We picked up pulled pork & sauce from this bbq truck- enough for a number of meals because it’s so good! In all the years we have been coming to visit, we have to get our Gants “fix” and our friends even get some to freeze to take back home (up north) for future meals.

We stop here after kayaking with hungry tummies. The service is very friendly and the food is out of this world. We park and eat at the picnic tables that are always clean and ready for you. The umbrellas are a perfect shade for eating and conversation while enjoying the beautiful atmosphere. We love the experience and the price isn't bad either. We always feel like we got a good deal for our money.

I come from a land that has sticky finger licking good barbeque. They cook the lathered-on sauce on the meat and there are portions where the sauce is still wet but cooked to the right delicious temperature. That is still my favorite, but Gants doesn't do it that way. I don't think I've ever had a dry rub, but I was impressed with him the first time I had his barbecued ribs! They are so fantastic, that we kept going back. My family usually orders the triad meal, where you get ribs, chicken, pulled pork and sides. The chicken could be improved. I've had it when it tasted old and bland. But since the son took over, it has more flavor. The pulled pork is good, but nothing special. The barbeque sauce comes in a mini Styrofoam bowl that holds 1/4 - 1/3 cup of thin sauce. It has a good flavor. The dinner comes with 1 or 2 slices of regular white bread. The barbecue beans are the best I've ever eaten. They have the right amount of sweetness. The potato salad tastes okay, but it isn't the best I've ever had. It's yellow, the potatoes are cut too small (about 1/2-inch chunks) and the sauce contains disintegrated potato. I recommend they change it to a warm potato salad made with a good mayo, one egg per 4 servings and less mustard. The slaw has a wonderful taste, but the last time I had it, the cabbage and slivers of carrot were limp and not perky and fresh looking. The interesting thing about this place is that once the owner sells all the food he made that day, he closes his shop, which is a trailer. I'm told that if you want ribs, you have to order at least a day ahead. I think there is a screened area with a picnic table. I have never used it. They are next door to a Dollar General on hwy 98. It's convenient to go next door and buy drinks, chips, fruit or a dessert. We ordered his food once for a big party. The rest of the time, someone from our family calls ahead and picks it up.

Great BBQ! The ribs were one of the best I have ever had. They were solid with and without the barbecue sauce. My only disappointment was I did not get there early enough to get banana pudding as they sold out.
