I was looking for some fashion and coffee table-type magazines in foreign languages for a work-related event, and wasn’t able to find them anywhere, until someone recommended I check out The Newsroom on Connecticut Ave NW in DuPont Circle. It was great! I bought 3 Vogues (French, German, and Italian), a People magazine (Spanish), and a few other fashion magazines. These will be great for our office’s fun activities related to learning/studying foreign languages. The owners were super helpful and friendly. Highly recommend!

I had missed the deadline for picking copies of the Scientific American which featured an article written by my daughter. All over the DMV, the previous month's issues were gone. I felt so badly! Steven, the owner, worked for two days and finally found the two copies we needed—and picked them up himself! It's rare when someone goes this above and beyond to help. Not only that, he and his staff were so friendly! I highly recommend this business!

Here’s another old-school treasure I found recently: a sole-proprietor newsstand like I remember from the 1970s with what seemed like hundreds of magazine titles on the shelves. I was in DC for a few days and on the hunt for the latest issue of a magazine that was about to hit the stands. The owner made it his mission to find a copy for me if one was anywhere in the city. He gave me daily text updates and was genuinely sorry he couldn’t find a copy for me before I had to leave. It was an amazing level of customer service that I wasn’t expecting. Next time I am in DC I will make a special trip to The Newsroom to support this fantastic local business.

I came upon this amazing shop while searching for a hard copy of the Atlantic for my Mom while she’s visiting because she wanted a specific article. I was surprised to find it’s nearly impossible to find hard copies of news in most of DC! I went to Kramer’s bookshop, but they don’t carry magazines. They pointed me to the Newsroom. What a gem! I felt like I was back in the Dupont Circle of two decades ago before all the franchises came in and Chipotlified everything. I had a lovely chat with the Kenyan and Guatemalan owners and ended up getting a bunch of magazines and newspapers. They were so kind- they gave me free recent copies of the Atlantic for my mom. There is something so soothing and cathartic about the smell and vibe of a news shop, and being able to turn pages and really take in content. I’ll definitely be back!

So glad they didn't close after Covid. One of the best places to buy any newspaper or magazine you need. One of the best things about living in Dupont Circle!

Amazing!! So glad I found this place online. I live on the west coast and was looking for a copy of the previous day's Washington Post (no newsstands near me stock it, I called them all) so I finally called The Newsroom on a long shot and the man was so friendly and helpful, set up an eBay listing for it and texted me the link to complete purchase! So many people these days just want to brush off any requests that mean extra work for them, so it's always really appreciated when someone is willing to go above and beyond to help you out. Thank you again, I hope great karma comes to you all, and I can't wait to visit in person when I'm in town. Long live printed media and the great newsstands!

The Newsroom is THE place to buy newspapers and magazines in Washington, DC. The store is massive and well stocked with current and recent titles. There is a wide selection, including materials from the local DMV area as well as selections from around the U.S. and the world. Not only is this a great shop for buying papers and magazines, but the owner is incredibly kind and thoughtful. When I started a new job recently and told him about it, he was so excited and bought me a magazine to celebrate the occasion. I don't have a lot of family in the area, so his kind action absolutely made my day. It felt like getting a hug from my mom!
