The hotel is nice but old. The bedroom was very comfortable and the pool area was fine. There are supposedly 3 bars on the premises but only the pool bar is open during the day time. One bar is so secluded you need a map and compass to find it and it opens at 9pm. The third bar also opens late but only saw it operating on Thursday night for a fun karaoke scene. The check-in with Eduardo was a nightmare and my room A108 was in a fire stairwell. So the banging of that door was disturbing however you had a window to the pool.

The only real advantages of this hotel are its affordable price and location, which is just a 5-minute walk from the beach. The hotel advertises itself as LGBTQ+ friendly, but this is just a marketing ploy. The hotel's breakfast was a far cry from what we expected, as it was only coffee and a mini croissant. Our stay at the hotel was ruined by the noise from construction in the building next door. We were woken up on our first morning by the sound of drills and hammers. The staff gave us a room with windows that looked directly onto the construction site. After we complained about the noise, the receptionist made us feel like we were being unreasonable. We were eventually given a different room, but this one overlooked the hotel's rubbish heap. To make matters worse, we were charged for items from the minibar that we never touched. We don't drink alcohol, so there is no way that we could have used the minibar. We believe that the hotel is illegally charging guests in the hope that they will not notice. We were very disappointed with our stay at this hotel. It is not LGBTQ+ friendly, the staff are unhelpful, and the construction noise is unbearable.

I arrived early for my check in and due to my wait and the weather I wasn’t able to go out as planned, the staff Jose and Ahmed helped me with storing my cases and getting checked into my room early. I was also upgraded to a suite with balcony and pool view which was a lovely added bonus. Overall a great check in experience and I would recommend this hotel :) The location is great also!

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! Jose Luis went above and beyond to assist me, making my experience even more enjoyable. The hotel itself was excellent, and the check-in process was incredibly quick and efficient. I highly recommend this place for a wonderful stay!

Jose Luis was so great and patient with us at the front desk. We were having some trouble with our card payment but he took the time to help so we could get out reservation. Thank you so much to Jose and axel beach for making my vacation worthwhile.

Jose Luis was really helpful, he made the check in process really fast and quickly, something I really appreciate whenever I travel. He was really kind and explain to me every doubt I had about the hotel.

Stayed here a few times. Staff is always great. The last two times I’ve stayed, I’ve been helped by Jose Luis and he’s always been really helpful. Definitely busier in the summer compared to spring. The pool at night is a nice spot to post up.

Beautiful hotel. Simply charming rooms in beautiful building, with luscious greenery amongst the outside corridors. Staff was very nice and the bellboy (I can’t remember his name unfortunately) was such a sweetheart, and made me feel welcome. This was my first stay at a gay hotel. I wish I was a bit less self-conscious so I could have enjoyed some more of the amenities, but I ended up just enjoying the beautiful tub and room.

The hotel was amazing. And the attention from the staff was spectacular, especially front desk receptionist Jorge Luis & bell hop Marlon. Our room had a beautiful view overlooking the pool it was a beautifies to wake up to

The rooms could be better and our TV didn’t work most of the time. The communal areas are not the most welcoming. However, this was one of the cheapest hotel in the south beach area. If the receptionist doesn’t inform you, sun lounger access is available on the beach and comes complimentary. I say this as our checkin experience was not the most welcoming, the receptionist took what seemed an age just to acknowledge us standing there. On the flip side of that, Tyler was extremely helpful and so friendly he was certainly the best front for the hotel. I would choose to stay here again, but some things need to be worked on.

My husband and I stayed at Axel for my birthday. We had an amazing stay. The hotel is in south beach but far enough north to be a bit away from the craziness of the area. The rooms are small but that’s to be expected from an art deco building and they were more than adequate. The hotel is spotless. We were very happy to have beach chairs included in our resort fee so we could walk steps to the beach and be fully set up for the day. The best part though is the staff. They made us feel like family! Brianna at the front desk is super sweet and always asked us what we were planning to do that day. The drag queens at the bar and Sunday bingo pool party were so sweet and hilarious - making sure to constantly wish me a happy birthday. The stay far exceeded our expectations! We had a wonderful visit!

