Restaurantji's Safety Harbor recommendations for the finest Mexican cuisine.
“We always make sure to stop at Badfins Food + Brew every time we go to Clearwater. The food is very tasty and love to try many of the different local craft beer selections. Jessica, our server was great, knowledgeable and friendly when we had questions for her. Can’t wait to go back on our next Clearwater vacation. Highly recommend!“
“Just visiting Clearwater beach and the family wanted Mexican. Found this gem on google. So happy I did. From start to finish the food was outstanding. The simple salsa had some spice with warm freshly made chips. I ordered the carnitas which didn’t disappoint. Perfectly cooked and seasoned pork. Homemade refried beans like a soft spread. Even the simple pico de gallo was well done. Also had a side chile relleno which was soft , tasty and simply made with a verde sauce. Every one of my family loved their dishes. This is clearly a family run place with friendly staff that were very attentive. Finished with a not to miss birthday celebration. Absolutely worth it. Only sadness is not being from here. I would be there every week.“
“my husband and I came in for dinner. We came into support dying out for life Tampa Bay charity fundraiser. Thank you Casa Tina for participating. Great service by Paula. Wonderful food.Parking: Great option during the week! Get there early if you’re coming on the weekend.“
“I stayed very close to this location and visited this location about four times. The location is clean friendly and has an amazing environment. Each time I ordered beers shrimp tacos and churros. Highly recommend this place thanks for the great service and awesome food. JM Toronto, “
“This a total family operated restaurant. Father cooks, mother expedites and sons waite. Food is all prepared fresh from scratch and is authenic! I have tried most dishes and all are very good but I especially enjoy the fish Tacos. Great place and great family.Vegetarian options: not a vegetarian so can't comment“
“First time visiting here and we really enjoyed it. I had Wahoo and a Caesar salad and both were good. There is very limited seating, so come early or plan on waiting. We walked from the beach, so you may have a hard time parking too if you try to park in the municipal lot closest to the restaurant.“
“5 stars for authenticity and freshness. Our food was delicious, fresh and finally real Mexican flavors. Nothing to look at inside or outside. The location is in a gas station lol but they make up for it in the quality of the food. Attentive service. The margaritas were yummy and 2 for$6 which was surprising. We had birria, chicken tacos and green enchiladas.“
“We had at rehearsal dinner at the Marina Cantina and I could not be more pleased with how it turned out. Leading up to the event, we worked with Nina very often and she was extremely communicative and kind. She helped ensure our event was well prepared and it truly was! The food was absolutely delicious, our guests were raving about everything! I even heard a guest say it was the best rehearsal dinner food they have ever had! The servers, bartenders and staff were on their A game and kept the space clean, especially during the meal and dessert transitions. I am so glad we choose the Marina Cantina for our event. 10/10 recommend!!!!!!!Wheelchair accessibility: A guest at our rehearsal dinner was in a wheel chair & had full access to the elevator and had no issues getting around!“
“I had a Vegan black bean burrito ? with stir fry peppers and onions . And as an appetizer 2 tacos with the same stir fried vegetables. Both were very delicious and I forced myself to eat only half the burrito so I could enjoy the next day for lunch. Looking forward to my next visit.“
“So glad we found this cute place in Palm Harbor they have an amazing array of drinks great prices on margaritas.I had the very white sangria, which was yummy. They have a nice menu, lots of choices. We had tamales, which were enormous, could only eatone which was just the right siyes we do plan to go back.“
