FACED DISCRIMINATION!!!!! A group of us decided to go to South Bay at the suggestion of one of our party members. We were a group of seven and arrived in separate cars. I went in first with my wife and best friend, and we got there right before 10pm. My wife and I are black and my best friend is Hispanic. We (the men) were wearing baseball caps. The door man says to me as soon as I approach that I’d have to leave my hat in the car. I asked if I could just put it in my pocket. He says that’s fine but if it goes on, no warnings and I’d be asked to leave. No biggie a lot of establishments have dress codes, so I had no issue complying. I take my hat off, walk in, and literally see about fifteen white guys wearing baseball caps. The second half of our group walks in and one of my friends (who is white) walks in and is also wearing a baseball cap. I asked my friend if the door man told him he couldn’t were a hat. He was told that he could wear his hat until a certain time (10:30pm.) So, why was I not allowed to wear my baseball cap like everyone else? We left, (and I'm happy they didn't get our business) but not before respectfully confronting the door man about the discrepancy. His response “I was just doing what I was told” I call b.s. because of the number of white guys already inside as well as my white friend being able to wear their hats without an issue. My hat was a regular Chicago Bulls hat. Nothing obscene, and nothing gang related. It’s 2024 and treatment like that is unacceptable. I want to spread awareness because some people are just asinine. It's really disappointing. Would give zero stars if I could.

It started off a little slow, but when the food arrived it was really good.

Barely mediocre food and completely rushed service. 7:30 reservation Friday last week. Waiter came to take our order and I said we would order a round of small plates before we decided on entrees. "No, you have to place the whole order at one time, can't do that." Had to flag waiter down to eventually place order. Within three minutes, maybe less, the small plates arrived at our table. Nothing special. Tuna tartare had plenty of chips, not much tuna and I didn't see any guacamole. Shrimp and grits was a bit of a joke, unseasoned shrimp sticking out of lukewarm grits and no sauce. Grilled octopus wasn't too bad, but the crispy artichoke still had a lot of the choke attached. Halfway through our appetizers the food runner is standing next to our table with three entrees. I have no idea where he expected to put them down because we were still eating our appetizers. Girl comes over and starts clearing the plates that we were still eating from! We were trying to grab food off the plates as she was taking them. I thought we were on hidden camera. Before we finished our entrees, they cleared out all the tables from the restaurant except for ours. After we were done eating, waiter stopped by and asked how our dinner was. Don't they usually do that a minute or two after you get your food?? Felt very rushed, uncomfortable, cold and out of place as though they didn't want us there. Felt like we were bothering them. Won't return, sorry. Only have one chance to make a first impression, and this first impression was pretty terrible. Place is destined for failure.

Order came incorrect steak terrible . We fine out 3 times a week will never go back . Service issues were due to new software implementation but the steak no excuse . I ate 4 bites Hopi g it would get better the table next to us had the same experience

Friday 01/19/2024 approximately 1800 hours Group of 7. Restaurant was entirely empty. We ordered drinks that took just about 15 minutes to arrive at the table. Appetizers were anything but satisfying. The dinners were nothing special either and were just plain lame. However, the food took way quicker to get to the table than our drinks did... After we would finish eating, the staff would immediately get our plates...even though some people were still eating. Thats just plain rude. The PARMESAN fries...were basically heated up in a microwave and had kraft parmesan sprinkled on top... There is no stall in the mens bathroom...just urinals. So if you need #2 good-luck. The caesar salad was $11, but if you wanted to add steak...$22. Make it make sense. The final bill came out to over $450. All we ordered were some apps, two rounds of drinks, and maybe 3 meals. Way too over priced and unsatisfactory to be paying close to $500 for 7 people. This restaurant tries to portray itself as being high class and boujee. But it is not even close to that. Get better.

Very ghetto establishment.

The atmosphere at South Bay is inviting but there were hardly any people there on a Friday night. The service was pretty good- our waiter was attentive and charming but the food was just ok. I had pasta with clams and although the sauce was good, the clams were chewy. We got warm, yummy bread but overall it just wasn't that special. In a town with lots of amazing choices, South Bay needs to step up its game.

Called on a Friday night, Christmas weekend to see if they had space for my party of 4 and they said yes! This was a nice surprise as we were looking to eat at colony and did a 180 in our plans. Manager was great and attentive as was staff. The manager answered when i called and said she had space and to come by. When arrived she asked if i was the one who called and personally sat us at the table. When our glasses were empty, she also came over and personally refilled them. Luis, our server was also great! The food was amazing. I had the mushroom fettuccini and ate it so quickly. Others at the table ordered steak, rigatoni with blackened chicken and the fish tacos and also loved their meals. We had a birthday and they had a huge sparkler and sang with us. The hospitality was great. Only downside is the seats by the windows get cold especially later at night. They are taped but it needs more insulation to keep guests cozy.

Terrible food, service not great. It's a club scene trying to be a restaurant. Over age meat market.

First time there. Went prior to a show at FTC. And we were blown away. Ambience was great. Service was terrific. Food was amazing. It was a great date night for sure. Highly recommend and will be back again, for sure.

Food was fine but service was a disaster. They are short on staff and most of their staff is inexperienced. The first glass of wine they gave us must have come from a bottle opened long ago as it had a very vinegar taste. Server was missing for last 40 minutes of the meal so we could not order dessert or coffee. Will never go there again. This is it for me.

Took about 15 mins for a host to greet us at hostess stand; after two separate team members approached the stand without so much of a “give me one second”. Finally some one sat us and we proceeded to order drinks and tapas as well as entrees. The food came out and it was disappointing to say the least. We ordered the calamari and shrimp and grits tapas for apps. The shrimp had a horrific smell and the grits were underwhelming. The calamari came out room temperature which isn't ideal for fried food. For entrees we ordered the South Bay burger, the filet mignon special and arugula salad topped with the South Bay burger. The burgers were such a disappointment. They were quite small and almost looked to be a frozen patty. Definitely didn't come across as a house made burger one bit. My friend voiced her concern about the burger and was met with not much resolve. For the price, it def wasn't worth it. The filet mignon special that my friend ordered, she said was decent. Although it was more on the tough side, I looked over a few times and noticed her struggling to cut it. I made a comment and she said that it was def not as tender as expected. Overall we were quite frustrated with our experience; between the quality of food and customer service I don't think we will be returning customers.

The house was getting slammed, with the hostess a no show. They pulled it together and got us seated and served. The food was very good (scallops dish had a little too much salt), and the service was very strong, given the circumstances. A great neighborhood resto, warm atmosphere and a lot of heart. Recommend!
