I've been to this place once and wasn't impressed. This was a couple of years ago. Didn't like the ambience and food was mediocre.

Very disappointed! Food was too salty, not hot and way over cooked. Service was slow. Prices too high for the tiny serving sizes. We will not be coming here again!

Dirty inside, service was not good...food was just ok. It didn't taste like Mexican food.

The food was pretty good and service was fast. I like the decor too. I'd come here again, it's your typical dine in Mexican restaurant and pretty much what you would expect.

Pretty good, staff was attentive, food was good. I would go again. After a drive from Texas it was nice to get good food.

Do not ever go to this restaurant. My friends and I came here for Cinco de Mayo for a friends birthday. We made reservations because of the day. When we arrived a few minutes before our reservation we were told "They got busy" so we'd have to wait for a table. We waited for 25 minutes to be seated. After seated, we waited 15 minutes and we had to ask for a server. We were told, she's very busy. The place was not full. When the server finally came over we ordered our drinks and food to make it go faster. We asked for cheese dip and salsa a few times and we never received it. We ordered another drink and our food still didn't arrive. After she finally dropped off our second order of drinks, I asked if our food was coming out (it had been about an hour since we ordered.) She then immediately brought it out and you could tell it was sitting for a bit. It was still tasty. But when we asked for our bills it took about a half hour for the server to get them correct. She charged for the items we didn't receive. When I went to pay, the young girl kept running my credit card and the receipt was blank. I asked to please stop running my card. She said it didn't go through. Finally someone came to help. The next day, my bank account was charged 4 times. Now I have to hassle with them to get my money refunded. Nightmare dinner.

We've been going to La Quetzalteca a few times a year since we moved to Smyrna about four years ago. The food has always been good but the service has always been lacking. We probably wouldn't go out of our way to go there but we've received gift cards to go there from co-workers the past two years. The decor is over the top with lots of brightly colored paints on the walls and booths but it seems par for the course when compared to the other Mexican restaurants in Delaware. The seating area doesn't feel dirty but a good deep clean and some better lighting would do wonders to make the place feel more vibrant. Like I said before, the food has always been good. We've ordered many different things on the menu and we've never been disappointed. Some of our favorites are the California Burrito (shrimp), enchiladas, and sopapillas (desert of crispy tortillas with honey and cinnamon sugar). It's not the best Mexican food but it's far better than what is served at the fast food places. The biggest draw back of going to La Quetzalteca is the service. It seems like we are always constantly waiting for something. You'll always get seated quickly but after that there'll be an almost longer than acceptable wait between getting the drinks and food and then your bill. I've been told the service in Delaware is just slower overall compared to where we are originally from (Central New York) but this place really pushes that to the extreme. As long as we have gift cards to come here, we'll continue to try it out but there are other places that do a better job.

Had lunch one afternoon and the service was decent and the food was good. I've eaten at a lot of traditional Mexican restaurants and this was as good as those. The decor is a bit over the top but it's easily overlooked for a decent, traditional meal.

Food isn't good, environment isn't great, the good service can't make up for what the place lacks.

Don't let the decor fool you here. The carnitas and chile relleno were heavenly. If you're in the area, try it

I'm glad you like the mexican food. And I hope you like cockroaches too because the kitchen where they make your food is full of them. They have dead cockroaches in their ice too and they don't even bother to take them off and the ice goes in your drinks..yummy..oops it was supposed to be a secret..but since I'm not working there anymore well I really felt bad for you guys you know..I mean I wouldn't like to eat food with cockroaches..but if you like them go ahead. Just wanted to let you know. Enjoy your food.

This place is terrible! Service sucks, food doesn't come as ordered, mixed drinks are disgusting. Waiter actually laughed at me when I told him my burrito was awful, do not make the mistake of going to this awful joint.