“I'm so blessed that this place is about five minutes from me. I've been looking for a go-to taco place since crossing over Racetrack Road and becoming a Pinellas Resident instead of Hillsborough. I have driven by Juli's multiple times a week every week for a couple of years now and wish I had stopped sooner. My search is over. Thank goodness!!!The place is unassuming, but festive. Hope they bring the produce back at some point. I missed that part of their business. This is a food truck with a good size patio for a fresh air option to enjoy your food there. I did take-out this time. For some variety, I ordered one steak, one chicken, and one marinated pork taco. To round out my experience, I added the esquites (termed something else on the menu). I would love the option to have tried a shrimp or fish taco, but you must buy in orders of three (which I see often at Mexican and Taco places alike) for $11, which is actually a good deal. The pork marinated came recommended and did not disappoint. All three tacos were excellent. They provided plenty of limes and hot sauce, which added a nice heat and additional layer of flavor (I tried them with and without the sauce. I'm a habanero/ scotch bonnet heat level; but for those who do not like spicy, these are flavorful without). The esquites was what I would expect. I prefer elote (the cob over a cup).Normally, I do not buy a drink with dinner or lunch. I drink a lot of water and do not want the sugar, caffeine, or carbonation in most available options. They had Aqua Fresca Tamarindo, and I love any and all things tamarind, so I treated myself (started a new job this week, so why not). This may have been the highlight for me or icing on the cake. Wow, so much tamarind flavor and not overly sweet. Large cup, so I split this and drank half with my meal and the other half the next day (actually smiled to myself when I saw it waiting for me in the fridge). They offer a decent size refrigerator of drink options of choices and had a few aqua fresca choices. I should have checked to see if they have the Mexican Cokes. I do those about once a quarter.Going forward, this is my go-to taco spot. I see why the ratings are so high. Well deserved. If you are near this like jem, do yourself a favor and stop in.Parking: There is plenty of parking. They still have the building/store where they used to sell produce (it's currently locked up, so enter through the patio).“
“a really yummy surprise while visiting Tampa! this place is the OG's of Birria! Don't expect fancy or health food, but greasy, delightfully tasty comfort food all made to order in house. plus, the Aguas Frescas are LEGIT.seriously, If you've never had Birria tacos before, then do yourself a favor and make this place you try yourself. will definitely come again next time I'm in Tampa!“
“This place is a hidden gem !! By far the best food in the area !! I don’t want to call is Mexican , Spanish or Latin food . Food this good isn’t from a place it is from a persons love to cook !! I stop in anytime I am close by and have had something different every time. From the taco to the enchiladas. From the quesadillas to the burritos. It has been top notch and puts a smile on my face every time . Thank you Maria for all the good food!!“
“Seems like good value. The portions are large. My tacos were packed with meat, toppings and flavor. My burrito bowl was equally as good. What can you say, same toppings, same great flavor. All the toppings and meat were fresh. I had the beef and chicken for tacos and the pork and chicken in my bowl. Really, really good.“
“We just completed a job nearby and we googled authentic Mexican food and we found this hidden gem ?✨Let me tell you I highly recommend if you want authentic Mexican tacos, authentic sopes, tortas they have it all!!??The staff is super friendly, very fast, very knowledgeable and again super friendly, which is hard to find nowadays take it from me. We eat out a lotI highly recommend five stars plus“
“Food is amazing as is the service!! Best people you will ever meet and you always feel welcome and at home. We come here often and have never once had a bad meal or bad service - to C Allison - we witnessed your tirade and your reported experience simply never happened. You were rude, impatient and lied about being a police officer and started taking photos of the manager when you were completely out of line and delusional. I truly hope you mean it when you say you won’t be back because no one wants to see you in this wonderful establishment again.“
“Clean, Delicious & Flavorful! Huge Burrito!! Spicy steak & saw they have spicy Chicken for next time!Monday Special; Burrito & Chips & Drink for $9.29Taste Great & Great Deal compared to Chipotle that does nothing like this deal. These items at Chipotle would be OVER $20I’m coming back here!!!“
“Quaint little Mexican restaurant. It is a little weird when you first walk in there’s no one to greet you, but someone said sit wherever you like after a little bit. The server came by super quick and got our order in fast. The food came out super quick and they gave us chips and salsa while we waited. The food was very flavorful. I ordered the pollo with mole sauce. I would definitely return!“
