“Great night, great food, Harrison our waiter, and all his coworkers were exceptional! We had a great seat by the beautiful fireplace, and the beer is fabulous! The Blueberry was my favorite! The potatoe ship skillet, Brussels sprouts, beet hummus and veggies, stuffed pretzel , and Caesar salad were awesome! Can’t wait to go back !”

“Our second trip to GSG was not as pleasant as the first. Our table was plagued with several flies that harassed us our entire meal, I actually dispatched an ant crawling on the table too. Our smoked fish dip appetizer was extremely “fishy” like it was made with mullet or something. It was not good. We each tried one taste and left it alone. The crab stew was great. My triple tail special was great. My daughter’s bacon poached salmon was supposed to be prepared medium, but it was rare…very. So, I wound up trading her a portion of my dinner so she would not have to eat almost raw fish. Overall, I expected much more consistent greatness given the difficulty we have had obtaining a reservation. Disappointed”

“My wife and I were in St Simons tonight looking for some healthy vegetarian food and found this amazing plave. They have great vegetarian and vegan options. We got a couple of bowls and they were very tasry. And the chia pudding was amazing!”

“I just stayed for 2 nights and had such a great experience! The room was beautiful with great touches like a chandelier in the bathroom. The bed was super comfortable, there was a mini fridge and coffee maker in the room, and my balcony looked out at the beautiful trees. All of the staff were very friendly and I would definitely return.”

“By far, this was the best dining experience I've had. Every aspect of the meal was flawless, from the baked goat cheese and escargot to the mixed grill, bone-in ribeye, and chocolate cake – each dish was incredible. This meal stands out as one of my favorites, a true fine dining experience.”

The cafe is joined to a bookstore! Genius! And the cafe is decorated with posters from classic readings.

“Ice cream was delicious! Several flavors to choose from. Location is quite small, and exiting through the garage portion leaves a little to be desired, with a stand with napkins and things just placed in the corner.
Two servers inside were a young man and lady. Both seemed to be in a bad mood. Actually felt like we were bothering them by coming in. They asked what we wanted, served us and told us to exit through the side door. No thank you, enjoy your day or anything. Again, the ice cream was delicious. Portions were nice. Service, not so much”

“We spotted this bakery as we were driving past yesterday, and I think I just had the best cupcake of my life! I forget the name, but it was chocolate cake, chocolate frosting, with vanilla cream inside and a vanilla squiggle on top. So moist and rich and flavorful! What an amazing surprise!”

She was so helpful as saying taste of drink and if you don’t like it, give it back to me and I’ll make you something else but I told her that I’ll taste it because it was too hot at the present time and moment and I’ll let her know next time I come if I don’t like it I told her I’ll let her choose and make me something that she think that I may or may not like”

“We got there about 20 minutes before closing. Normally I don’t like going to any restaurant unless it is at least 30 minutes before closing but we were starving and there weren’t a lot of choices. The waitress was so friendly, and the service was fantastic. We ordered pizza, wings and some cheese bread. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious. The pizza was excellent. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the mood for pizza. I tipped the waitress 50% for being so great even though we got there so late. I will definitely be back.”

“Absolutely, hands down, best patty melt burger I’ve ever had. Server Keri was attentive and our food was hot and delicious. The fried brussel sprouts are a must try. Of course, we also enjoyed our milkshakes! Bobby Hunter and I will be returning to this cute little diner.”

“What a beautiful place to celebrate our anniversary! This was our second trip to Sea Island, our first being last February when we stayed at the Cloisters. Wonderful accommodations in a magnificant building. On that stay we played golf on each of their 3 fabulous championship courses. Hence, the reason for our return trip 5 months later. On this trip we decided to spend three days at the Lodge, located right next to two of the three golf courses and adjacent to St. Simons Sound. The grounds were beautiful and the service exceptional. Our room overlooked the golf course and was spacious, beautifully decorated and included special touches to make us feel comfortable and pampered. The staff was very friendly and all seemed to know we were celebrating our 39th anniversary. In fact, one evening when we returned to the room there was a bottle of wine and a plate with 7- huge chocolate covered strawberries. Boy did my wife love that! What a nice touch to a beautiful evening. We had our anniversary dinner in their renowned steak house (Colt & Alison) and enjoyed a perfect meal with superb top shelf service. And - a surprised anniversary dessert! Remember to wear a jacket. I forgot mine and was given one to wear, in my exact size. The Lodge has a beautiful open seating area which resembles an old English manor. Each evening we sat outside and were entertained by their bagpiper who performs at sunset. Naturally, we got to play the courses again and as expected, they were in fantastic shape. Each course was pristine, with manicured greens, white fluffy sand and a green carpet fairway. Our stay was wonderful and I highly recommend this resort to anyone wanting to stay in a Five-star award offering world-class accommodations and golf on three beautiful Championship courses. “My friend and I found Murphy's Tavern while on an afternoon/ day trip to St. Simon's Island yesterday. We had a great time. Kaleb and Grant treated us great. We shot a couple of rounds of billiards. We will definitely go back next time we go to the coast.”

“Over the years, I've frequently enjoyed dining at Colt & Alison and have consistently been impressed. However, my most recent visit left me feeling somewhat let down. The quality of the food lived up to expectations, and so did the prices, with the chateaubriand for two priced at $190, and the wine selection notably superior, particularly for the southeast US. Yet, two aspects of the experience were less than satisfactory for me. Firstly, the atmosphere was excessively formal to the point of discomfort; a call from my wife in Europe requiring a brief, whispered conversation led to an immediate request by the manager for me to end the call. Nobody in the restaurant could hear me. Secondly, a diner next to me was subtly prompted to adhere to a dress code by being provided a jacket, adding to the overly rigid ambiance. The service, while attentive, and deemed by most that review as outstanding, to me, it bordered on intrusive, with frequent check-ins disrupting the flow of conversation. Despite these drawbacks, I'm inclined to return, having a slight hope for a future decrease in the restaurant's rigid formalities, though I suspect this may not change.”

