Lovely venue in Ridgefield, Ct. Quiet and reserved ambiance, lighting just perfect.Ordered all appetizers and was very pleased with the variation.Overall a favorable dinner.

Although I love the atmosphere of this restaurant with piano player and friendly wait staff, I was very disappointed. We went last night for my husbands birthday. He ordered oysters, grilled octopus and the duck duo. He thought it was good. I ordered the clam chowder, it needed salt which I asked for and never received. Soft shell crab, the plate consisted of two very very small crabs fried to a crisp sitting on some root vegetables that were soaking in oil small potatoes that were hard as a rock. The deserts were very good, but for $268.00 We expected better. They do make good chocolate martinis.

Returned last night after a prolonged absence. The restaurant remains wonderful. We were two couples and each meal was outstanding. We were given a corner table which allowed us to talk freely. Service was excellent (thank you Amanda) as was the overall ambience. Truly fine dining. Highly recommended.

We ate in the beautifully appointed garden, with lights strung overhead. We shared the mushroom risotto, which had an intense flavor, the squash blossoms, & the perfectly prepared soft shell crabs. And the bread is flavorful, fresh & warm. Service was excellent.

The food here is well prepared and the ingredients are fresh, but the menu doesn't change much, so after a couple of visits it loses some luster. Although the service was fine during our first couple of visit, it was disappointing during a recent visit-- it felt both pushy and inattentive. There was no warm greeting and no explanation of the menu. When they offered us bread, they were out of the kind we wanted. They promised to come back when more was baked, but never did. They didn't check up on us after bringing food. When we asked for pepper they brought us a pepper shaker, but tables around us were offered fresh ground pepper. No offer off drink refills between appetizers and entrees. We had to track down the waitress. And worst of all, they took away out deserts while we were still eating them! In short it felt like the service I would get at a diner, not a fine dining establishment.

Looking for a new French restaurant because our favorite French restaurant La Panatiere in Rye unfortunately went out of business.Upon arrival, we were promptly seated by the hostess. The restaurant is nicely decorated and at 5:30pm on a Saturday night, it is not quite busy yet. Warm bread was served and the cranberry one was good. We were given one piece and when we asked for another piece it never arrived. We even asked couple of times but we didn't get it anyway it's okay because we only reward excellent service. Now onto the food, French onion soup was good but lacking in cheese, grilled octopus was excellent, Soft shell crab was amazing as well as the short ribs. I love soufflé but they don't have it iso I didn't order any for dessert.Definitely we will come back if we are in the area.

One of my favorite French restaurants in Connecticut. It's definitely fancier than most restaurants I go to so make sure to dress up. The prices I felt were reasonable for a nice date night. The service is always great. The wait staff are always attentive. The lemon tart for dessert is really sour! Just a little heads up, I enjoyed it a lot but the tartness caught me by surprise. The duck dishes here are always amazing. It's definitely a drive for us but totally worth it.

We enjoyed our dinner at Bernard's. Had a drink upstairs at the bar first at Sarah's. The food was excellent and the place was relaxing and upscale. Loved the piano player! Would definitely come back.

Don't miss the charm, service, and impeccable and authentic French cuisine at Bernard's - a true escape to a simpler time of kindness and excellence - we celebrated my wife's birthday here in style.

We have hosted two family events at Bernard's - a wedding and a family birthday celebration. Both have been incredible. Hannah was excellent in working with us to plan the events. The food and service were beyond our expectations. The entire staff went out of their way to make each of our events truly special. Everyone who attended we very impressed with the food and staff. Great memories for all.

Brought some family that was in town visiting here - we had a party of 8 so it was great that they were able to accommodate us. The environment the restaurant is in is beautiful and very well decorated, the only downside is that it got a bit noisy, don't know if this is typical. We saw many birthday brunches happening which is understandable. Food-wise, it is pretty standard French food and everything was exactly as I expected. Food was good but not completely mindblowing. Overall: 4/5 -- would recommend

I just love this restaurant absolutely fabulous. First of all atmosphere was wonderful there was a gentleman playing Acoustic guitar with medleys of assorted music which was just wonderful to hear and have your meal with. The service was wonderful everybody was so polite and accommodating especially to people who have special diet needs such as gluten free etc. absolutely amazing. Everyone at the table stated The food was delicious fresh and the portions were perfect not too big not too small. Also everybody enjoy their cocktails unfortunately the foor photos below only represent a small portion of my parties meals. Therefore I will basically review my meal I had a trout which was accompanied with rice and spinach oh my goodness it was so amazing. The trout was juicy with a lovely crisp to it. There were almonds on top of the fish which was a perfect match absolutely delicious. The spinach was season well extremely fresh along with some wild rice which is made with perfection of added seasoning. The oysters were delish so yummy melting in your mouth everybody at the table said bravo for these beautiful babies. My cappuccino was fantastic, nice and bold coffee.... as you all know I dig my coffee and I just Loved the glass it was served in so sweet and cute. Please go to this place it's absolutely incredible.

Working here in Ridgefield, I was told to not miss Bernard's. The food was definitely tasty, and I'd return just for that. However, the hostess and our server were just awful. The server upstairs clearly didn't want to be there and had an indifferent attitude the entire time. The hostess was rude, condescending, and terse. I really can't remember a time that I was treated worse in a restaurant.
