a cold day.

My go to place for chao ca and cha ca thang long (dill tumeric fish), wonton egg noodle soup is also amazing! I've been coming here since I was a kid, and the quality of the food has been consistent. Service is excellent as well, adding to the overall comfort I get whenever I visit! The new tables and serving bowls for the chao looks nice in pictures! Make your friends crave this place when you go ;)

Came here on a Friday night, it was busy. We waited about 10 mins though, so not too bad. Service was fast and nice. We ordered one seafood porridge and one fish porridge. They both really really delicious, I still lowkey prefer fish one cause this place fish porridge is the best I have ever had in OC. We also ordered sizzling fish, it was really really good, too. I like it to eat it with cilantro, lettuce, jalapeno and a half spoon of chili paste. The sides are fresh so as the fried donuts. This spot is my favorite, and with the pricing... it is very reasonable for 2024!!

Decided to try their special dish.. the Dill Fish on a sizzling plate.. reminiscent of our trip to Vietnam. Also ordered the house special porridge with a side of fried flour, enjoying it immensely and even ordering an extra one to take home for breakfast the following day.

Came to the restaurant with high expectations due to such high ratings on Yelp. There was a bad odor that was bothering me the whole time. Because of that we had concerns about the restaurant's food hygiene. We got 2 fish porridge and 1 wonton soup. The fish porridge was alright - I feel like it's overhyped on Yelp. I expected scallions but I don't think there was any (from my recollection the bowl looked white - white porridge and white fish and white pepper - no vegetables). Also my mom had a taste of it and warned me that she could taste a lot of msg in the porridge. I wasn't feeling well that day, so I decided to just eat the fish to be safe. My dad finished his porridge fine. My mom's wonton soup was definitely a disaster though. She had a bite and told me she wouldn't eat it because there's this bad smell in the wonton. I thought she was overreacting and tried one myself. I smelled the wonton and I agreed completely with my mom that there was some weird smell. I have no idea what it was. My mom said it's not the smell of spoiled food, probably just bad hygiene. So she tried eating another bite and said okay if I don't smell it then I can eat it. And she tried to eat some more. I felt really bad because it was my idea to come here. We drove 25min to get here. Definitely not coming back.

Great food and service. Very authentic Cantonese flavor. Relatively recent renovations.

Went for lunch. Waitress brought out hot tea which smelled very strong detergent. I asked her to replace the cups but she said not possible, every cup smells detergent. She talked in very low voice, in fear of her employer. We could not drink it, may be a health hazard. After lunch young Asian cashier guy said cash only. I told him I would not pay for the tea as we could not consume it. He got very upset, accusing me of cheating, called me all kinds of ugly names and threatened me. I still refused to pay for the tea. We got pretty close to a fist fight. Finally he dropped the charge for the tea. It's not a good way to operate a restaurant with a thug dealing with customers.

I have been coming to this restaurant for years because it never disappoints! They serve comfort food at its finest. The porridge with fried crullers is the best in town. Sizzling fish platter and beef chow fun are my other go-to dishes. Great service- food comes out fast. Decent prices for consistently delicious, good quality food.
