I've passed this restaurant a thousand times, and finally took my daughters to Cherry Street East. We had a great meal - the staff was friendly and attentive, and the prices reasonable. We will definitely return.

I used to go here quite often many moons ago, but for some reason haven't been there in quite a while. But was meeting an old friend who lives in New Caanan, and we chose this place. I opted for the Fish-n-Chips which was pretty tasty, but somewhat oily. But I ate every bit of it. The atmosphere is very "dive" bar ish, which is a bit of a charm in itself. We were able to eat our food and enjoy a couple of beers with some good conversation without them trying to turn over the table. After all these years CSE still has tasty food, and I'm sure I'll be back.

I have have been coming here lately for the last 6 months taking my father here for lunch. Cherry Street has been a locals favorite for many years. The food has been consistently great and as advertised. The service is excellent and always makes you feel welcome and like a local. If you are looking for an excellent bar and grill this is the place.

This place was very very good. A classic small off the beaten path establishment with a terrific atmosphere and clientele and good food. Yea...it was a little pricey but it is Connecticut and a terrific last chance station for a good seafood dinner before leaving New England.

Horrible, poor quality food. Mac and cheese looked and tasted like it came out of a Kraft box. My chicken sandwich was gross and the salmon was raw, despite asking for well-done. Very poor quality ingredients at premium prices. I’m really unsure how this places has stayed in business since the 70’s in New Canaan of all places.Fine as a bar, not as a restaurant. Staff is nice, but really not a place to go for quality food or hospitality. Dive bar equivalent to a diner but dark, and to be honest most diners have much better quality food.

Great local place with a varied menu. It's small and I don't think they take reservations so go early. They also do take out. Worth checking out

I write a lot about Cherry Street. I've been going there for more than 30 years; it's the place to go in New Canaan for burgers, fries and some fresh vegetables, if that's your thing (it's mine and my girls'). The atmosphere is great pub; one can sit at the bar or in a seat in the back and catch a game on TV, or sit in the front and just enjoy the pub atmosphere. Service is always crisp, and it's one of the places where my girls and I can still get a burger cooked rare. I'm not much on fries, but my girls love them - either regular or sweet potato fries. I always get broccoli instead, and it's cooked perfectly - not over cooked and soft. Last Saturday we ordered the steak with baked potato and broccoli. All were cooked as we ordered and very good. Mind you, the steak is hardly prime, but for the price, it was great and cooked our way. Cherry Street doesn't mind substitutions, so if you want to substitute broccoli for the mixed veggies, like I did, no problem. Cabernet by the glass was also good for the price, and the girls loved their Shirley Temples.

Ok food and Staff. Place is a old school. Not for the customer looking for quality chow. Prices are fair for the quality. Been there a few times. Bad things: Utensils always seem a dirty. I give a $50 to pay a $30 tab bartender ask " do you want change?" Wings are below grade for a local pub quality, undercooked even when asked for crispy.

Cherry Street East was recommended to us by a local shop owner. It did not disappoint. Delicious burger. Delicious tuna melt on an oversized English muffin that was fantastic. Plenty of food and great service. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

Classic.. just classic! Prices could be a bit lower, particularly on the decent beers but the food and atmosphere is fantastic.
