Beautiful space. A little loud but still a nice atmosphere. Food was just alright. Very heavy on some particular flavors like anise and clove. Not a place for authentic food if that's what you're expecting. A lot of sweet and savory which I'm a fan of but just not well balanced. I think it there was a lot of soft textures. Maybe not enough acid. Nothing was bad but it was mostly one note. But pretty space. Friendly staff. Slow drinks but delicious. Pickled grapes? A new favorite food.

Had a delicious lunch at The Charles today. I was celebrating my 65th birthday and the food, service and staff were excellent. I will definitely be coming back. The Limoncello Ricotta Cheesecake was amazing!

Nice homestyle food. The pasta was good, salmon was not bad, and the service was very good. Located in a cute house. Lots of local clientele.Generally recommended!

The food and service was great. The atmosphere was super loud. So, if you want a place to catch up and talk, this isn't it. We were downstairs so thats the only area I could speak to. Other than that great.

Great food and craft cocktail selections. Parking has limited spaces. Not exactly fine dining. Overall, the menu is well thought out, and the food experience was delightful.Dietary restrictions: Several gluten-free offerings, such as pasta and bread.

We came here for a belated Valentine's day. Everything on the menu looked amazing, we ordered more than we could eat! I highly recommend the brussel sprouts, the steak fries was also great. The drinks are delicious too. We had to skip dessert because we were too full!

The Charles is a gorgeous restaurant with a beautiful history and warm, romantic charm. I came here as a late Valentine's Day dinner and I was extremely impressed by not only the vast options of food that could accommodate my gluten intolerance, but also the impeccable service. Our waiter was extremely attentive, personable and gave great suggestions for items to order. The food and drinks were all showstoppers: the menu has a lot of unique items but also traditional items with a twist. I got an AMAZING espresso martini for my drink and to start my partner and I shared the calamari which was gluten free and incredibly delicious. I haven't had calamari in years since my gluten intolerance began and seeing that on the menu was one of the main reasons I wanted to go to this restaurant for dinner. For entrees, we got the salmon dish and the Korean short ribs plus my partner got a side of truffle mac and cheese. Both meals were delicious, and my partner continues to rave about the mac and cheese a week after. The best part about the meal: homemade gluten free table bread. Yes, you read that right, GLUTEN FREE TABLE BREAD. Although there was a slight upcharge for it, the bread was so fresh and delicious I didn't mind paying a little extra. My partner even said it rivaled the regular table bread in taste. My one complaint was the volume inside. It was VERY loud, partly because of how close the tables are and how many people were in there dining. After a while, I got used to the volume and it was less of a bother but when we first sat down, it was definitely loud. Additionally, close parking is limited, the building is NOT handicapped accessible, and the entrance got incredibly crowded while waiting for our table. That being said, I would definitely go to this restaurant again for a romantic dinner.

This is a gem. The food is excellent. I need to mention their Scotch egg. It is as authentic as it gets. Steak Frites were also delicious.Great service.Real flower arrangements upstairs - not sure if that was because of a recent event.Parking is inadequate but it is worth it.
