The portions for dinner were very small considering what they are charging.

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious breakfast overlooking the beautiful green and Yale university from the hotels 19th floor restaurant. Christine was our sweet and efficient server, she even looked up exactly who John Davenport was and when as cofounder of New Haven. We’ll be back!Parking: The restaurant stamped your parking ticket making it free!

I had brunch here a few times and I had good experience. But the waitress I met today ruined my weekend morning. She spilt water, didn't wipe it off, didn't introduce herself in the beginning, didn't take the menus after we finished ordering food, spilt cream and didn't apologize. It was as if she was giving me an attitude. The manager was great she offered to comp our meal but we enjoyed the food so we just let her comp our drinks only.

Book for Valentine's Day & couldn't be more impressed. Lamb was amazing - steak for gal was great. Service was quick and efficient. Couldn't ask for a better place to spend Valentine's Day in New Haven

So very close but sadly no cigar. The views are stunning and the food was for the most part good. The service was pleasant enough but not entirely competent. Maybe with a little training???? This was an expensive meal as we expected but the experience was not inline with the premium price. To start with the brightness of the room took away from what could have been a stately ambiance. Dimmer lighting and a candle on the table would have made a difference. The menus were stained and inaccurate -- "ignore this wine list, The real one is on this sheet". I expect this in a pub but not here. We ordered appetizers and deserts to share -- but were given no small plates. When we asked for plates, the response was courteous but they never arrived. We ended up "borrowing" them from the table next to ours. We ordered the blueberry crisp for dessert -- and there was only a hint of a crisp. It was more of a warm (canned) pie filling and disappointing. I had hoped we'd return to John Davenport's when we visit New Haven - I am not so sure.

We decided on John Davenport's for Christmas Day dinner, because it was only about an hour away from home, was on the 19th floor of the Omni and we liked the menu selections we saw online. We are really glad we did. Now, the view was fantastic, even though it was dark, however, once the fog rolled in it was like having dinner in the clouds. We are planning to go back at some point during the day. They have a very large wine selection of small glasses, large glasses or bottles. A craft cocktail selection and a number of beers on tap and cans / bottes. All of the food we had was excellent. Lobster bisque, Deviled Eggs, Smoked Tenderloin Tips and the Goat Cheese Salad. Then NY Strip, Short Rib and the La Belle Farms Crispy Duck. The desserts were also very good. "The Dome" which was a hard-shell chocolate, well, dome, with chocolate raspberry ganache, the Espresso Creme Brulee, something I do not usually eat but thoroughly enjoyed, and of course nothing beats the Warm Skillet Cookie. Our server and all of the staff were very attentive and checked in on us for drink refills, water refills and to make sure we did not need anything the perfect number of times. Overall, we really enjoyed our dining experience.

I'm so happy this restaurant is back on business. We were able to reserve a table for Thanksgiving buffet. Besides the beautiful views the food is delicious. The buffet didn't disappoint us even when we were at the last seating. Such ample variety, not only traditional Thanksgiving dishes but also duck, smoked salmon, delicious smoked scallops, a carving station, and crepe station as well. Would recommend this place for a romantic dinner or Sunday brunch. Love it!

I think there is much to be desired at this establishment. The scallops I had were not overcooked, but there were some hard bits on top of them that I thought was either bacon or pancetta, tried chewing them but they were hard as rock. The green sauce underneath didn't add much to the dimensions of the dish. The scallops were quite salty as well. The smoked tri tip was lukewarm when served. You would've expected more since it came in that mini cast iron Plate. The black pepper sauce was unremarkable. And the shishito pepper barely cooked. Didn't have the room to try their mains, so can't comment. Service was relatively attentive. The environment was upscale but also a bit dated.

The Thanksgiving brunch was beautiful. It was aesthetically pleasing and the food was very good. Some items were not as warm as they should have been but everything tasted fresh. Staff was very accommodating and service was friendly .

A solid time and a good upscale rooftop bar to go to in the area.

Dinner was awesome bu breakfast on Saturday did not go well. I was told I had to wait for a table which I did. After 20 minutes I asked how much longer it would be and right in front of me were two empty tables for 2 which was exactly what I was waiting for. Then she asked me my name! Really! It was obvious she forgot Al about me. The food was greasy. Very disappointed. Friday night dinner was so good! I really expected more for breakfast!

Dined here while staying on a charity gift certificate that included dinner for two. Food was of excellent quality but service was painfully slow paced. Took over 45 minutes for first drinks and an appetizer to arrive.
