“I’ve been a regular here since Day 1 and I can’t believe I didn’t post a review until NOW!! What can I say, it’s the best seafood in West Haven HANDS DOWN! The oysters are fresh, the lobster rolls are the best, and the mussels for 2 is so flavorful. The staff are like family and welcome you with open arms. For drinks, I recommend the manhattans, old fashioned, espresso martinis and dirty martini with the blue cheese stuffed olives (YUM!). Their Moby’s lager is delicious and there’s a great selection of tequila. The bartenders are the best around! My favorite dishes are the lobster Mac, Lobster Rolls, Tuna Sushimi Oysters, Oysters Rockefeller, and tuna tartare. Trust me, you will not be disappointed with your dining experience! Nick and the crew will take good care of you. I’m a customer for life ❤️”

“I live just a couple miles away, drive by all the time and have wanted to try for quite a while. Tonight we went , all 3 of us got borria tacos. I wish I had come sooner. They were delicious. The juice to dip I like more then other restaurants. The meat could been a tad mor tender or just shredded more. But that will not stop me from coming back again, real soon. Great food and nice friendly warm service. Oh and the quac was best I've had. Loved it”

“I lived in this area in 2009 and discovered this little gem. I moved back to my home state of Michigan in 2010 but still have my whole family in West Haven, so I still come to town every 3-4 years to visit, and when I do? You best believe i am making a pit stop in here for a pastrami sub. 😋 This is 100% the best deli i have ever been to. The man and woman running it are the sweetest people, they always remember us when I mention we are from Michigan, and the food? Absolutely phenomenal. The steak subs? Delicious. The Italian combo? Large and full of flavor and toppings. However, the pastrami will always have my heart. No where even back in Michigan compares. 100/10. Go support this business. You and your taste buds won't regret it.”

“We happened to stumble into Elm Diner by chance, and what a find it turned out to be. The moment we walked in, the bright, welcoming atmosphere and spotless space immediately stood out. Then came Nicole, our waitress, greeting us with a genuine smile that made us feel like we’d been coming there for years.

The menu is impressively extensive, offering something for everyone. When our salad arrived, it was fresh, crisp, and generous just like the rest of the meal. Our dishes were flavorful and satisfying.

Nicole was exceptional, and the entire staff added to the experience with their friendliness and energy. There’s a real sense of camaraderie here that you don’t find everywhere.

If you’re anything like me, this place will set the bar for every diner you visit afterward. Every once in a while, you come across a restaurant that truly has it all, and Elm Diner is that rare gem.

“Having eaten what I ordered, I can safely say that it is the best comfort food I’ve had in the area! Every that uses heat to cook is primarily put inside the pizza ovens, giving it a nice crust be it toasting bread, fries, or even the pizzas themselves. The service was also great and I was given all the traditional sides to complement my sub and fries.”

“My family ordered here all the time years ago and they have always had deliciously reliable food on the cheaper side. Went back tonight to get some cheap food late at night and was not disappointed. Got our food (chicken fried rice, beef and broccoli, egg drop soup, half chicken, and fried scallops) in 15 minutes. Nothing fancy but super tasty and containers absolutely stuff.

A lot of the one-star reviews on google seem to feature non-Chinese food from restaurant named CHINA SEA, kinda weird. Great spot worth more than 3.4 stars”

“The food was phenomenal, so good that we had to bring our whole family here twice the same week. I had the Chorizo, and Asada burritos which were decently sized, they come with guacamole. The atmosphere was perfect with the tables and chairs being hand painted (I think). Service is another 10/10, they gave us free churros both times, and gave us chips and refried beans as a type of “unlimited side”. They were so kind wishing us happy mother’s days. Overall experience was a 10/10 and I will definitely recommend my other family members here.”

“Very nice customer services. They assisted me with my order right away. Everything was hot and fresh and they gave great conversation while waiting for my food. I did dine in and they ask me how was everything. Love that type of interaction when dining in thank you”

“So I typically have a great sandwich here, but the other day I placed an order over the phone for my grandfather’s birthday, and when I showed up too early to pick up the order I thought I heard they didn’t have one type of meats for the ‘Sweet Italian Combo’ (of course my grandfather’s sandwich, out of all of them ordered). I thought nothing of it as nobody said a word to me from behind the counter. Grabbed the orders and paid, get home and it was a grilled chicken sandwich with ham (random combination) BUT was labeled as the Sweet Italian. It all made sense now, and I was not mistaken from what I heard. The Provy Brother’s would of never of pulled that ‘stunt’ and would have been transparent that they did not have the available meat(s) for the sandwich instead of making whatever they decided AND labelling it as the requested sandwich when it was not. Yes, the sandwich was still good, but imagine my grandfather’s surprise on his 86th birthday that his favorite sandwich he ordered from his favorite sandwich shop was not what he ordered or wanted on his special day. Please don’t EVER do that again to anyone. That was messed up and you all know what you did. And yes, we will give you all another chance as your sandwiches are always great. Just please be honest to your loyal customers.”

When we got there to celebrate a girl's day out Riley was there, our waitress Shelly pointed her out so I could go over and introduce myself. Not only did EVERYONE treat us like we had been going there for years and were family, but Alissa made REALLY GREAT DRINKS and the FOOD WAS FANTASTIC. My sister had a couple cosmos, and my other friend and I had the chocolate martinis which were WONDERFUL!!! We had chicken tacos, fries and the Burbon pork belly bites were SOOOO GOOD you would want to slap anyone who tried to grab any. This was truly a good time and although it was busy, loud and was SOOOOOO MUCH FUN because everyone was fabulous. I will look forward to going back next time I'm in Connecticut.”

That was one big Quesadilla! I shared it with someone, because it was too much for me. Oh by the way, the garlic parm wings, & mild wings were delicious too! Don't sleep on Zee's food. It's fantastic. Also of note, check out their specialty drinks. Always something new & delicious to try!”
