I had missed the deadline for picking copies of the Scientific American which featured an article written by my daughter. All over the DMV, the previous month's issues were gone. I felt so badly! Steven, the owner, worked for two days and finally found the two copies we needed—and picked them up himself! It's rare when someone goes this above and beyond to help. Not only that, he and his staff were so friendly! I highly recommend this business!
Here’s another old-school treasure I found recently: a sole-proprietor newsstand like I remember from the 1970s with what seemed like hundreds of magazine titles on the shelves. I was in DC for a few days and on the hunt for the latest issue of a magazine that was about to hit the stands. The owner made it his mission to find a copy for me if one was anywhere in the city. I was looking for some fashion and coffee table-type magazines in foreign languages for a work-related event, and wasn’t able to find them anywhere, until someone recommended I check out The Newsroom on Connecticut Ave NW in DuPont Circle. It was great! I bought 3 Vogues (French, German, and Italian), a People magazine (Spanish), and a few other fashion magazines.