“I lost count of how many times my husband and 4 kids said "this is so good" !!! I ordered the special which was a Hawaiian chicken sandwich and it was like a dream. My husband got the salad and a bowl of chili and was stuffed and so happy. My son got the mild chicken wings and said they were the best he has ever had, and we shared some onion rings that were totally incredible, home made and awesome. My girls had a cheeseburger and fries and ate every bite! Couldn't have been better!!! <3 thanks so much Allison!! You were so accommodating to our 4 kids and made it a great experience! The ambiance is very nice, we like sitting at the bar when it's just my wife and me. Decor is lots of dark oak, very country club feel, and even though this is part of the Sea Island Resort, this particular venue is open to the public, as is the adjoining golf shop. Golf is available only ti members and hotel guests. For golf fans, what could be more fun than dining in Davis Love's very own grill?”

“We are grateful that this restaurant is here on St Simons Island. Their food is authentic Thai, without adulterations. They assured us no MSG, sugar... just fresh stuff and coconut milk to sweeten. Curries are Fabulous. Pad Thai just as it should be. Great soups. Small, friendly, hard-working staff. Reasonable prices.”

“Pretty nice local bakery for pastries and some coffee. A few breakfast sandwiches on biscuits that are good. As the name says, everything here is sweet, VERY sweet. This is not a bad thing but comes as a big surprise as the normally sweet type pastries like cinnamon rolls are more dessert-like than breakfast food. The pork pops are wonderful! Prices are good and the staff is ok but definitely used to the locals knowing the ordering routine. The only bad thing is the clientele inside. Sometimes it's a nice and kind group of people chatting and being friendly. Most of the time it's bullying political people screaming and making it known why everyone else's ideas suck and talking bad about the staff being stupid. The staff seems to just take this abuse because any complaint to management by a customer about unruly others is met with blank stares. If you can handle seeing staff and customers being berated and bullied while nobody does anything, or if you just get it to go and leave quickly, this is a great place. Of course a restaurant cannot control what patrons speak about, but this is rated R type stuff with loud racist comments being ignored. Definitely get the pork pops and a sweet roll TO GO.

Dietary restrictions: Be VERY aware that the sweet items will have MUCH more sugar than comparable items at other bakeries. Tasty but maybe not good if too much sugar is an issue.

Parking: This is in an outbuilding of a strip mall with plenty of parking.

Kid-friendliness: 100% NOT kid friendly for dine in or taking kids inside due to the local political guys being so loud, rude, and bullying. Management seems to at least allow, and maybe encourage this. Leave the kids in the car and get a bag to go.”

“The service was 100% better (at the bar) than Crabdaddys. There is no comparison!! The food is different at both restaurants, but I would go back to Crabtrap if sitting at the bar. The Crab Soup was also100% better at Crabtrap. At least you will be waited on and even acknowledge when sitting at the bar.”

“I'm from out of town and staying on the island. My neighbor suggested that I pick up Mexican food for us. I got the steak tacos. The staff was really friendly on the phone taking my order. They were very specific in asking me if I wanted onion on the tacos. That's very thoughtful. I wanted the food exactly the way they prepare it so I got the onions and the tacos were very much like Baja tacos, The way you would get them if you lived in Southern California / San Diego. It was wonderful. Plenty of meat. A side of crema and salsa, rice and beans and a big bag of chips. As I was waiting for my food, I sat at the bar and I really liked the restaurant. It's like a typical cafe, not decorated inside with a Hispanic theme, but it's okay Because it was highly air conditioned which is needed in this heat and humidity in August. The guest looked very happy and their plates were filled with food. You get really good value here. I talked to the two bartenders in my broken Spanish. They were so friendly. They really knew how to ask open-ended questions and we talked about food and where I have lived around the world, in Spanish when possible. Very very nice young men. I will frequent this Mexican restaurant multiple times while I stay here for 2 months just because they're friendly, The restaurant is clean, and the food was delicious and good value. My friend got the crazy chicken plate. It look like chicken that was grilled with onions and mushrooms. I really didn't pay much attention to it because I was consuming my tacos, and get them with corn tortillas. That's really the way to eat any taco. The corn tortillas were very good, not dry. I think this would be a perfect place for happy hour and just to get a good plate of Mexican food and enjoy the community.”

Or not wait at all. However, being originally from California, this place is more like the food I’m used to than most and the food is why I eat out.”

After waiting 55 minutes we inquired about our order and learned from the hostess there was no “cook” in the kitchen. This became apparent when we noticed only one table in the entire restaurant, both inside and outside, had food on the table. Sadly, the food we did see didn’t look particularly good either. Plenty of other dining establishments nearby…do yourself a favor take a pass on this place! 1/17/23”

“Pizza, salads and sandwiches are spot on from this local shroom. What is lacking is the wait staff is overwhelmed and could be better. The atmosphere is LOUD, but funky like all Mellow Mushrooms. Food is good, drinks are decent from the bar.

Parking: Parking can be difficult due to people not at the restaurant parking in the lot and going elsewhere to the pier.

“The Crab BLT is by far the best crab cake I've ever had in 26 years. One bite and I was sold. Fresh, well cooked, not over seasoned. My partner enjoyed the BBQ Loaded Fries. Good food for great prices and it came out really fast and fresh. Atmosphere was quiet and friendly. Service was really friendly, but kinda AWOL majority of the time.”