“Que delicia!!! The best tacos I've had in the States. Mexican done beautifully. Tacos El Carnal take the simple street taco and elevate it to a level where every taste bud is gently coated in their magic cooking talents. As a fellow (non-Mexican) Latina, places like this one are why I think of Mexican people as being the best cooks in the world.“
“It was pretty good steak was tender. Place was totally dead during lunch. The chips and dip were not good though. Waaaayyyy over cooked chips the dip was cold like strait from the fridge. Not much parking but it wasn't needed bc there was no one there but me.Parking: Small lot“
“Cute and casual wine bar! They offer a Sangria and Tacos special on Tuesdays and sangria is perfect for those who enjoy the drink without a plethora of fruit in the glass, just refreshing juice and ice. Noe helped us out and we enjoyed watching him work on a future art installation for the bar. Their spicy chili oil tacos were OUTSTANDING, I asked about the spice factor, and was reassured it was flavor over flame, just my kind of dish. All the stars, will come back!“
“Food was excellent and well priced. Our server was fantastic and attentive to our needs. Server and manager/owner genuinely thanked us on our way out. Route to the bathroom was a little sketchy (under construction?) but will definitely be back and highly recommended.“
“For what it is it's really good. Precooked food assembled into a burrito, bowl etc. Fast friendly service. Small place but probably most people get food to go. Quick meal where you get to pick your specific ingredients but good tasting.“
“Absolutely fantastic food. They not only made my top food list once, but twice in just one late night delivery order. The Quessabirria Combo was a wonderful experience and the beef was cooked to absolute perfection and came with an array of delicious sauces and dips. That alone made my week, but then I tasted the most perfectly handmade tortilla chips I've ever had in my life. My entire family was thrilled with the white cheese dip and chips and were fighting over the crumbs. Will order again and again.“
“Lucked out with the lunch special today and landed on beef stew day. Black beans, yellow rice, potatoes, and sweet delicious plantains came with the meal. Generous portions and fast, friendly service. Well spiced and authentic Cuban cuisine. Fantastico.“
“So I found this place by a simple google search and we love AUTHENTIC MEXICAN food. When we pulled up we were a little hesitant, as the outside is not conducive to what’s on the inside. We went in anyway..and were pleasantly surprised! Our server Blanca was very friendly and attentive and provided EXCELLENT SERVICE! As we were sitting the restaurant began to fill up and this was a Thursday evening, so it’s obviously a hidden gem that I’m thrilled to have discovered. The burrito I had - burrito verde - was phenomenal and bursting with flavor and filling and it was ENORMOUS (which I was very happy about)! My husband had the fajitas and they smelled and looked wonderful. Carnitas taco ??????! The meat was tender and juicy. The guacamole is good just needed a little salt and the margarita was just ok but I wasn’t there for drinks so that doesn’t change anything for me.You must go and be hungry when you get there.“
“I love the outdoor seating area, so bright and cheerful with flowers. The food is amazing and so fresh! The staff here works very hard to make everyone happy, I always make sure to leave them a cash tip! Thank you for everything! Plenty of parking behind the restaurant!“
“We had dinner here. I got Enchiladas Rancheras and my wife made a combo. The food was ok. Not the best or the worst. The price is a bit high but not outrageous. I don’t know if I want to come back, however, my wife enjoyed her food, and is considering to come back.“
“In the area and noticed that El Paraíso had opened in a prior Mexican restaurant. We decided to give it a try for lunch after church with family. Laid out nice and can't miss the lighted pair of (angel?) wings. The five of us were seated right away. We ordered drinks and Queso Blanco and checked the menu. My wife ordered the Torta Mexicana; eldest daughter the Paraíso Burger; youngest daughter the Lunch Taco special; grandson the Steak Fajitas; granddaughter the Lunch Burrito special with fries; finally I ordered the Taco Salad with ground beef. We enjoyed the hot Tortilla Chips with Queso Blanco and 4 salsa - 1 regular and 3 smaller ones with different hot salsa - nice! Our food came fairly quickly. Tacos were great, Burrito was great and Fajitas were great. Torta was ok, Burger ok (who gets a burger in Mexican restaurant?? Taco Salad was disappointing, refried beans 3x the beef, a bit much. Service great, ambiance great, food good.“
