This was my first time having Costa Rican food, and I was thoroughly impressed! As soon as we walked in, service was friendly and welcoming. I went to wash my hands, and the restroom was immaculate. In terms of the food, everything was fresh and flavorful. I got the Chiflijos, which is fried crispy pork belly with rice, beans, avocado, pico de gallo, and tortilla chips. My girlfriend got the Casado which was stewed chicken with rice, beans, sweet plantains, beet/potato salad, and a fried egg on top. The serving sizes were generous and great for the price. When it came to dessert, we couldn't decide between the pistachio cake and the cassava cake. We ultimately decided on the Cassava Cake, but our server also gave us a small piece of the pistachio cake to try. So kind of her. The pistachio cake was sweet, with a tender crumb, but not cloyingly sweet. The cassava cake was the real star! Served warm, with notes of earthy cassava, coconut, and a caramelized top, it was the perfect way to end our meal. We wish them much success, and would love to return to try more things on the menu.

Just tried Pura Vida for the first time and was blown away at how good everything was! Very friendly and welcoming people who treated us like family from the second we walked in. Our meals were full of flavors that were unlike other Latin cuisine and the portions were extremely generous. We can't wait to come back again and both try new things as well as enjoy newfound favorites. A true hidden gem right here in Naugatuck!

Highly recommend this place! I've had a lot of Latin food, but this was my first time at a Costa Rican place. I've never had Costa Rican food before. Kristel, one of the owners, was so awesome and welcoming! She and her parents own the place. All the food is homecooked comfort food. The restaurant is so clean and smells clean. Kristel recommended the Casado plate since it was first time. It had a lot included in it - a delicious runny fried egg, plantain, beans, rice, a delicious beet salad, and some chicken and vegetable stew. There was also some homemade pickle, which was excellent! I enjoyed my meal! Kristel's dad was in the back making everything fresh! For dessert, I had yucca cake, something I never heard of! They also serve awesome breakfast! I highly recommend this place. Service is excellent. You can park in front on the street for free.

Small location with some 3-4 tables or so but welcoming. This was our first time having Costa Rican food, so we were quite interested. We ordered the chiflijos and the gallo pinto with added meat. Usually, when there's Latin American plates that have many components, some parts may be bland or lesser than, but I'm happy to report that absolutely everything was delicious. You could just have had the rice and beans by themselves and be all set. Can't say there was anything too different from other Latin fare, except that there was a very good cook in this Costa Rican kitchen, so I recommend you drop by and get some tasty stuff.

Delicious, real, clean food and great staff. Went there because it’s minutes from my house & always drive by. Met a friend & she loved their coffee. I had Gallos, with meat and potato and it was so nourishing. Definitely making this my new local spot.