The location of the hotel is very good, in the center of southbeach. The beach, oceandrive, restaurants, bars, shopping, all is nearby and you can explore all with a little walk from the hotel. The staff was very friendly. We had some good drinks at the pool bar and a dinner, which was good and not to expensive. The pool bar is a nice place to relax. I also liked the sky bar with the colorful dancefloor and good music, but it isn't at the top like the name mentoined, it's at the back of the hotel. The pool has a good size. In all, besides of the good things we are very disappointed from this hotel. It needs more love and a better management. When you check the website, it looks nice and like a little paradise. But many small things made it bad at the end. Our room wasn't very clean, we had much dust in the room and the bathroom looked not good cleaned. Also the floor in the room was not clean, walking with white socks in the room made them not looking white after it. The bathroom is to small, the toiletpaper at the wall made that you can't sit comfortbale at the toilet. The air condition was bad, the temperature was set fix from the hotel, we can't change that. In every motel we had before in the US, we could choose our own temperature. The corridors looked terrible, very old and need to be renowated. The pool is dirty, you should clean that more often. It isn't difficult to clean the floor of the pool every day. The handle of the shower at the pool is broken, the spa pool has a poor blast. It is not a whirlpool like anyone imagine when he thinks of a whirlpool. The wellness center was closed during the stay, no use of sauna or steam bad was possible. No hint at the website, that the wellness center is closed at the moment. At the reception was an advertisement that at the weekends, there is a pool party - this party was not more as a few rounds of playing bingo. Please name it as it is and stop dazzling your customers.

The room was fine - clean and well equipped - and there were plenty of relatively friendly staff around. But for the price, it was disappointing that the jets on the hot tub didn't work, that the sauna was out of commission and that the handle on the outdoor shower by the pool was broken off. They need more attention to facility maintenance if they are claiming to offer an "exclusive paradise."

This place came to a complete surprise. I asked travel to Florida and typically look for cases on hotels tonight however, our friends recommended us to stay here. Upon arrival you were helped check in find great rooms and unload that we had with us. The pool area was very inviting with exceptional large lounge chairs covered with turquoise terry cloth. We went to the beach and, our chairs were free. The umbrellas were affordable. Unlike most hotels, you pay a fortune to enjoy the beach. This was a major plus! Parking was near and easy. The rooms were super clean with stocked fridge. Even complimentary condoms. lol Inclusiveness and diversity of this hotel was so refreshing. Plenty of places to charge devices, great bar, music and vibe. Quiet rooms. After staying in over 20 hotels by hotels tonight, this stands out as my fav! I will be back. Thank you !!!

We enjoyed a three-night stay at this "hetero-friendly" hotel, and you can't beat the location of this property. The prices are worth the one-block walk to Ocean Drive, so you can easily walk to restaurants, the beach, and nearby public parking. The onsite restaurant had a great breakfast (not included in the room rate) and cocktails were available. Nice pool area and hot tub, but disappointing that you could not turn on the hot tub jets (the handle on the timer was missing) and that whole area closed down at 8 p.m. so you could not enjoy a late night soak or swim in the heart of an area that is up most of the night. Speaking of which, if you have a room facing the street (like we did) be prepared for lots of street noise and roaring sportscars into the wee hours of the morning. The simple solution is earplugs since this is party central in South Beach! Much of this is an older property that appears to be recently acquired by Axel Hotels. They really should make some investments in the property with simple things like luggage racks in the room, televisions that will connect to your own devices (like they say they do, but they don't), some shelves in the bathroom for personal toiletries, curtains that close smoothly, cleaning the windows, etc. The old rooms have wonderful charm, but the walls are thin and the lighting is all very dated and/or plain. Rather than an overpriced honor bar, it would have been nice to have had a refrigerator and microwave. There was a spa advertised but all that I could find was a door that said "out of order." Also, there was a gate at the "rear" of the property that opened onto the next street (full of great restaurants, etc.) but you could not use your room key to enter from that location. Time to get that gate fixed! And one last thing that I thought was odd. There is a small drop-off area for guests to leave their cars when they check-in, but some of the staff is allowed to park there. There were as many as three cars parked there at one time, which did not leave much room for the guests. There is a large public parking garage (for a fee) just a block away, and I think they should pay for their staff to park there. That would go a long way to making the property look more professional.
