“Great night, great food, Harrison our waiter, and all his coworkers were exceptional! We had a great seat by the beautiful fireplace, and the beer is fabulous! The Blueberry was my favorite! The potatoe ship skillet, Brussels sprouts, beet hummus and veggies, stuffed pretzel , and Caesar salad were awesome! Can’t wait to go back !”

“Our second trip to GSG was not as pleasant as the first. Our table was plagued with several flies that harassed us our entire meal, I actually dispatched an ant crawling on the table too. Our smoked fish dip appetizer was extremely “fishy” like it was made with mullet or something. It was not good. We each tried one taste and left it alone. The crab stew was great. My triple tail special was great. My daughter’s bacon poached salmon was supposed to be prepared medium, but it was rare…very. So, I wound up trading her a portion of my dinner so she would not have to eat almost raw fish. Overall, I expected much more consistent greatness given the difficulty we have had obtaining a reservation. Disappointed”

“Great customer service and tasty food and good portions. We tried the Mediterranean bowl, the beet salad and a Seasalt salad. The grilled chicken and shrimp additions were fresh and moist and very well seasoned. Their green juice was refreshing and tasty. Good find! We will be back for sure!”

“I just stayed for 2 nights and had such a great experience! The room was beautiful with great touches like a chandelier in the bathroom. The bed was super comfortable, there was a mini fridge and coffee maker in the room, and my balcony looked out at the beautiful trees. All of the staff were very friendly and I would definitely return.”

“Ice cream was delicious! Several flavors to choose from. Location is quite small, and exiting through the garage portion leaves a little to be desired, with a stand with napkins and things just placed in the corner.
Two servers inside were a young man and lady. Both seemed to be in a bad mood. Actually felt like we were bothering them by coming in. They asked what we wanted, served us and told us to exit through the side door. No thank you, enjoy your day or anything. Again, the ice cream was delicious. Portions were nice. Service, not so much”

“We have been going to the island for many years and have never stopped at HDA. What a mistake! My wife and I just wanted a simple meal at a good price. We did not even look at the hours but rolled up at 2:00 pm, their closing time. The ladies were so kind and did not say a word that they were closing. We both got jumbo dogs with the fixings and potato salad. I then noticed the hours and apologized but they were happy to serve us. Food was delicious and we sat on the deck with our lab and watched the world go by. Ladies offered our pup a treat as well. This is now a definite stop for us on the island.”

“We spotted this bakery as we were driving past yesterday, and I think I just had the best cupcake of my life! I forget the name, but it was chocolate cake, chocolate frosting, with vanilla cream inside and a vanilla squiggle on top. So moist and rich and flavorful! What an amazing surprise!”

“I would like to say that I’m on a diet and is a lady named Kim that works over there and she was very helpful to me and choosing what to eat then that I’m on a diet and also what to drink because I don’t need to be eating fatty foods or drinking sugary drinks. She was so helpful as saying taste of drink and if you don’t like it, give it back to me and I’ll make you something else but I told her that I’ll taste it because it was too hot at the present time and moment and I’ll let her know next time I come if I don’t like it I told her I’ll let her choose and make me something that she think that I may or may not like”

“We got there about 20 minutes before closing. Normally I don’t like going to any restaurant unless it is at least 30 minutes before closing but we were starving and there weren’t a lot of choices. The waitress was so friendly, and the service was fantastic. We ordered pizza, wings and some cheese bread. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious. The pizza was excellent. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the mood for pizza. I tipped the waitress 50% for being so great even though we got there so late. I will definitely be back.”

“While walking downtown waterfront shops, we wanted to get a beer and watch football. Nice dive bar that allows smoking (we don't) you can smell it as soon as you walk in. Bartender was nice and spot on with our beers.
Have pool tables and darts to play, left after one beer. We couldn't handle the smoke smell.”

“The service was 100% better (at the bar) than Crabdaddys. There is no comparison!! The food is different at both restaurants, but I would go back to Crabtrap if sitting at the bar. The Crab Soup was also100% better at Crabtrap. At least you will be waited on and even acknowledge when sitting at the bar.”

