The best Ethiopian food I've ever eaten (better than London), and perhaps my favourite restaurant in DC.

A great surprise! First time tasting Ethiopian cuisine, we really liked the flavors even if some were a little spicy for us... a cuisine that deserves to be known. The service was very long at the beginning before someone came to see us but the waitress was very nice and we were then quickly served. We recommend this address!

We’ve tried lots of different Ethiopian restaurants here in the DMV area and this is by far our favorite. Prices are great for the delicious food. Try the mesir wot (my personal fave!).

My partner and I had the best Ethiopian food of our lives here. We decided to give it a try after mourning the loss of Zenebech, and were delighted to be met with largely the same atmosphere and incredible food. The goden special tibs (with lamb) were actually some of the best things I’ve eaten in recent memory. It took a while to get the attention of our server again, but for us it’s more than worth it. :) Definitely coming back soon!

Delicious! Came all the way from nyc in part to try this place and it did not disappoint. Dol wat and mesier is must have. Big portions, good value, shared the 4x4 combo with 4 people

Elfgne is a fantastic Ethiopian restaurant in DC that I highly recommend. The food is absolutely delicious, and the service is excellent. I recently had the derek tibs, the gomen besega, lega tibs, mesir, ater, and timatim, and everything was incredible. The derek tibs were my favorite dish. They were cooked to perfection, and the spice level was just right. The gomen besega was also very good, and I loved the combination of greens and spices. The lega tibs were flavorful and tender, and the mesir was a delicious lentil stew. The ater was a great accompaniment to all of the dishes, and the timatim was a refreshing drink. The service at Elfgne was also excellent. Our server was very attentive and helpful, and she made sure we had a great experience.I would definitely recommend Elfgne to anyone looking for a great Ethiopian meal in DC. It's one of the best restaurants in the city!

Vegetarian options: The vegan and meat platter both were incredible. So were the drinks. Also very affordable. Very excited about this place.
