If you want budget tasting sushi for higher prices, look no further. They lost their chefs and it shows. Ebisuya used to be incredible.

This is the 2nd time I’ve order only to find they have shorted me at least one roll that I ordered. Calling them to try to fix it is impossible as the line is always busy (I’ve never gotten through trying for a half hour straight). I live up the mountain so driving back with no assurance they will provide the replacement or refund isn’t an option. Please do better. My receipt say it was Yasuhiro who processed my order tonight but it wasn’t him last time.

Not the best sushi but convenient location and great prices. Good vegetarian options as well. They offer take out only right now.

Beware small servings and absurdly small amount of wasabi (see photo). With 4 rolls and 3 orders of nigiri they gave me 3 of these containers… when I questioned if this is their normal serving size and suggested it would be a problem if I or another customer got home and had 3 bites of food and then ran out of wasabi ruining the whole meal, they looked at my like I was crazy. In any case, a rainbow roll from them is about half to 60% of the size of a normal rainbow roll and with very thinly sliced fish, so net net you’re paying full price for about 20%-30% of the fish and 50%-60% of the rice you would expect elsewhere. The quality and flavor is OK but the serving size and especially the ridiculous amount of wasabi included before they want you to pay more for “extra” are good to be aware of. In the end they gave me some free wasabi which is maybe almost the same amount I would expect from a normal sushi place, but good to be aware of the penny pinching at this place. And if you order you may want to get some “extra” wasabi.

Just a simple little sushi place in sweet sweet Hilo. The ambiance is cute and quaint with no a/c and I love it. Got a few rolls and nigiri just enough to keep us happy. Thanks Sushi Ebisuya!

Seriously, I don't know how this place is as highly rated as it is. Look at this picture. Small pieces of fish. But that's not really the problem. Even if they were larger, they were mediocre at best. The uni was the best of the three. The salmon and tuna were so-so. And they had no hamachi, so I don't know how that would have been. With all of the other nearby choices, you might be better off choosing one of them. I know next time I will.
