Great food, great variety, awesome prices! Really good value at around $4-$7 for most sandwiches, burgers, etc. Beautiful view of the river as you eat, great music playing, and food is done quickly. Highly recommend!

Parker and his crew have elevated College Pizza AKA Fred's Shanty!Takeout orders are always correct. My wife says that their gluten-free pizza is the best she has ever had.

Solid pizza. Nothing fancy, but exactly what we needed.

I have ordered pizza from here several years ago, and it was always good pizza, but sometimes how I wanted it prepared got lost when it was being made

Saturday afternoon lunch, dining in. Whole clam bellies, more strips than plump bellies, ok. Coconut shrimp, good size butterflied shrimp, a little too much breading. Clam chowder, thin, more potatoes than clams, bacon flavor over powered all other tastes.

Top 3 pizza places in CT, they have incredible pizza, New London is lucky to have this.

I have been ordering from this place all summer. It is like eating from my own kitchen. All of the ingredients are of high quality and perfectly prepared. The people are fantastic and prices are well worth it. I will miss this place when I leave for the Winter! Also, I challenge you to find a better burger and fries! I literally feel bad for the people I see standing in line at Freds.

It’s a hit or miss. Which is so said. The owner is an awesome chef and guy. I’m hoping soon everything will get back Colman St. 5⭐️level.

This is good pizza! I wish I lived closer. Take-in pizza isn't usually what I'm craving when I think of a good dinner, but these pies had flavorful crusts, just the right thickness to support hearty toppings without being too bread-ey, great toppings in good ratios and prepped so that the textures of the toppings were just right - nothing waterlogged, nothing greasy. White pizza with spinach and ricotta - my new fav!!

I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the reviews. The hot dog, onion rings, fries were all good. We ordered ice cream and it was handed to us melted. I see what others have said regarding the service.

I’ve been going to Freds Shanty for years. Some of my happiest summer memories took place at Fred’s shanty, what’s more, as a local reporter, I wrote about its delicious food. A new owner took over in 2022 and has virtually ruined the menu, has hired brain dead staff and raised prices to offensively high levels. Five bucks for a handful of fried onion rings? $13 for a handful of scallops on a roll? Five dollars for a large scoop of ice cream? The beautiful scallops and fish that used to glisten are now dry. The french fries are now old stiff and rubbery sticks and tiny broken pieces. Even my dog wouldn’t eat them. Their version of a sandwich is a hamburger or a piece of grilled chicken slapped between two sides of a bun. End of story.God forbid there should be a few extras. But no, you have to pay $1.50 for a minuscule plastic cup of coleslaw or potato salad, equal to about 2 tablespoons. The person who is supposed to be making milkshakes has a psychological problem resulting not in milkshakes but a clod of ice cream surrounded by a little melted ice cream. The adolescent staff taking your order and handing it to you don’t seem to have any idea where they are. Absolutely no work ethic. They look this way and that way and never at the customer. Lousy, lousy service, Unacceptable food. The new owner has taken a beloved New London landmark and made mush of it.
