Typical husband and wife run establishment. The wait for the food is sometimes extensive but there's only 1 person in the kitchen. I love to order the 3 choice combo plate: chicken katsu, butterfish and mini steak sometimes I get the udon instead of the butterfish. I believe there's 8 tables but it's worth the wait.

Niece came to visit from Northern California party of 7. Called to make reservations for 6pm. They could not make time so had to change to 6:30. The owner was so nice to accommodate us, as it was a busy Saturday evening. Came before 6:30. & had 2 tables reserved, Thankyou to Mrs. Owner. Had to wait a little longer, as traffic from Waikiki was heavy. Menu has good variety & everyone ordered what they wanted. See pics & descriptions. The food is nicely presented & entrees, combo & sushi were all delicious. The customer service was excellent too! Prices inline for dining in today! Looking forward to returning for more . Parking lot small parking available on street if needed. Loss some pics before posting, just 2 examples of the entrees served.

Ambience of this restaurant is nice for a small place, customer service is good and food is tasty. They have a nice selection on their menu. I especially like that their combo deal can include a noodle dish. The only reason I didn't give a 5 is that the wait for our food can be a bit long coming out of the kitchen and when it's busy your wait is longer. It's because everything is prepared fresh. So for us the wait is worth it.

Server/owner? Unfriendly service. Had to ask twice for tea. Tempura didn't taste fresh and batter was thick. Ahi spicy sushi was falling apart, not ahi nor spicy, a mash of maybe tiny bits of ahi, mayo? Not sure, but would not recommend it. Won't be back. Anyone have recommendations for excellent Japanese food?

Your hours of operation are not accurate online. My family and I went to eat and the place was closed. Very misleading!

The shrimp tempura was one of the best I've tasted! The soba noodles were cooked to perfection and the sauces were delicious! On top of that, the service was great! Although she was the only one working, we got wonderful service with a smile. I just think some of these other Japanese restaurants are waaay overrated! Maybe we're paying for their high rent, but this place can't be beat!!!

We were blown away by both dishes! The chicken katsu and salmon were absolutely outstanding. The service was incredibly quick. I'm definitely planning on returning without a doubt.

Enjoyed all the various bento combos. First time I have seen clam croquette and salmon katsu. Both were delicious and highly recommend. Other bento combos we ordered were chicken karaage, soft shell crab, miso butter fish, and salmon. Only a few small tables but they were able to reserve a table for our party of 10. Only one waitress but super efficient.

Poor service ... NOT friendly and shred NO Aloha to visitors or tour drivers who support Waimea. I was appalled at the smart mouth counter woman... The young Hawaiian gentleman at counter was only shining light of general kindness and thankfulness for all the visitors there... Wake Up Waimea...we want to support you , but geez show some appreciation and Aloha for that tour drivers and tour directors do for you...

This is a great choice value for quality of food-wise reasons. The ambiance has more of an l and l feel. The restaurant is clean and the table spacing is adequate but the furnishings are quite plain. They use quality dishes for their culinary offerings and the portions are quite generous so overall it is a good experience. The restaurant is rather small so there is only one waitress who is very friendly and as efficient as she can be (I think possibly only one person in the kitchen as well) but the wait time for the food and the order it comes out is the only flaw in this otherwise, great place. So as long as you have extra time and are into a longer than usual dining experience, you will truly enjoy the excellent food here at restaurant Domo. The soft shell crab was delectable and the Hamaci and Maguro were enormously portioned.

Finally dined in for dinner tonight and loved it. Has old school Japanese restaurant feel and food was good. Little bit pricey but what isn't these days.
