“This place make you feel like you’re eating in front of Lungomare Mergellina in NAPLES, Italy. Absolutely fantastic pizza, pasta and everything you see on the menu. If you’re familiar with a real and authentic pizza this is the right place for you, won’t find a place like this in the whole state of CT. Food is fresh, pizza is not greasy like every other place you go and your stomach doesn’t feel heavy after eating here. You smell authentic as soon as you walk in. Great job and thank you for having a place like this in CT.“
“I've been meaning to check this place out as it's right down the street from our house. I didn't have high expectations but I was pleasantly surprised! We tried a few cocktails, a couple of the specials and 2 apps off their regular menu. Generous portions, fresh ingredients, layered flavors... honestly so impressed. And friendly service. We will be back!“
“Outstanding place for high quality Italian. The staff is really fantastic and makes every effort to ensure you have an experience that keeps you coming back time and time again. Great Martinis and there's a reason everyone says get the pasta!Parking: Valet unless you can find something on the street.“
“I live outside of DC and go to a number of Michelin star restaurants… I will flatly say I have had meals that equalled Union League but never one that exceeded it. Couple in their very reasonable pricing, gorgeous building, great staff and this place is extraordinary. I will be visiting my sister in Milford more often in the future :-)!“
“A True Taste of Italy in Milford CT!!As a proud Italian who recently relocated to Milford, CT, I was ecstatic to discover Strada. This hidden gem is the epitome of an authentic Italian restaurant, providing an immersive cultural experience like no other. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I knew I was in for something special. The atmosphere exudes Italian charm, with warm lighting and a welcoming ambiance. But it's the food that truly stole the show! Every bite at Strada is a culinary journey back to Italy. Whether it's the perfectly al dente pasta, the heavenly pizzas or the mouthwatering seafood dishes, the quality and authenticity are unmatched. What sets this place apart is not just the food, but also the exceptional staff. The personnel here is fantastic and professional, providing attentive and knowledgeable service with a genuine Italian hospitality that makes you feel like family. And of course, Giuseppe, the owner, is a true gem. His passion for Italian cuisine and culture shines through in every aspect of the restaurant, and his presence adds an extra layer of authenticity to the dining experience. If you're in search of a true taste of Italy in Milford, look no further than Strada Trattoria Italiana! Whether you're an Italian longing for a piece of home or simply a food lover seeking an unforgettable culinary adventure, this place will exceed your expectations. “We visited Skappo for my birthday yesterday and our initial walk in the door we were greeted by this lovely woman who cleared a table immediately so we were not waiting long. Then mom (we know from the great introduction) came over to say hello and commented on my necklace. The food was so good and it was like we were at Nonna's house!! We started with the antipasto and the stuffed figs.So glad we chose both because those stuffed figs alone were worth the trip back. For our entrees I got the bolognese and my husband got the ziti with a creamy sausage sauce, both were delicious!!! It is worth the trip and we know we will be making return visits!! Thank you for your warm welcome and delicious food!!Beth and DaveVegetarian options: Last night the lasagna was vegetarian“
“New Haven style Pizza is an institution. While there are lots of great spots, there are 3 spots that are consistently in the discussion: Frank Pepe’s, Sally’s Apizza and Modern.Having read several books about pizza over the years, in connection with my responsibilities as a pizza reviewer for the Wildwood Pizza Tour, I had heard the names of these pizzerias in the past. Pepe’s is the New Haven originator and, in a documentary I skimmed, the location that my hero Henry Winkler, the Fonz, recommended! Say no more!Trying to delay dinner as late as possible after crippling overindulgence and J. Timothy’s Tavern and B.T.’s Smokehouse earlier in the day, I walked into Pepe’s at 9:15 on a Tuesday night. I ordered the classic pizza with mozzarella. On a cold, rainy New Haven night, a hot pizza from the Pepe’s coal fired oven really hit the spot.Frank Pepe’s original skills came from being a baker, so the dough is one of the highlights. In the coal fired oven, it gets a bit of a chewyness and char. If I’m being honest, I didn’t find this pizza particularly unique compared to other coal fired pizzas I’ve had over the years, but the ingredients are very good and it is done well. I imagine this place is very consistent in its preparation. As much as I love delivery, this feels like a pizza you have to eat in the restaurant right out of the oven for best results.I should also note that the Foxon Park Diet Cola, served in Pepe’s for decades, was surprisingly excellent — a highly unlikely possibility in my experience sampling colas made by companies I don’t recognize.I questioned if I could possibly eat all three of New Haven’s most famous pizzerias in one night and that was not even remotely a possibility by the end of this day…but I can’t wait to get back and try the others some time in the future.“
