“The ordering here is not like a standard sit-down restaurant. You are handed a paper menu, sit down, then must return to the counter for ordering. On the menu the combinations were not listed clearly as to how many items you get. We had to ask the waitress. That being said, the service was excellent. The decor is a combo of Mexico/ Old Hollywood done in beautiful murals. The food was good. I got cheese enchiladas rojas and my husband got the same along with a hard taco ala carte. Would return. Prices are about average.“
“Authentic delicious Mexican tacos! Nice welcoming family. We stopped in after leaving the Joshua Tree National Park. The tacos are large, filled to the brim with carnitas (or whatever else you crave). Nice condiments bar with spicy sauces. We got the creamiest guacamole on the side. The place is small with a few tables and booths. It’s accessible, with a large clean bathroom behind the kitchen. Ample parking right outside the restaurant.“
“Everyone seemed to know one another here, and this can be intimidating for outsiders to walk into. BUT, we were welcomed warmly and made to feel at home. The food was delicious... Hit the spot after a day of hiking, but the service and vibe is what makes it. You find the best joints in strip malls if you're willing to give 'em a shot!“

“I'm from Minnesota and my husband and I visited the Joshua Tree area in Spring 2023. La Palapa was recommended by a local and we tried it. I had the Vuelve al la Vida (Return to Life Special). I think it is supposed to be a cocktail drink but I ate it like a soup. Omg. It was sooo good! So full of seafood and the flavor was fantastic. We went back to Minnesota and tried to find a similar dish. Things were close but nothing was as good. Fast forward to Spring 2024. I happened to be back in the area to visit my sister. I couldn't remember the name of the restaurant so went back through old credit card statements to figure it out. Found it!! Went back and ordered the same thing. It was delicious! Did a to go order so I could gave it one last time the next day before flying back to Minnesota. My sister had the same dish and loved it. In fact, she told me they went back on their last day in the area to have it one last time. I deliberately did this review so I can easily go back again if I'm in the area!! Yum!“
