My wife and I used to frequent this Chinese restaurant, stopping a while back because the quality of food and service had declined. We decided to give it a try again and were happy that we did. We had a late lunch, the food was excellent, as was the service. I had sweet and sour shrimp while my wife had a szechuan dish. Good taste at a reasonable price.

We always take out from Hong Kong Star. Every time one of us asks for something special for example 'low oil' on the fried rice. They always follow our instructions and prepare the dish just as we like it.

I attended Hong Kong Star as I was looking for some quality Chinese food with some of my friends. We were sat down immediately however we were not attended immediately. A few staff members glanced our way before we finally were greeted. All of my buddies ordered egg drop soup which wasn't disappointing yet it wasn't what I expected. I have had egg drop soup before, just never with chicken in it. I'm not complaining really, I'm just stating my past experiences. Anyways, for my main dish I ordered some sweet and sour shrimp which was OK. The shrimp was slightly dry and the batter was OK too. It came with sauce as it stated which was just normal. If you want some upscale Chinese food, P.F. Chang's is a good suggestion, although that's even more upscale than Hong Kong Star. Hong Kong Star is OK and sometimes I would recommend, yet sometimes I wouldn't. It's hard to decide.

This has joined our regular rotation since a family member needs gluten-free now for health reasons, but I love both the food and the friendliness of the staff. They patiently explain ingredients and dishes to my kiddos who are not familiar with Chinese food. They are fantastic at making almost everything on the menu gluten-free and confirming it when it comes to the table (for carry out the gf gets a sticker so it's clearly labeled). We've enjoyed exploring the menu and sharing dishes at this neighborhood gem, going through the standard dishes but also trying Princess Chicken, a new fav. They do lots of carry out but I have never felt a lack of attention from the wait staff as they balance both. And we always go home with enough leftovers to make a few lunches - no skimpy portions!

My family used to eat at Hong Kong Star pretty regularly. The last few times we have been, any sense of decent customer service has been completely abandoned. This week I made a reservation for everyone who would be in town for the holidays on their website. Last year we did the same thing for Christmas Eve but we waited more than 2 hours after our reservation time -- at that time the hostess said they had a problem with the system. To triple check that we would be fine, I called in to see if the reservation for this week was received. The individual I spoke with said it is always first come first serve. I said I found that confusing since their website accepted online reservations. The individual on the call with me said "that's your problem lady" and hung up on me. I definitely will not be returning. I have worked in restaurants myself, and I really can't imagine ever saying that to a customer and hanging up on them.
Very tasty with a super friendly and knowledgeable staff. They have more options than a typical Chinese restaurant 10/10 will be returning!

I had not visited this restaurant in a few years but stopped by tonight for dinner and was very pleasantly surprised. The service was exceptional and the food was outstanding. Everything was prepared to perfection and all ingredients seemed extremely fresh. I have definitely added Hong Kong Star to my group of favorite restaurants.

I was just here for lunch with my family because I heard it was good; the food was similar to overprice mall Chinese food.But that was not the reason I rated them low. I was treated like a second class citizen. Sat us in the corner, had no service, the manager kept hovering around us to get the order before they even seated us. Just a few examples from the eveningAll because I wear a scarf on my head, I was treated such, very unfortunate
