I liked their vegetarian options like the sweet potato sushi, avocado and cucumber rolls, edamame (unpeeled) are fun to snack on using the chopsticks. Loved their quaint cool decor. They serve complimentary onion rings & fried oreos during dinner service. The lunch menu options are well balanced and hibachi plate portions are decent. Sweet potato fries is a good side dish.

Convenient to the Deerwood/Baymeadows area. Quaint location with two tables for outdoor seating. Never too busy - a just right size with good food and service. My kids enjoy the food and this is now part of our dining out routine. I will update this review once we sample more of the menu, including the sushi.

A friend of mine recommend this place. If you're looking for traditional Japanese Sushi instead all those fusion places this place should be on your short list. The owner moved here from Japan last year. He opened less than a year ago so go check it out!We went for lunch and opted to sit at the bar and watch him prepare the food.

I stopped for a quick take out yesterday as a first time customer. Takoyaki with benito flakes are out of this world. The Katsu Pork curry was so flavorful and portioned well. Absolutely will be back. Oishii!!

Amazing food! Reminded me of Japan! I’ve been looking for the real Japanese food in Jax for a long time. This place didn’t disappoint me.
This is the only Japanese restaurant that I know is owned by an actual Japanese owner and sushi chef.?Let me preface this by saying this is about the Omakase. Don't expect flashy stuff. It is Edomae sushi omakase. Meaning that it is traditional and simple. Focused on flavor. They also have a regular menu with sushi, ramen, curry, and other items.?The omakase is not only reasonably priced (you get a 16-course meal), but the customer service is ? ! It is $65 deposit for reservation per person. Once you finish, it is refunded, and you get the final check of $129 per person. Try to call 24 hours in advance, but if you can't, call ahead and ask them if they have an opening or are able to have you for omakase.??You can tell Chef Hiro is very passionate. He was very attentive and described each course with detail. He's honestly a gem! The regular menu has japanese items that I have not seen at other restaurants in Jacksonville. Everything was incredibly delicious and unique in their flavor profile. The uni we had was so smooth and fresh (no bitterness at all), and that was THE best Warabi mochi we've ever had.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️This has easily become my top Japanese restaurant. Run to this place!

I was craving sushi so we went to a close by spot - Hiro - and NOT disappointed. Sushi was high quality and delicious. We were surprised with tempura Oreos, very kind. Delicious food and service was great. Recommend!

Hidden gem. New go-to sushi spot. Favorites from the table were the grilled gyoza and the sushi entree (10pcs+chef's roll). Very fresh, very affordable, and great atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Was on a trip from Atlanta. I stopped by here and I must say it was a great choice. The sushi was AMAZING! Great Service as Well! Keep it up! ??

This was a really cute little Japanese restaurant! We went there for hibachi but it's not your traditional hibachi experience with the grill in front of you. The food however tasted great! Their sushi was also really good and they have a wide array. The service at the restaurant was great! All of the staff were so friendly and gave us free appetizers and dessert on the house!

We are so lucky to have Hiro so close to our house. It is our go-to sushi place! The staff is helpful and the person I'm assuming is the manager/proprietor is very knowledgeable about the types of fish they have to offer. We always try something a little different and are never disappointed.
