“I love this little bakery. Definitely enjoyed it more than Hellas. My only disappointment today was they didn't have their olive bread. If you are going to visit the area Definitely call ahead and try to order the olive bread. It is the most wonderful thing I've ever eaten.“
“Have waited a long long time to eat here, but always a long line and I simply dislike the wait. FINALLY today on good Friday there was no one. I parked fast and truly worth the months I've waited. The hostess, likely the owner was extremely pleasant. Chicken wrap was absolutely ? delicious, the tomatoes were fresh and the tzaziki sauce just perfect. It's a hole in the wall with the very best food. Forget Hellas just opposite, this Limani is superb. The outside searing is pleasant as well. Thank you, we will be back ! And will wait if need be ?“
“Delicious authentic Greek food. I had the chef’s special calamari, perfectly cooked and served on onions, garlic and honey. Perfect combination. Started with the lemon soup which was the best I’ve tasted. They ended the meal with apple slices with cinnamon and honey. Very nice way to end a delicious meal. Food was plentiful, service was excellent & our waitress had a great sense of humor. Made us feel welcome and want to return for more.“
“Food was delicious, staff were warm and friendly, and atmosphere was wonderful . If you want to give 5 stars, tap the 5th star first. I tapped the first star first, because I thought you had to start tapping one at a time. Google thought I was giving it only 1 star. I had to delete it and start over.“
“If you're ever in Tarpon Springs, Mr Souvlaki needs to be the first place you visit if you're a hungry kind of type. Start and finish with the Greek Chow Mein. Also, of you're of Kalymnian descent like me, don't rock the "Kalymnos" hat your Uncle gave you because everyone in the Sponge Docks assume you know Greek and are your “
“The history of the Sponge Docks begins with John Cheyney founded the first sponge business in Tarpon Springs in the 1880s. His success attracted sponge divers from Greece and it provided quite a few jobs for the local economy. The sponges were harvested off the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico using surface boats and long poles to bring up the sponges. In 1905 John Cocoris came to town and introduced sponge diving to the industry. This deep sea diving technique used a special suit and a diving helmet with air pumped in from a compressor on the boat. He brought in divers from Greece and the sponge industry soon became one of the biggest businesses in Florida and required more and more divers. Many of the original divers came from the Dodecanese Islands of Kalymnos, Symi and Halki. The street that runs along the sponge docks on the river is named Dodecanese Boulevard. Many more Greeks came to Tarpon to open restaurants, candy stores, coffee houses, taverns and grocery stores Thousands of Greeks stayed in Tarpon Springs and they helped to build the city. Today the area along the Sponge Docks is an interesting tourist destination with hundreds of shops, bakeries, restaurants and other businesses with mostly Greek themes. There are museums, statues, plaques and other reminders of the area's unique history. The Sponge Docks is still a working waterfront that is home to the remaining sponge boats and a large fleet of shrimpers. If you visit Tarpon Springs, the Sponge Docks are a must!“
“On a beautiful evening in Tarpon Springs, Florida, the Jesus Navarrete family decided to spend their evening at Yianni's Seafood & Greek Cuisine. The restaurant, known for its delicious Mediterranean dishes and Greek influence, was the perfect place to enjoy the sunset. As they sat down at their table, they were greeted with warm smiles from the staff and a menu full of mouth-watering options. The weather was perfect, with a gentle breeze and a warm sun setting in the distance. The family enjoyed the fresh seafood and traditional Greek dishes, savoring each bite and taking in the stunning view of the sunset over the water. Yianni's Seafood & Greek Cuisine provided the perfect ambiance for a memorable evening with loved ones.“
“I ate lunch, here, with a coupon from a parking vendor. Glad I did! Quiet, set back off the main road at The Sponge Docks. A wonderful aroma met me in the door. This place is worth the short walk to get to. Had their roast lamb gyro. Most tasty and the meat was cooked so well and generously loaded with vegetables.Parking: Small parking lot around the side of the building. Plenty of pay lots available, though.“
“It was my first time last Friday.. A neighbor brought me. I had the jumbo stuffed shells. They were so good I could eat them again. The cesaer salad was also good. I cannot wait to bring my daughter and her friends. That sauce they make, CHEFS KISS DELISH!“
“Easter Sunday lunch was amazing. Our family had a great time and excellent food. We felt like home. Everyone is polite and friendly. We all had fish and all the appetizers were as being back to Greece. Thank you for the amazing hospitality.“
“We have been going to Tarpon springs for over 20 years, we even got married at St. Michael’s shrine (rest in peace Goldie). This is the firsts time we have eaten at Mama’s. We ate outside on the side facing cross street, which is the full bar side. There were lots of fans going so they created a pleasant breeze. For an appetizer, we had the tzatziki which came with pita points-yummy. I had a shock top (cutest little beer glass but they had 2 for 1 which made it better (for me). For our main course, we had Gyro’s which was on the sandwich menu. They were the best Gyros we have had at tarpon springs in a very long time, the gyro meat was fresh, the tomatoes were fresh, they sandwich was very good. And we have eaten at just about every place in Tarpon. Unfortunately, we didn’t get our server’s name and it wasn’t on the check or the receipt but she was very attentive and cheerful without being over bearing. The only drawback was because we were outside, there was someone around the corner at the bar smoking and that smell wafted our way ( I think it was a contractor ).Their menu consisted of the usual Greek food and if it’s as fresh as the Gyro, it would be fantastic. I very highly recommend Mama’s. By the way, they feature a belly dancer on some days so that would be an extra treat. The restaurant is located such as you can enter two ways, we entered on the cross street side, which is a side street but you can also enter through the shopping plaza. Hope you enjoy!“
“I dined at Hellas today with 2 family members. We had a reservation (the best way to be seated quickly) and were seated promptly. We ordered the Shish kabobs and split a Greek Salad. The food was wonderful as always and we had a pleasant experience. Love this restaurant! Best Greek food in Pinellas County, definitely worth the drive.“