“What a wonderful treat dining in The Lodge at Sea Island Oak Room was for my wife and I. We stopped in on a slow post-Thanksgiving weekday evening and were treated to a wonderful delicious dinner. Our server Cericka was excellent. We were seated quickly by the hostess and ordered two Prosecco's. We enjoyed a delicious mini biscuits with bacon butter appetizer. My wife ordered a wonderful 6oz filet with Boursin whipped potatoes, roasted autumn veggies, and scallion steak sauce. I ordered the blackened Redfish with crab fried rice, green gumbo, and pickled Okra. Both entrees were served hot and were delicious. Bon Appetit”

“There was only one server (Abigail?) to wait on several tables, but she did an amazing job hustling around the tables. In spite of being overwhelmed, she was quite attentive to details and monitoring what we needed.”

“I can't believe it's taking me this long to write a review. Been a fan of sweet mamas for over 10 years. Locally owned business with deep roots in the community. A gathering place of youth groups in the mornings, friend groups at lunch. Pork pops are must. Try the Wainwright. Sweet mamas is known for breakfast treats, but the lunch is excellent. Simple deli sandwiches and soups. I am partial to the BLT with chips.”

“Had fabulous hamburger and the best onion rings ever. Don't be mislead, they have a menu filled with great choices. The ambiance is very nice, we like sitting at the bar when it's just my wife and me. Decor is lots of dark oak, very country club feel, and even though this is part of the Sea Island Resort, this particular venue is open to the public, as is the adjoining golf shop. Golf is available only ti members and hotel guests. For golf fans, what could be more fun than dining in Davis Love's very own grill?”

“Over the years, I've frequently enjoyed dining at Colt & Alison and have consistently been impressed. However, my most recent visit left me feeling somewhat let down. The quality of the food lived up to expectations, and so did the prices, with the chateaubriand for two priced at $190, and the wine selection notably superior, particularly for the southeast US. Yet, two aspects of the experience were less than satisfactory for me. Firstly, the atmosphere was excessively formal to the point of discomfort; a call from my wife in Europe requiring a brief, whispered conversation led to an immediate request by the manager for me to end the call. Nobody in the restaurant could hear me. Secondly, a diner next to me was subtly prompted to adhere to a dress code by being provided a jacket, adding to the overly rigid ambiance. The service, while attentive, and deemed by most that review as outstanding, to me, it bordered on intrusive, with frequent check-ins disrupting the flow of conversation. Despite these drawbacks, I'm inclined to return, having a slight hope for a future decrease in the restaurant's rigid formalities, though I suspect this may not change.”

“I'm from out of town and staying on the island. My neighbor suggested that I pick up Mexican food for us. I got the steak tacos. The staff was really friendly on the phone taking my order. They were very specific in asking me if I wanted onion on the tacos. That's very thoughtful. I wanted the food exactly the way they prepare it so I got the onions and the tacos were very much like Baja tacos, The way you would get them if you lived in Southern California / San Diego. It was wonderful. Plenty of meat. A side of crema and salsa, rice and beans and a big bag of chips. As I was waiting for my food, I sat at the bar and I really liked the restaurant. It's like a typical cafe, not decorated inside with a Hispanic theme, but it's okay Because it was highly air conditioned which is needed in this heat and humidity in August. The guest looked very happy and their plates were filled with food. You get really good value here. I talked to the two bartenders in my broken Spanish. They were so friendly. They really knew how to ask open-ended questions and we talked about food and where I have lived around the world, in Spanish when possible. Very very nice young men. I will frequent this Mexican restaurant multiple times while I stay here for 2 months just because they're friendly, The restaurant is clean, and the food was delicious and good value. My friend got the crazy chicken plate. It look like chicken that was grilled with onions and mushrooms. I really didn't pay much attention to it because I was consuming my tacos, and get them with corn tortillas. That's really the way to eat any taco. The corn tortillas were very good, not dry. I think this would be a perfect place for happy hour and just to get a good plate of Mexican food and enjoy the community.”

Or not wait at all. However, being originally from California, this place is more like the food I’m used to than most and the food is why I eat out.”

After waiting 55 minutes we inquired about our order and learned from the hostess there was no “cook” in the kitchen. This became apparent when we noticed only one table in the entire restaurant, both inside and outside, had food on the table. Sadly, the food we did see didn’t look particularly good either. “Pizza, salads and sandwiches are spot on from this local shroom. What is lacking is the wait staff is overwhelmed and could be better. The atmosphere is LOUD, but funky like all Mellow Mushrooms. Food is good, drinks are decent from the bar.

Parking: Parking can be difficult due to people not at the restaurant parking in the lot and going elsewhere to the pier.
