Worst churro in the history of churros! Felt like a dog bone ( yes, it was THAT hard) the veg burrito was okay very bland though enchilada was average good rice and beans and chips kinda soggy. Would not recommendVegetarian options: Some vegetarian options but food is overall bland

With limited choices here in Kona, it’s nice to have a consistent. We love the food, service and chill atmosphere. Plenty of inside and out seating. Many people do to-go orders. Steak quesadilla and chicken chimichanga are delicious. Staff are always kind and helpful. Almost always a line and wait is usually under 20min.

My wife and I went on a Friday night before our movie. It was a redemption attempt after a 5 year boycott.I agree with the general consensus of the critical reviews: the food (and especially the beans) is bland overall. If you use the salsa the flavor is good, but it's like they are afraid of salt. The service is "meh." The order taker was friendly enough, but the expeditor (who give out the orders) was not friendly at all. They weren't rude to me, but I did observe them give major attitude to another customer for seemingly no reason. They were very busy. The trash was overflowing, but the tables, chairs, walls, ceilings, and what I could see of the food prep area were actually quite clean.

Delicious veggie and bean & cheese tacos! The buñelos actually have honey! They have Maui ginger beer.

Not many Mexican choices in Kona, but this is your best bet if you agree that Taco Bell is not actually Mexican food. Portions are large if you go for the burritos. Ask for the salsa hot and you won't be disappointed.

We stopped in here for dinner, and to say I was surprised is an understatement. The food was great. No complaints at all. The service was excellent. I got a ground beef taco and a chili Verde taco, along with rice and beans. My wife got a quesadilla and fish taco. Her first comment was I would eat here again. The food was very good. We live in California, and we eat at some great family run Mexican restaurants, and this place is really good. There is limited seating, I think 6 tables. Ambiance is good, mot really noisy, but there is a steady stream of people coming in.

Good food, fair prices, and fast/friendly service. While this isn't a fancy restaurant, if you're looking for a quick meal with a fair price tag and delicious flavors, this is a great spot to choose. Habaneros is located in Keauhou shopping center, very conveniently located near multiple large resorts. I've never waited longer than roughly ten minutes for my order to be ready, and it's always more food than I can eat in one sitting. If you're in Kona and looking for Mexican style food, put Habaneros towards the top of your list.

Sooo disappointed. Hard to believe that it's still under the same ownership. Everybody behind the counter looks unhappy, no Aloha whatsoever. I ordered a chile verde plate. The rice was dried up and cold, the pork had dry chunks. Nothing tasted like the great home cooking they used to serve. The margarita was super sweet and they didn't bother to add a lime, I had to ask for it. They're no longer served in colorful glasses either. Very sad, this place used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant. Qué sucedió Armando? ?

Don't go here. The girl at the cash register was beyond rude. We got in the door that was still open at 7:03 PM. She instantly said "we're closed" in the rudest way you could possibly think. We were super kind and said "oh no problem." As we were turning to walk out we said, "is there anyway you can take one more." Our two little kids that were with us were so disappointed. Also we noticed that the kitchen was still fresh and moving and putting out orders I would like to note. She was so smug, so rude, even her face had a look of anger, and she said "no, as I said we are closed" in the most angry way possible. it was horrible and embarrassing for the place. This girl should be instantly fired. And they seriously need to train their staff in kindness and customer service. I don't think I'll ever go again here because of this horrible experience.

I have low expectations of Mexican food on the island, and yet, this place was far worse than I could have imagined. I ordered veggie enchiladas with rice and beans. Only the beans were hot; the rest of the food was cold. Taste-wise, it was excessively mediocre. The worst bit was that the enchilada and rice gave me the absolute worst-smelling gas I’ve ever experienced. The DOG ran and hid. My partner wouldn’t sit anywhere near me. I will never do that to my intestines again!

Fast and friendly service! I was craving Mexican food and this place did the job! It's a perfect of example of that Tex-Mex experience in Hawaii. Order at the counter and find your own seat kind of place . Nice ambience with very cool art. The owners are such great people. The man came out to say hello to us and told us how him and his wife started the place . Such a humble and touching story. Definitely coming back!
