Best sushi in Colorado, hands down. Not tiny pieces of fish on large pieces of rice. Creative rolls, specials all the time. Hospitality that's great. Sadly though, more people are finding out how awesome this place is, which is wonderful, just means reservations may be needed, but ensures they keep doing what they're very very good at.Agedashi Tofu is phenomenal, comes with a healthy shaving of Bonito.Anything with the berry jalapeño is also a balanced but tasty roll or taco...Oh and fresh Sea Snail, was pretty flavorful. The O-toro is really high quality and it's O-toro. Not like chu-toro or Akami that some others try passing off of something is clearly not.

Was on the hunt for good sushi and came across Yonsei and their good reviews. We decided to give them a try to see if they might become our new go-to sushi spot. We were impressed. First thing I noticed was that the menu wasn't super extensive, but was hoping that was because the fish was all fresh. We ordered several rolls (red samarai, Ozeki, and shrimp tempura with cucumber added), miso soup, and the bacon fried rice. The rolls were very good and the fish all tasted fresh (not watery from being previously frozen). I personally liked the Red Samarai the best. The thin-sliced jalapeños on top added a nice crunch and contrast of flavor. The miso was very good too. I thought the bacon rice was good, but I don't think I'd order it again. The bacon was thick and smoky and there were a few rinds that were a bit too tough to eat. It's definitely a nice side to the meal though. The place is fairly small, but it was busy when we were there and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The staff was very friendly. The woman behind the counter expoing was ontop of her stuff. They were in the weeds, but she never seemed flustered and kept a good demeanor for the guests sitting right in front at the sushi bar. That impressed me. She also labeled everything so nice on the packaging which I really appreciate. It's nice not having to figure out which roll is which. The special rolls are slightly more $ than average, but I'll pay an extra $5 or so to get good quality fish. I like their add-on options, but if I had a recommendation - can you offer spicy mayo as a side? We'll definitely be back and it's a small business I highly recommend trying out.

Full 5 stars, totally recommend. Amiable service, quaint and cozy ambiance. The nigiri and sashimi are honestly where its at, and definitely the best quality fish compared to many sushi joints in the area. Must go.

What a find!!! We have been searching for a sushi place since moving here to Colorado... A little family owned restaurant. Walk in, JBoog playing... Ordered spicey garlic edemame, huli huli chicken salad and for sushi we got the Ronin and Geisha rolls... Broke da mout! Ice tea constantly refilled without having to ask... Ladies at the place made sure everything was OK multiple times. From the service to the food... on a 1 to 5 star review... I give it a 10. And it's only 1.8 miles from my house!!!! Yay!!!

Wow, very impressed with this place!! It's so close to our house too which is a huge plus. The bacon fried rice is perfection. We'll be grabbing to go orders of this in the future to have at home. We tried a bunch of sushi rolls, which were all good! We would probably not get the spider roll again, because it doesn't even compare to the spider roll we get at our usual sushi place. But the Black Samurai, Ninja, and Shogun were our favorites, and we'll absolutely be back for those again (as well as trying more I'm sure)! Ozeki looks like a good one to try next time. Service was perfect too, and food came out fast during our late lunch date. It's smaller inside, so I do wonder if they fill up fast for dinner.

Yonsei serves fresh fish and delicious Japanese dishes. I am so glad Yonsei opened up in the North Denver area. Before Yonsei, it was hard to find quality sushi here. Service is also great and the atmosphere is fun. My family is very picky when it comes to sushi and we are very happy to visit Yonsei.

Came to Denver for a work trip and had this spot in mind and so glad I got to go! It's a little small but very clean and tastefully decorated. Staff was super friendly, attentive, constantly filled my hot green tea, and orders were out quickly. I sat at the sushi bar and was given a fresh plate of wasabi and ginger. The menu was diverse and I liked ordering from the sheet. The rolls didn't have a ton of rice but were loaded with fish. The spicy mayo was actually spicy! The miso was the show stopper compared to any other sushi spot. Tons of miso flavor, plenty of tofu, and loaded with seaweed. The chef was really nice and happy when I said I made the effort to come try it out. If you're in the Denver/Thornton area, it's definitely worth checking out!
