Had a delicious birthday meal at Matto's this evening. Usually hesitant to order Italian food, but heard it was good so gave it a try. The meatballs and sauce wasoutstanding. Everyone was very pleased with their dinner. Definitely the real deal and the service and ambiance was very good, too! Can't wait to return.

Food was great and the service was great. I wish I got the name of our server, she was very friendly to talk to. Another guy came up to our table (couldn't tell if he was the owner or chef) but I complimented him on the frose because it was one of the best I ever had and it's not bad for $8.

My heritage is Italian and for the majority of my life I lived in a Italian community in NY. When I moved ti Shelton Connecticut, I found myself in search of a good Italian Restaurant! My search ended when I found Matto’s Wine bar in Shelton. My waitress immediately tended to our every need. Her name was Chelsea and she took the time to explain to us how the items we were interested in were prepared. She gave us great recommendations and never rushed us to order. I love margaritas so my drink order was easy. My wife on the other hand likes sweet and unusual drinks. Chelsea recommended a drink with Italian ice in it and my wife was in Heaven! I can assure you that the food is delicious and definitely authentic Italian. The meatballs were phenomenal as was my veal cutlet and my wife’s pasta. Though they were extremely busy the manager, Mr. Ricky Rosario was out on the floor helping serve customers. If I even looked his wsy he came to our table to see if we needed anything. I honestly felt like royalty as they couldn’t do enough for us. I would definitely recommend this establishment as the good and service were outstanding. Ask for Chelsea as your waitress though they are all equally good.

This was an excellent Girls Night Out location that would be excellent for any upscale dining experience! The restaurant is classy but not pretentious. The unique decor, extensive wine list, and helpful staff are what make this place stand out! Dining either indoors or outdoors here provide an excellent, charming experience, but above all, the food is EXCELLENT! We decided to get a few tapas to share, which is definitely the way to go if you want to try a lot of delicious in a short amount of time! 10/10

Food was good. I'd say loud, so tough to talk with group of more than 4. Late seating us for reservation, but manager and wait staff conscientious about the earlier delay and tried to make it up to us. We'd definitely return.
I just want to say that I never had a waitress who was so helpful, kind, and very sensitive to all of our needs. She worked very hard as well. Really just all around the best waitress I have ever seen. This waitress name was Aaron. She is very deserving of high honors.. The service being excellent and the food was also exceptional. I had my family of 12 there and every one in that party also agreed that the service and the food was amazing. Hats off to Matto. You will see me again. Thank you Aaron!!Paul Forcucci

Nicely appointed restaurant and bar in a fun atmosphere. There is a black & white movie projected on one wall of the restaurant, with sports on TVs around the bar. The service is prompt, full beverage service and a nice menu. The food was delicious, especially the chicken francese which was lightly breaded tender chicken in a just-right sauce.

Hands down one of the best and most consistent Italian restaurants in the area. The Cavatelli a La Vodka with short rib is my favorite, not on the menu but they’ll always special make it. Recently decided to try the veal and that too was amazing. The drinks are always good and the lava cake is phenomenal. Never a bad meal.

Food, Drinks,atmosphere and service were all great Jessica our waitress was awesome!! Please add the Chicken Panzanella back to the menu it’s flavorful and filling while still light and delicious we also had the meatball and fried mozzarella appetizers and hubby had lobster ravioli all amazing I loved that the ravioli wasn’t mushy and the sauce was rich and tasty we had the strawberry mule it was good very strong if you like that they have me more lime and ginger beer on the side and recommendations for a sister restaurant all and all an excellent dining experience!!!