“Food was amazing !!!! It was their first day opened and they killed it . Food was absolutely amazing . The mega sope was the size of a small pizza . Salsa was good . The only problem was food took a little while but it’s their first day so it was understandable.“
“Simple. Laughter. Lots of chatter. Relaxing. Enjoyable breakfast foods but to be honest, I've never had anything different. Service - those people hustle. Candid - go, enjoy the food, the servers, and the other patrons. Just a nice place. An oasis. ?“
“I wish I took pictures of the food! Everything was so delicious. The fact they had tortas was what called us in. The meat was fresh and seasoned very well. We were able to place our order online, and because they didn't have a certain meat we ordered they called to let us know and pick which we would like instead which I thought was great customer service. Very friendly when you walk in. A hidden gem! I will definitely be back to try more of what they offer. It's hard to find very good Mexican food.“
“One of my favorite places to get great snacks, good food and delicious horchata. It is sometimes super busy and hard to place and order - but it’s always so worth it and so delicious.Parking: Parking is sometimes super tight due to it busy - but we always park right past next to the church.“
“Another great local location! There is always good energy here when my bf and I stop in for some food! In my opinion this is the best place to get a burrito bowl in the area. Who needs a chipotle?? The ladies behind the counter give great service as well too! :)“
“Just left Grand Hacienda at Tyrone Mall in St Petersburg and was introduced to one of the best meals that is on their special menu introduced today. It is the birria ramen!! absolutely delicious. The flavor is amazing and it has pieces of tender birria beef found in their special tacos. It’s being prepared for a short period of time. Go try it…..you will love it!!“
“I love this place it is by far my favorite taco spot in the whole Bay Area with fresh tortillas made right in front of you. I will drive out of my way to get these tacos. The staff and location are everything you would expect from a great Mexican restaurant. Don’t forget the salsa in the yellow squeeze bottle!!!!“
“We were looking for a restaurant that served fresh ceviche. It just so happened that our phones pointed ? TT+R. We have gone by this restaurant for years. Big mistake. The food is excellent, service with a smile and quick. Reasonable price. Don't let its size discourage you. You'll enjoy the food and service ?.“
“We tried this out based on the good reviews, and we were so glad we did! The place was pretty quiet, but the food was excellent and the staff was extremely friendly! We will definitely go back here againUpdate Mar 2024. Food was still good, however the dining area was very dirty. Even the table we used wasn't very clean. There were a few staff members just sitting around chatting, as the restaurant wasn't busy. Maybe they should keep them busy, by having them clean up the place!“
“It's hard finding good authentic style tacos in Tampa bay. This place serves high quality Mexican style tacos. I got the lengua, cabeza, el pastor and suadero (which was actually a carnitas). The tortilla to meat ratio is good. I don't feel they held back on meat like a lot of Mexican restaurants do. They definitely filled it up really nice. All were juicy and delicious except for the carnitas which were super fatty and greasy. The tortillas also tasted great. The ambiance had a Mexican style feel to it. Mexican music playing in the background, nicely decorated interior. The staff that took my order were also very nice. Overall I really enjoyed my tacos!“
“Been eating here for 20 years, I grew up eating here and now my kids are doing the same. Can’t go wrong with a burger, the gyro or some tacos. I do miss the original fries , but the mozzarella sticks and o-rings are great. Try the Tamales if they have any in stock! They have good portions and keep the place clean. One of the very few places that are open late in town, but with a menu with lots to chose from.“
“AMAZING. From the Chips and Salsa (BTW the chips are red green and white). Recommend the Florida Burrito. Best Burrito I've had the steak was so tender, no fat and the shrimp was fresh. We had a great experience here highly recommend checking it out. Found the new regular ?“
