Lovely Tea Shop hidden amongst greenery off the main street near DuPont Circle! If you just want to sit in peace and have a pot of tea to yourself watching passerbys, this is the spot for you! :-) Sip slow and enjoy!

Teaism is a well-known teahouse brand with four shops in Washington, DC. I prefer the one in Dupont Circle because it has a cozy and homely feel, especially the upstairs dining area with windows overlooking the street. The place has an Asian-inspired decor and offers quality teas, all-day breakfast, bento boxes, light Japanese and Thai-style meals, and some snacks such as cookies and Asian-inspired desserts like matcha gelato, jasmine creme brulee, and mochi. We ordered salmon and Korean Beef Brisket bento sets, which tasted amazing. The salads that came with them added crunchiness to the food. The mochi had the expected texture and taste. It's a self-service establishment, so there is little to discuss about the service.

Wonderful food and tea! We go here whenever we're downtown! Wish it had more indoor seating.

As a frequent customer, I know they have great food, great tea, and in this location, a very crowded dining room upstairs. In order at the front and wait for your food then find a table. The downtown location has spacious dining room downstairs with a koi pond.

Favorite best food, amazing pastries ( like the Pear bread Pudding) see image. Clean and friendly staff. Outstanding in every way. Udon Noodle Soup is my favorite.

I stopped by one day after dinner, and the inside was really quite charming. Felt like I was in some random hole in the wall, only to later find out that they have a couple location across DC. Still a really charming location! I got a milk tea with boba, and it was great. It had a really strong tea flavor, with a perfect balance of creamy milk. The pearls were maybe a bit softer than I would like, but still surprisingly good. Definitely on the sweeter side, and I don't think they offer sweetness adjustments (?), so I would very much treat it as a dessert, rather than a refreshing drink or snack. Still, was yummy! I also saw they had some special for a tea cake, so I got one of those as well. Also super sweet, but overall good crumb and was yummy too. Would highly recommend if you want to grab some boba!

We stopped in this tea house after a morning spent at the O Museum. You order at a kiosk or the counter and wait until your number is called. There is some seating against the wall and more up a flight of stairs. I ordered okonomiyaki (cabbage pancake) with a fried egg and chicken sausage. My companions ordered another okonomiyaki pancake and the other ordered salmon ochazuke- Japanese rice & tea soup made with Hojicha green tea. My pancake was as large as the plate, but warm and crisp and the cabbage was tender, with flavorful sauces on top. I did not like the sausage. My friend loved the ochazuke - the salmon was perfect and the hot tea was the wonderful flavoring. There is a great tea selection- although I chose a boba - which was only one flavor - black tea although I did enjoy the chewy boba. I also would like to try the oat cookies they are well known for -- next time I guess. We enjoyed the food very much. I did not like the setup at all where you have to ascend steep stairs holding your heavy food-laden tray to the upper level of seating. I also did not like that the bathroom was almost in the kitchen and that mops and cleaning supplies are almost on the grill.

I've been here too many times to count, so just adding my $.02. Teaism is great and I'm glad to see vegan versions of many dishes they've had for a long time. My favorite is the palak paneer but the sweet potato salad with miso dressing is also so good that I've tried to make copycat versions at home. Also, the second floor here is a very peaceful and nice place to eat lunch or take tea.

In this cheery nook, where teas unite,Up the cozy stairs, a warm delight.Bubbles dance, and flavors shine so bright,A festival of teas, a merry sight.Though ramen's taste I did not seek,Its divine scent played hide and peek.Touch, taste, aroma in joyful blend,In this blissful haven, where moments mend.

I com here often for lunch with my partner and we love it! We are vegetarians and usually order the black bean bento box and the veggie okonomiyaki. It’s so full of flavor and plenty of food for two! We always wonder if we should try other things because all the other food we see in the other tables always look great, but we like these two too much to change, maybe next time! The teas are also great!Vegetarian options: Several great vegetarian options !

I had an amazing first experience at Teaism! One thing I REALLY appreciated was how each of their menu items had a visual to go with the written description. This really helped me figure out what I wanted / what I would be getting. The staff was also super patient and kind with any questions I had. I ordered their beef brisk sandwich broccoli, and my friend had their curry and broccoli tots. I thoroughly enjoyed my sandwich: the brisket was so tender, the ciabatta was fresh and perfectly toasted, and the coleslaw had a fun coconutty twist to it! I really liked the sweetness it added to the sandwich and will definitely be coming back to get it again. The regular side of broccoli was good, but the tots were definitely the better side. I couldn't end my meal without dessert, so I ordered their creme brulee and chocolate oat cookie. Both desserts were solid but nothing you have~~ to get.
