“We absolutely love this local restaurant. If you are in or around Newtown/Sandy Hook, be sure and check it out. The pork chop was absolutely delicious, and my wife really enjoyed the scallops. My daughter had the salmon with a curry, and it was wonderful. We tried the truffle deviled eggs, wow!!! Outstanding service and beautiful upscale New England feel with being stuffy inside the restaurant“

“Did you know of this hidden gem is located inside of Uncle Matt's Bakery & Cafe? Let me tell you, this is a must! Kash & Liv coffee sets the bar high with their values; they make people feel a part of their family and are welcomed every visit. Plus they are dedicated to their community & give back through charity events each year. Their coffees flavors are made from scratch all using local ingredients (like Maple Craft). You can't not stop in without grabbing some of their amazing bake goods daily in the café. Truly a spot that many people don't know about and is 100% worth trying. Key Features: Side parking lot, outdoor patio is lovely on a nice day! Indoor seating smaller tables to work at or meet people. A variety of pastry/bread options to pick from. Their iced beverages are a good size for the value. Every Sunday there is always a fun pairing (coffee and cube/croissant) to look forward to. Service is always fast when visiting.“

“This brewery is such a gem in Connecticut! It’s been voted by the CT Brewer’s Guild for best food at a brewery and oh my gosh I can see why! Here’s what to get:+ the buttermilk chicken melt+ the pretzel+ kimchi arranci+ buffalo dip eggrollsThere’s actually some super cool history about this place! Way back in the day it used to be train station for hauling lumber. The train still passes but never stops. Prior to be being a brewery it was an abandoned bike shop. The brewmaster and owner has an extensive background in aerospace engineering. If you order a flight, I definitely recommend:+ pale blue dot+ axion+ nimbus+ courageThey had a nice selection ranging from IPA’s to stouts!12/10 recommend visiting this tasty trackside brewery!“

“This brewery is the best secret of CT. I selfishly want it to stay a secret because it’s so damn good but the world needs to know about Reverie. I never knew what a Kolsch was before I came here but after trying “You’re on Mute” I can’t live without it. Oh and Tricera-Hops… “

“Real nice vibe and friendly staff. Just popped in to meet some family for a real quick drink as we were passing through town and happy we did. Inside looks comfortable but enjoyed the nice lighting and outdoor seating. Super cool and relaxing joint hidden in the back of a commercial area. Almost thought we were in the wrong place, but found it nestled in the back and a long a cute wooded area.“

Newsylum Brewing Co. Brewery • $$
Keating Farms Ave, Newtown - 1.35 miles

“NewSylum is a brewery built in the old Newtown asylum (the employee dining hall, if I remember correctly). They usually don't have six IPAs on draft like most places, shuffling between a healthy mix of styles. Beers range from good to great; I've never had a bad one. The pizza is where this place really stands out. It's fired in a brick oven and the result is a New Haven inspired personal pizza that's a little closer to New York style (CT beer fans: think Brewport's but smaller). You can tell it's popular because they have a huge stack of to-go boxes. There's a lot of other stuff on the menu I haven't bothered trying because this is so good. Parking is a bit of a pain, especially if you want to fight for one of the two car chargers on the other side of the Fairfield Hills campus. But the chargers are free (for two hours), so if you can get one, lucky you! Also, it can get crowded and loud sometimes, especially when the music starts. Most breweries are like that. It's better in the summer when their outdoor space is fully operational. Plan your visit accordingly. But do visit the old asylum. You'd be insane not to.“