“We had a wonderful time on Thanksgiving. Something went very wrong with our original restaurant reservation. Shell & Bones were able to accommodate a table of six last minute. Great service fabulous food all with a view. Highly recommend.“
“Found this place by mistake. We go to all the wineries in the area. Never knew it existed. Fabulous experience right from the start. Wines are delicious and the owners and staff are phenomenal. The first Wednesday of every month they host open mic night. So much fun. Great atmosphere. If you haven't tried it yet, it's worth the trip. Bring a few friends and have a great time. We always do.“
“Really unique and "true to the theme" prohibition style cocktail bar. Service is phenomenal, super friendly, and very attentive. The craft cocktail menu is unique and expansive. Pricing is pretty much on par for upscale drinks. Again, this place offers unique drinks that use ingredients not commonly found in other bars. Can't comment on food as we didn't get any. Did end up sharing a birthday dessert cake which was decent. Atmosphere is fitting, but it does get pretty loud and crowded. This place is a nice gem in the heart of Branford's Main St.“
“So I went on a recommendation here not realizing that the main part of it was closed. I'm just figuring that out now. However, I walked in tonight after finding parking and taking 20 minutes to get to the location and once in the door, I was directed down to a beautiful lounge and bar area with the Dreamius music playing, and it was such an esoteric feeling to my experience there. However, that was stopped short when I sat down and reviewed the menu, four times, and then waited, then waited some more, I'm by myself, so I continue to wait. Then Inn walks three different sets of people, and the next thing I know the one bartender is making drinks for all of the different people who have showed up, but there's nobody servicing the actual lounge and people that are waiting for food and drinks. I promptly stood up, took my bag and walked out. I was really looking forward to trying their delicious vegetarian options and a martini for starters so I can't really say much about the food or the drink, but I can say I felt extremely neglected walking in the door as a first timer. I just want to state that I have edited my review and given them five stars, I heard from their manager, Megan and I truly appreciate the follow up and sweet invite to come back and try fire house 12. I'm here for another few days. I'm gonna give it a whirl again tonight it was actually a beautiful place so maybe I just came in at a really crazy time- thanks again!“
“We had a fantastic night at Pearl Wine Bar! We have never been before and sat on their beautiful back patio -- top notch construction, with a full bar w large granite counter, several covered tables, high tops and low comfortable chairs, and heaters (although we sure didn't need them tonight!). We had drinks, bread with honey butter (yum), and shared the shrimp tacos (perfect seasoning) and the honey chicken (the fries were delicious). Our server Alicia was outstanding, and the bus person was great too. A great new location for us in Branford -- we'll be back.“
“This is one of the top three bars in New Haven. The owner takes pride in sourcing the most interesting and delicious wines. The ambience is mystical, intimate and charming, all at the same time and the music selection is always on point. Additionally, take a look at their menu as they have tons of tasty offerings on small plates. This is a must try!“
“Wait time in a line outside was 30 min-40 min to get a table on Saturday night. Service was fantastic and food was fantastic. I didn't care for the anchovies but that's my preference. I was convinced to get the tomato pie without the mozzarella and it ended up being my favorite.“
“Came here with a party of 7. We had a wonder waitress named Maria. She was very accommodating. We had a prefixed lunch what included our choice of an appetizer, salad, and entree. Just absolutely delicious food. Homemade bread. I had the chicken limonte, mashed potatoes, spinach, bread, salad, and appetizer was fried calamari. I can’t wait to come back again. Definitely a 5 star restaurant.Dietary restrictions: For gluten free pasta I believe it was an extra $4.00.“
