Having dined here last night, I can say for a fact that living in West, West, WestWest Kendall does not limit you to chain restaurants and basic food!I was in the area running errands, was hungry afterwards and noticed that Despenza was in the area. Having fond memories of them from Yelp's Quince last year, I decided to stop by. Even in times of Rona, they're still open with both outside seating and takeout. The tables are adequately separated and the wait staff had masks. My waitress was also friendly and her recommendation for their bacon chicken roulade on point.Considering that I had to hit the road back, I stuck with caffeine - both their peach iced tea and a very strong cortadito. They even serve it with brown sugar.Now, since I was in the area after my usual 16 hour work days I decided to try a full course meal. Their appetizer menu makes for difficult choice, as it all sounds good. I opted to start with the chicken wings. These drummies are actually pretty sizeable with juicy meat, and their guava, red wine & rum sauce provides a tasty exclamation point. So much so that I asked for an extra side of sauce for my main course.Their menu is a modern, tastier take to traditional latin dishes so of course my side was their tostones with black beans & rice. The toston was perfectly mashed and the beans tasted like the ones Mima makes. My main was their bacon chicken roulade ("pollo en rollito"). An appetizing mixology of a thin yet tasty chicken breast, platanitos (sweet plantains) and parm all bound with bacon. Hungry yet? They were delicious even without the added side of sauce I requested.I didn't have room for dessert, but their burger, other tapas and dessert give me a reason to come back. I'm holding off a star for that, to come back & try this oasis on the edge of the Everglades.

The wife and I saw this pop up on only in Kendall and decided to give it a try. WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED. Everything was AMAZING! We started off with the complimentary tortilla chips with queso and Spanish chorizo then had the Jibarito appetizer . Our mains were the picanha and pan seared salmon i seriously cannot say enough how amazing our food was. We hope to make this our new regular spot and try the rest of the menu.

Love this place. Super cozy and the food is amazing. Wait staff has been great every time we have come in. Prices are very feasible as well. Support these type of places!

Food is fresh and flavorful. Social Distancing is being observed. We had the Guava Ribs and Spicy Ceviche . We will be back to repeat. Nice a quaint in West Kendall.

The atmosphere alone was amazing as soon as you walk in you are greeted by the beautiful smiles and even more pleasing aroma and yes I’m talking about the food. The owner herself even came to our table greeted and ensured our service was of the highest caliber and boy she did not disappoint, the food clearly met my high standards of presentation and flavor profile as well. The staff and owner truly make this restaurant one of Miami’s truly hidden gems

Everything on the menu is excellent! Never have I been to a restaurant where every option looked absolutely appetizing. The staff is friendly and if you want to try something creative while staying local, Despensa is the place.

Excellent food and service! We wanted to try their famous crispy dumplings for appetizers but they didn't have them that day. We had the salmon croquettes instead and they were very good. Entrees were good as well and I would definitely recommend the Cuban cannoli for desserts.

Our group of five stopped here for lunch while waiting for our evening flight home to Boston. We had one of the best meals ever! Food was outstanding - make sure you try the salmon croquettes! Wonderful food and great staff. Despensa is a gem!

The food was simply amazing. Everything was delicious. We had for appetizers smoke salmon croquettes, aranitas with ropa vieja and tequenos. For dinner we had lomo salteado and ir was to die for and off course the dessert was out of this world we had guava and cream cheese cannolis with vanilla ice cream. And let’s not forget our server her name is Silvia super nice, attentive, creative and excellent customer service skills. We will definitely go back super soon.