“Got off work and needed a bite. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and the kind girl at the window asked me if I’d like onions and cilantro in it. She said that’s how she gets it. I’m so glad she suggested that because it was excellent! And the hot sauce and fresh pico were a plus. I’ll definitely come here again!“
“This has been a family favorite for years. The new paint and lights are a lovely update adding to the fresh, delicious food and very friendly service. At least 3 different people working the floor tonight stopped by our table to refresh our drinks, refresh our chips or check on how our food was. The food portions are huge and everything is delicious!! Sopes are my favorite and being able to chose 3 different meats for my 3 Sopes is always fun! A beef, a chicken, and a pork carnitas for me.! The Mexican tacos are delicious - your choice of meats and fair pricing means you can order a great variety!“
“Check your sauce!Food is always good, but sometimes they put the wrong sauce in the wrong canister. I always get mofo insane, and I grabbed a salad to go, pumped some mofo insane into to go cups, get home, poured it all over my salad, and when I go to eat it, it was soooo sweet and no spice at all, NOT the mofo insane at all. I hate sweet and it ruined my salad. I couldn’t eat it.Love T Flats, just check your sauce at this location, the opposite could happen to you where you think it’s sweet and you’re in for a rude awakening with the mofo insane!“
“They moved into this nice place now the place is amazing. I love it. The food like always is amazing. The waitresses are so sweet, which is a family owned restaurant which are the daughters of the owners. I love to go there because I always feel so warm and welcome and they always make me laugh and the food is always amazing. I love my steak nachos comes with onions, avocado, white cheese my favorite dish. The place is always clean, which is very important to me. so if you’re looking for a nice Mexican restaurant, I totally recommend this one. I don’t give five stars easily and they are well deserved. They are hard-working people and they really care about their clients.“
“I got a to go order and haven’t even finished eating before writing this. This is easily the best Mexican food I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to Mexico! I got my order within minutes of placing it but, it wouldn’t even bother me if it took longer because there was a whole grocery area where I picked up some seasonings and salsas. I live close but also did a couple things in the house before eating and my food was still hot when I opened it. They wrapped all of the containers in saran wrap so nothing spilled and kept the heat in. I got a steak burrito with no pico, queso con chorizo, beans and rice, with an horchata. Everything is amazing! Stir the horchata before drinking but you can tell it was homemade!“
“Love this Mexican place. It is one of my favorite places to eat Mexican food in Clearwater. The food is great, the staff is super humble, and the drinks are very affordable. The only thing negative I will say is that sometimes the restaurant will allow third-party vendors to come into the restaurant and start selling goods or services. I understand they're trying to help their community, but at the same time, some of us do not want to be bothered while we are dining.I highly recommend this restaurant. One of the best if you're looking for great food in the area.“
“This place was clean the young lady at the counter was nice!! The tacos, I got Pollo, pastor and chorizo! Pastor was fire and the chorizo. The chicken was pretty good to! The jalapeño sauce was spicy very but good, now the cilantro sauce was fire!! Never been here before I was pleased 3 tacos for $9 not bad!!!“
“Nice authentic restaurant. Only 3 stars for the atmosphere because we didn’t dine in. We took out for our first time eating. Service was quick. Got home….we loved it! I order chicken taquitos and hubby got the steak fajita nachos. Not too greasy and the guacamole was delish as well. Try it if you are looking for great Mexican food. We will be back!“
“We had a table of 6. It seemed the waitress was unable to handle a group that large. The order came out all wrong.! I didn’t get to try the only thing I came in for. But, enjoyed the atmosphere and coconut margaritas. The only complaint there was it didn’t taste like coconut outside the rim. If the bartender added a little coconut flavor to the actual drink… heaven.. we will return.“
