Storm was our server and was able to give us some great, honest opinions. Ashley was absolutely amazing making sure that things were exquisite and went above and beyond for my friends Promotion. Thank you so much Ashley for making sure we had a memorable first experience.

Chef Pepe Moncayo was reluctant to confirm he was the chef until we assured home we *loved* his food at Cranes. His interpretation of Spanish Kaiseki is so delicious that I chewed every bite slowly so I could savor each and every morsel. Lunch was very reasonable, especially the bento box. My cousin's seafood ramen made our eyes roll to the back of our heads. Even the cappuccino was on point. Our server, Nishan, saw us eyeing the cherry blossom dessert (soon to be discontinued next week) and convinced us to try it. It was shiso sponge, rhubarb foam, and lychee granite. No wonder they won Michelin awards in 2021 and 2022. I love the combination of a masterful intersection between two wonderful cuisines, quiet elegance of the space and warm service.

We did the omakase. The first two courses were among our favorites, and dessert was an absolute showstopper. I love that their wine and sake menu is organized by flavor profile. Deeply elegant interior, great place for an elevated date night.

From reservation to dessert, our experience was seamless and enjoyable. We celebrated my wife's birthday at Cranes for the first time. The personalized service, cozy booth, and view into the kitchen set the stage perfectly. The Omakase with elevated pairing was incredible! Every dish was delicious, but my absolute favorite was the vegetarian soup dumpling trio – pure joy in every bite! As always, chef's tastings are an adventure, and Cranes delivered artistry, new flavors, and a special bonding experience.Thank you.

I have been to crane a few times and have tried omakase and a la carte menus. Loved all the dishes every time! My favorites are shrimp tempura and market fish.Recently we brought our three year old to the restaurant for a birthday celebration. We got him patatas bravas with sauces on the side. It was a big hit!Kid-friendliness: Our three-year old enjoyed the patatas bravas. We asked for the sauces on the side. The one that looks like ketchup is spicy, and a few different staff members reminded us of that as the dish came out. We really appreciated it!

I went with a friend last month for happy hour (at Bar Tsuru) and it was amazing! The food was amazing, and definitely felt like they put some care in the Spanish / Japanese fusion & the combination worked really well. Also, our bartender Matt was fantastic and made us felt more than welcome, and also gave us some good suggestions on drinks / tapas!

Somewhat disappointed with the omakase, but the a la carte options are very good. Cheesecake dessert was the star.

One of the few good places I know in DC. Went for a happy hour, the happy hour beer was not cold so they gave me menu beer for the same price. They recommended some items on and off the happy hour menu and everything was delicious. The pricing was great. Service was excellent, every time I raised my head, any waiter will come down and take the order. My glass was never empty either water or drink. My colleagues and I left very happy with the overall experience. Very rare to have something this good and inexpensive in DC!

The concept of spanish tapas with a Japanese element was very intriguing. The appetizers, bento box, and octopus were tasty. The ramen wasn't highly seasoned and lacked a rich broth. The fish was a bit lacking in freshness. I had higher expectations for the restaurant based on past reviews. I think they need to refocus on quality and execution for it to regain its past glory.

Loved their lunch omakase menu! It’s a good portion size for lunch (enough and not too much). The kitchen is somewhat open concept so you can see the chefs prep your food too ◡̈

Incredible omakase (chef’s tasting menu) at this Spanish-Japanese restaurant that each selection melts in the mouth, and the qualities of fresh ingredients are beyond compare!

I’ve had this place marked since it opened in 2021! I was excited to try it because it had a Michelin star up until last year.I went for lunch, so it was more casual and prices were more reasonable. I ordered the bento lunch box (see pic for food descriptions) and a cocktail. Everything was delicious! I wasn’t particularly “wowed”except for the udon noodles and the crudo, but flavors were there (all delicious) and service was amazing :-) the fusion concept wasn’t quite there in terms of Spanish flavor but maybe it’s more of the tapas concept.I still think it was worth it, especially for someone who enjoys going to places like this once in a while! The lunch box set was $38 and cocktail $16. I’d probably go again to try the omakase. Thank you for the wonderful lunch service!

Crane's is a highly specialized destination and the Japanese/Spanish tapas menu has limited appeal. My hope, after a couple of visits, is that the restaurant would add some classical Spanish and Japanese staples in addition to the fusion menu.
