This place is excellent! Highly recommended! Amazing sushi and sashimi! Best wagyu I've ever had. I usually don't like salmon, but I loved their salmon- so fresh and tasty! And the tuna...spectacular!! Get the spicy tuna citrus roll - you won't be disappointed!!!

Your trip to Steamboat won’t be complete without the immaculate vibes and food at Omakase.Chef John was absolutely excellent. He is the sole reason for this 5 star review. He was quick, very knowledgeable about the food being served, and had great energy throughout the night. We were lucky enough to try so many pieces of Nigiri during the delicious tasting menu. The ingredients were so fresh, with dynamic flavors and precise construction.

Based on service alone this place is not Japanese. “Short staffed” excuse doesn’t fly. Either provide top service or close the door. A Japanese owner wouldn’t allow half service.

The guy doesn’t care if you leave him a bad review. He’s a total jerk that will treat you like you’re a first grade student talking in his class. His food is very good, and that’s made him as arrogant as he could be. He moved to a small pond to be the big fish. He would never be able to run a successful restaurant in a city with any sort of legitimate sushi competition. He doesn’t think he relies on repeat business, but this sort of review inspired by his atrocious service mentality will sink his ship eventually. Good luck chef!Don’t penalize the people that work for him, he clearly doesn’t care for the people he employs or he’d understand how his rudeness and pomposity affects their lives.

Sensational! Best sushi I've EVER had. The atmosphere downstairs is intimate and incredible. I tried the sushi flight which was super fun! A wonderfully beautiful romantic night out.

If its painful it merits passing the word. For the third time, the proprietor was indignant, indifferent, vacant and unbelievably condescending. Our tasting dinner bill for 3 was $700. Really? At that price, a smile or any engagement at all would be appreciated, even if feigned. It was glaringly apparent that he would have preferred to be elsewhere. Should be. Time for a new career. Every member of our party felt it was such a damper that it ruined the experience. Food 100%. Service 0. Total fail. Worst in fifty years of dining. The rest of the staff could not have been nicer. I have no idea how they endure such a toxic overlord. This is hard to write, because we love dining, and farbeit from me for being judgmental. It was so far outside the norm as to be appalling. If you go, just be forwarned. Ouch. That was an expensive 12 bites, in more ways than one.

Some wonderful apps with seaweed salad the hamachi and yellowfin platters were really good but that gyoza dumplings were exceptional. The sushimi was amazing and the nigiri good as well the salmon dolls and spicy tuna were also great the cheesecakes lemon cake and peanut butter butter cake were all excellent

The guy doesn't care if you leave him a bad review. He's a total jerk that will treat you like you're a first grade student talking in his class. The $150 dollar experience is good food, but there's a reason he charges you up front. His sushi is decent and unlike anything in town, and that's made him as arrogant as he could be. He moved to a small pond to be the big fish. He would never be able to run a successful restaurant in a city with any sort of legitimate competition. He doesn't think he relies on repeat business, but this sort of review inspired by his atrocious service mentality will sink his ship eventually. Good luck chef! Don't penalize the people that work for him, he clearly doesn't care for the people he employs or he'd understand how his pomposity affects their lives. This owner is an embarrassment to his employees and the wonderful town of Steamboat Springs.

The fish was so fresh, I was surprise and so delighted! The tuna citrus roll was out of bounds -Guy Fieri. The waiter made great suggestions, one of them was the sake toro and it was like BUTTER!

Always such a great experience at Tahk. Everything from appetizers, sashimi, and every entrée I’ve had. Great date night spot in Steamboat. Highly recommended.

The team downstairs take care of us every time. Cody, Kaitlin, and Piya took great care of us at the bar. Uni excellent, along with the rest of the wonderful fish. We go once a week. Best sushi in town by a long shot.

Please do not support this chef. He demeans his wait staff and customers who have paid good money to have the omakase experience. It was extremely disappointing and depressing to witness.
